  1. Indeed, that is a good choice. There is a good kit market for this scale but limited ready to run options. If you were entering this market, it would seem prudent to operate at a scale with limited competition. Hence why I suggested G1. 10 years ago, RTR O gauge at an "economical" price was unheard of. There is no reason why G1 couldnt progress the same way, apart from space constraints of layouts, hence why small sized prototypes would need to be chosen. Your choice of 7mm NG helps immensely with the space problems though.
  2. Shame they dont know the difference between carriages and wagons.
  3. This chap has some engineering skills.
  4. Toy or model, at 11 years old any liability from Dapol has long since passed. However, from an engineering point of view, I expect they would want to investigate to ensure there are no manufacturing issues that could affect future models, or to enable an improvement in processes and materials.
  5. RNAD Dean Hill had a comprehensive narrow gauge railway as well as a standard gauge interchange.
  6. Love the livery that Aberdeen, Carolina and Western Railway uses.
  7. I thought most of the ships waited until the canal was claear then made transit. So minimal losses to the canal company on transit fees. Accepted a few ships went the long way, but not many.

  9. Indeed. He even made me a storage unit to go in the back of the 4x4.
  10. Seating went downhill rapidly after the 4CEP went out of service. I used to enjoy travelling on these for many hours at a time.
  11. M0VTT Although not exactly "amateur", I recently worked a station 36000 km away using 8 watts.
  12. Forgot to ask this earlier. What is the process for swaging out the ends of the boiler tubes when new ones are fitted?
  13. Nothing to do with me, but found this time lapse online video of a wooden laserkit build. https://i.imgur.com/Z3xcGNn.gif

  15. The 2 track marshalls have been recognised for their efforts. https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/24096/12147865/martin-brundle-romain-grosjeans-crash-escape-and-the-miracles-of-bahrain "Pivotal to all this was Corporal Thayer Ali Taher who crossed the track after the pack was gone and the medical car had stopped, his extinguisher appearing to create a protective cell around the cockpit zone. Another marshal Sergeant John Matthew on the other side of the barrier was effective too. Both men were from the Bahrain civil defence and were promoted the very next morning, Taher to Sergeant and Matthew to Sergeant Major."
  16. Dr Ian Roberts has balls of steel. Much respect for what he did.

    Dapol 08

If new replacement spare parts exhibit exactly the same fault, it would be very difficult for Dapol to deny its a manufacturing defect.
  18. For N gauge, I prefer Tomix. The range is equally large, but the road bed profile is considerably smaller. http://www.trainweb.org/tomix/track/tomix_track.htm Kato, Tomix, Fleischmann, Peco
