Having pre-ordered, cancelled, re-pre-ordered at least 5 times since this was announced I had finally decided to pass on it purely because of financial reasons. Turns out I am a very weak person so ordered a deluxe one from Rails on Wednesday. It arrived this morning. What can I say that others have not? It's superb, it's a masterpiece, it's everything a fan of the film could want. Also as others have said, for some reason it does not like photography! The red looks very garish in photos but in the flesh it looks perfect. Prospective owners need not worry on that front.

Well maybe we read different threads, because I have absolutely seen complaints about fictional/non-prototypical liveries in threads for Rapido, Hattons, and Hornby. And as has been mentioned many times before, KR get so much stick because they seem to care more about producing "what if" liveries that bare NO relevance to the prototype than actually getting details and research right in the first place.

Well, that has taken me back! I used to be massively into A Very British Civil War. 11 years ago a bunch of us who lived in Worcestershire and Herefordshire did a game scenario based on trying to capture Woofferton Junction from the BUF. I'm so pleased to see AVBCW again after all these years 🙂

There is a lot to question about the livery choice, but KR are a law unto themselves when it comes to that. With each new loco they seem to be going for more and more nonsensical liveries. I am also very interested to see what the announcement will be.

KR are at it again with nonsense liveries, but that isn't the point of this post. I'm posting this purely because it is an updated 3D render which shows the correct smokebox/front end arrangement on the loco 👍 The FB post also had this update: "We will have the first running sample at Warley this year, which will also include a new announcement to do with the Big Bertha model and maybe even potential future models. Exciting times are ahead for sure!" Hopefully the samples at Warley will answer the last major question about the models, will the two different era versions have the different reverser lever styles. Fingers crossed we finally get an answer!

Lovely little loco and should prove to be a popular choice. Seems a shame though they aren't offering it in the nice lined L&Y livery the surviving one has carried in preservation.

A very nice choice, and a perfect companion to the Heljan Ruston 48DS. Lovely to see the trend over recent years for small locos in O gauge continuing.

I tried to join the FB group but seemingly was unsuccessful. I'm pretty sure I answered the questions, but I'm not much of an FB user so maybe I did something wrong. Either way I'll just have to hope one day in the future we get another photo posted on here. Tom is without a doubt one of the most talented and inspiring modellers in the hobby, and I hope we get to see more at some point.

No.10 was in fine form today when I visited. First time seeing it in person. The weather couldn't have been better and it was thoroughly enjoyable! The driver was full of praise for the loco. He said that while No.7 is lovely to drive, No.10 is effortless. You just point her in a direction and off she goes 😄 Absolutely superb effort by all involved in the project, and I could not be happier to see both Corris types finally represented by the home fleet! 👍

I would expect a locomotive such as Scotsman to have an experience crew, who must be very well versed in carrying out procedures such as this. It's shocking that they could show such disregard for safety and good practice. Nothing in that video in any way indicates they were distracted or had any problems on the footplate, so it can only come down to either complacency or competence. This was a 100% avoidable collision and questions need to be raised about their actions.

As far as I know the Class 11s were based on the type of LMS shunters that became the D3/6 under BR. Like the jackshaft ones, some of these were also used by the War Department. No. 7069 is preserved and is being restored (photo from Wikipedia)

I was typing a very lengthy reply, but at the end of the day I can't be bothered to argue. Until I see proof this deal is good for Warlord in the long run, I remain sceptical.

Given everything that has happened with Hornby over the last 10+ years, I'd love to know where in this news I'm supposed to find anything positive.

Oh marvellous, another fantastic brand Hornby can eventually get a majority stake in and run into the ground! 🙄 And then bang goes the biggest player in the non-Warhammer wargaming market. Seriously Hornby? Can you please not try to ruin all the hobbies I like?

Looks like a stunning model even at this stage! I won't be getting one, but I have no doubt it'll do really well and it's fantastic to see the prototype finally seeing the light of day in RTR 👍

To be honest I could see that being popular. Unlike a lot of what if/fictional livery models, that would at least have contemporary precedence. And it seemed to work well for Hornby when it came to the LNER lined green W1. After all, that livery only existed in illustration but didn't stop the model being hugely popular.

Also on the smokebox front, that had also been raised on Facebook and KR gave the same response that these renders do not fully represent what the physical model will look like. On this point I am inclined to believe them as the actual CADs they released previously DID in fact get the smokebox details right (such as the numberplate, handrail, lack of dart, etc) I'm coming to the conclusion that the 3D renders were mainly done just to showcase the liveries rather than the overall progress of the models themselves. Obviously we wont know for sure until the actual EPs eventually break cover, but I doubt KR would get a major detail wrong after the fact when they already got it right in the first place. I could end up being wrong, and it could be that KR have somehow managed to take a huge step backwards on some details. But I'm not going to condemn them before we know for sure.
