  1. I'd rather they did the 2HAP first. Still only one Mk1 SR EMU.
  2. On the blue/grey Potholes- how many made it into blue/grey if anyone knows please.
  3. Upon seeing the Mk1 my heart excitedly skipped a beat when the RBR was shown, then I realised it was a repeat of the RU. Oh well. Always May.
  4. My wife would 100% agree with this and she should know as she has managed to get my Christmas present wrong on more than 1 occasion!!
  5. August 2012 my pre-order dated. My son was approaching his 1st birthday. This year he will of course turn 10, and people complain about Bachmann.
  6. My personnal interest is primarily N gauge but I still maintain a small OO presence and Bachmann mainly cover my D & E interests, however I still look forward to Hornby's annual announcements every year but never really expect to see much that I expect to see me part with my cash. The one really relevent Hornby model to my interests is the VEP which I'm not convinced we'll ever see again. I do have a bit of a soft spot for the new Hornby Mk1s but the announcement of the BCK was a surprise - I'm not convinced it will bring a huge amount to the range seeing as Hornby already have the BSO and BSK, why not try a different tact with the Mk1s - suburban types with 10 compartments and related vehicles. My personal wishlist I think would be a 3D/207, a re-release of the class 50 in NSE or a return of the named train train packs that where around about 20 years ago. The one Hornby purchase I will be making this year will be the blue 08 with sound, although it was really one of last years announcements.
  7. Hi all. Help please. I have Farish class 40 D369 model which appears not be taking any power - no lights - nothing. Any ideas to what this could be be - I'm not the most gifted in technicalities. It has always been impressively slow even at full speed but this time it has just died. Thanks Steve
  8. The magazines are now due every 3 months - February,May, August and November. I would imagine a catalogue will come with February edition as will the next quarterly announcements. Up to now the announcements have been within the first week of the month. Steve
  9. I got the Southern EMUs in colour for Christmas. Good book. Highly recommend it if you have a passion for these things. Are you able to say what is coming next Kevin?
  10. Hi guys. Does anybody know the ID of the first VEA wagon to receive the green/yellow Railfreight Distribution small logo livery and approx what date released to traffic please. Many thanks Steve
  11. Could still do with an RBR though...
  12. Likewise the large logo one I have.
  13. I didn't know that the bodies were changed on these, so what changed on them and when did it happen please? Edit: Also N gauge??
  14. Er, yes I know. Thank you.
  15. No, I recall seeing the 2HAPs into Portsmouth from Waterloo into the late 80s although that would have been NSE days, then we only had units 4201/4301 - 4322, so it probably was reduced from earlier years, but it did happen. Edit: IIRC at some point I think late 80s there was a 10HAP working on Saturday's only from Waterloo to Bournemouth. At this time I think all the units where WD allocated.
  16. According to SEMG 84 is also Waterloo - Pompey HBR via Cobham - Andy's image appears to have a depot sticker for WD.
  17. Got this the other day direct from the publishers. It's a nice little book. Thanks.
  18. Std 4 in Railfreight coal - that is something I would like to see. Presumably there was no issue with levels in the tender either.
  19. AFAIK steamers 2, 3, 5 & 6 are in service. Not sure about the other 3.
  20. I think thats quite a good, sensible list of announcements from Bachmann bearing in mind this us just 1 quarter and another will be along in November. The class 40 and 66 are both examples of common liveries and I think will be popular as well as the previously announced 2HAP. The amount of N gauge coming this quarter is vast. OK, it's pretty much all been previously announced, but until the back log of items already announced is cleared that's just the way it is. Additional green and cream coach coach pack to allow a full rake is very sensible and hopefully the executive liveried Mk1 is a forerunner to some first opens with white roofs and dare I wishlist a N gauge RBR. New tooled 8F, refurb 31, Mk2fs as well as reruns of popular liveries on the class 40 and 47. This is still a new system that Bachmann are operating and there will be a time when the backlog of previously announced and unreleased items are gone and then I imagine these quarterly announcements will have a much bigger impact. Steve
  21. But how long do you give it before saying no more, end of August, end of the year...... Although I have just skimmed through the last few Rail Express Modeller and I cant even see a single mention of either the class 89 or Hastings car in N gauge. Not sure if it would make any real difference though - just an observation.
  22. Shop was open to click and collect on Saturday but not to browse because of Covid.
  23. This is showing the flawed decision Bachmann took in the first instance of choosing to develop the 4CEP - limited choice of livery. Hornby were wiser with the VEP, they just executed it badly where as the CEP was well done but just limited. As you say blue SYP never done but nothing else left to do without full retool to the refurb version. If Hornby would revisit the VEP they have plenty of liveries left to do. The first run of CEPs absolutely flew off the shelves but then I think I only paid £90 each for my pair new, but since then things have slowed substantially, not only just because of excessive price but the fact that in this country we are way to loco-centric and one thing that put me off the last blue/grey release was coach numbers for set 7152 but unit 7106 on the front which is just annoying and I don't have enough faith in my own skills to renumber it to have decent standard. Sorry for the topic deviation. Steve
  24. All I can remember seeing once the 119s had gone were 101 or 117, both types quite common including Redhill to Tonbridge before the Thumpers came back. Never recall seeing a 104 at all.
  25. Oval everytime. Had one as a child and they still grab my attention more than anything else as a 46 year old. I remember being at the NEC a few years ago and trying to peer over the shoulders of crowds about 3 deep at an absolute marvel of a layout, except the operators were clearly following a pre-defined schedule and nothing was happening. Moved on and a bit later came across the Hornby stand with a roundy roundy trainset layout. Must have stood there for half an hour by myself just watching the trains go round and round. Loved it.
