My own point of interest is in being able to purchase a single N C Motorail car. I could not afford a 3 car set from Heljan, nor have the size of layout to run three. So EFE have definitely done the right thing as far as I am concerned. Thank you.

When I worked for BR Southern, it was often joked that Stewarts Lane Depot only ever used hammers to maintain their trains!!!

New Civil Engineer is now reporting the landslide, the article being illustrated with a nice photo of 5542 and train. What surprised me was the following lines from the article: This has led to the cancellation of a number of its Winterlights services, which takes passengers through the Somerset countryside illuminated by Christmas lights displays. Local reports have slated the cancellations as a positive thing as the cash-strapped railway reportedly is running on a £1,000-a-day loss. I make no comment as I do not know all the facts but this statement about the finances comes as a shock.

Perhaps it is going to be a major rebranding and they will be known as Accuratescale.......

The Grove - alumini on RMWeb?
EdChap replied to MyRule1's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
Went to The Grove on an introduction to management course. Everybody else there was MS1 or above that grade but I was a CO5 grade to many of their surprise. Still did not get a management job before privatisation though 😢 -
For those people still running the original APT model, I was somewhat surprised to see it feature in a clip I was sent from Top of The Pops!!! (Warning to any snowflakes, this was perfectly acceptable then) Now, what TV programmes do you think the new model could appear in?

I have just read the page about naming 110 new trains in Wales by school children and it mentions that some winners will receive a Hornby model of their winning train & name! https://news.railbusinessdaily.com/train-naming-competition-winners-announced/ It might be nothing or is it something new I wonder. Wow, the sound of toys being thrown out of prams is astonishing. Hornby have clearly been working on this for some time.

My favourite has to be Oswestry station. A beautiful and grandiose building that just shouts out for more work to be done to rebuild the opposite platform and lay all three tracks through the station.

Could I be troublesome and ask what is "The Lining Cord" as referenced above, please. Ed

Government To Scrap Rail Franchises
EdChap replied to Pandora's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
I guess what is needed is some form of Railway body that could take a strategic look at the railways and have the authority to make things happen. I just can't think of a suitable name though.- 96 replies

But perhaps we should know which company made that suspension part originally, as they might have a sister company who supplies parts for trains! Thus any conspiracy theories can go on and on and..... -

I thought that tube was for mice to scuttle through safely, thus avoiding them being trodden on by people walking off the end of the platform!! Ed Chap -
Perhaps it is a Peckett that is not painted and comes with a selection of Humbrol paints and 29 sets of transfers, so that you can make your own individual Peckett….. Ed Chap

For those hoping for a GWR locomotive, perhaps the Docklands Light Railway gives us a clue. There are two stations that might be relevant: All Saints and Star Lane Ed Chap
