As a side note off to Dortmund next week for the intermodellbau, not my first time but am concerned it’s not the show it was as a number of big sellers according to the floor plan are absent.

Im going there myself and haven't been since 2019. Just had a look at floor plan. It looks like part of hall 7 has been given over to a Lego section rather than traders. Not seen Lego at Intermodelbau before. I’m still confident I’ll be able to spend my duty free allowance!

.    He has a long ladder plus a stand-off but is basically too much of a coward these days re-enforced by statements such as "You're not going up there on that ladder, it's not safe".

Thought @polybear would be able to help you out on that one.

But it’s not only the luxury goods market that is affected by counterfeits; for example aviation parts, and PHARMACEUTICALS are also frequently counterfeited and in both these cases, counterfeits can kill you.
    .

About 10 years ago we were preparing for a system to detect  counterfeit pharmaceuticals which was a real PIA and would addd significantly to the time it took to dispense an item. The system fell by the wayside and think Brexit had something to do with it. I did read an article somewhere that in the history of the NHS no counterfeit pharmaceuticals had entered the supply chain.
On a similar note it still surprises me that according to the US  tv shows/films I watch prescribed medicines are still supplied loose in tablet bottles rather than patient packs. One of the advantages of the pre pack is that a patient information leaflet is automatically supplied to the patient. I would have thought in such a litigious society patient information leaflets would be mandatory.

As a country we were late to the original patent pack supply ethos but it’s been with us for probably 20years now.

    Anyway Goodnight (again)

  4. Evening All,

Spent a good part of the weekend massaging the books,  month end, year end and preparing for retirement.

I did try to cut out palm oil but with other ingredients I need to avoid it is very difficult.

For the same reason I’m used to odd flours, such as pea and potato flour. They certainly make your fairy buns taste a bit odd.

Perhaps Jamie Oliver’s books are more ‘a taste of XXXXXX’  using quick and simple techniques and readily available/accessible ingredients. Wouldn’t know myself as I don’t need any books, I can boil an egg satisfactorily (most of the time) all on my own.
    Goodnight.

One of the few to have endured the trial by time and have been out their thrashing their kit since 1979. They have worn out quite a few drummers along the way.

Olga is quite a handy guitar-wrangler too.

Two of my favourites. Both covers.

And they’ve even recorded a song  specially for @polybear

What about the TV chefs who taste sauces straight from the pan using the stirring spoon?

  7. The trouble with ‘pick your own’ or ‘fill your own’ is the risk of contamination.
I’ve looked at a few outlets that sell this way but the risk is too great for me to consider using them.

A great idea to save on packaging etc.

The cafe/healthy living store in Penistone that we frequent does have fill your own washing up liquid etc.

Time for me to start tea, as it will be cooking for over 2 hours.

Braising steak topped with some lean bacon under a covering of red, green & orange peppers, tomatoes and spring onion with a vegetable stock.  Will be accompanied by some fried mash when done.

    All fresh produce.

What time should I come round?

Traditionally you had a front / best room in which you would invite visitors. Kept immaculately neat and tidy. This was the one the vicar would be invited to for tea

When I go my friends (Nick , Neil knows him) we ‘take tea in the parlour!’

The fact that the original post mentioned that it has  3 of them caused my original confusion.

Reminds me of the episode of Black Adder where in one room he is ‘entertaining ‘ his drinking pals while simultaneously entertaining his Presbyterian extended family in another reception room.

Do you keep a window open at night for fresh air?  Have you had a glass of water late on so you are not dehydrated.

I know I always get a terrible night's sleep in hotels - hot sweats and palpitations - and I've put that down to dehydration and stuffy rooms.

At home it has to be really cold before I fully shut the window, even in a gale I'll have it open a crack where it can be locked in position.

Like you no late night caffeine any more, in fact hardly any caffeine at home and normally reserved for journeys to keep alert.

As i said not usually a problem, room usually 18C but having windows will disturb swbo and the dogs. I think the sweating would occur regardless of the ambient temp.

Hmm. Receptions Rooms -----> house plans....

I'd say you need (ground floor) a living room (aka reception room), dining room, library/study. a snug (like a living room but smaller with comfy well worn [and worn-in] furniture), a decent sized entrance hall plus downstairs "guest" toilet (WC). The kitchen should be of a reasonable size with a "proper" walk in larder. If budget (and building footprint) permits - then a music room and/or a billiard/smoking room are very nice nice-to-haves. A proper "boot room" leading out into the garden/side entrance is a big must if you have dogs and/or a Percy Thrower in the family.

It goes without saying that an adjacent garage and a decent sized shed should be mandatory outside fixtures.

Upstairs: an appropriate number of bedrooms - preferably all en-suite. To keep SWMBO contended (as far as they can ever be) at least one bedroom should have an adjacent walk-in wardrobe/small dressing room.

The attic can be converted into a "man cave" for when it's too cold for shedding.

Is that a description of ‘the holiday hovel’, your town house or CC’s Alpine redoubt?

You have my sympathy, i have had night sweats for several years now. Combination of low testosterone, 3PD and other issues. I only drink decaf tea and coffee now but sometimes a glass of watered down merlot but it can be debilitating with palpitations as well. I dont think this very unseasonable dreary spring weather helps do you?

Sorry to hear your sweats but mine arn't that frequent and usually associated with periods or stress.
I did used to drink far too much caffeine but now limited but none after 6ish, doc’s orders.

Tiss amazing the things that 'parents' acquire.

Its my sisters, found with her old medical text books. I think it was given to her by a GP friend of my dads. Must admit it was a bit of a shock when I opened up the carrier bag.
I have another similar story but thats for later.
