  1. Looks great, I’ve just pre-ordered D423 😃👍🏼
  2. Well I keep hoping for an EE type 4 every time there’s an announcement so this time I’m keeping quiet 🙄🤞🏼
  3. Another hour modelling time this afternoon, I managed to saw the ply board I got yesterday down the middle so that should cover the track bed for the up and down mains, the first board will be 6’ long by around 18” I’m thinking but the width might be a little more or less. For the rest of the junction I’m thinking of maybe two 3’ long boards as this will make them easier to handle as they will be a lot wider. Some photos below of what to expect in the form of track on the first board although I need to add another 60’ track section at the toe of the point, sorry Mike more Templot 😉 Paul
  4. Thanks Keith I’m determined to finish it this time! I’ve also learnt a lot since my first efforts so hopefully I can give it a bit if wow factor. Well that’s the plan anyway 😉 Thanks again Paul
  5. Hi Mike it took me years to get to grips with it but once you do it all clicks and it’s pretty easy to use although I’m no expert and I only know the basics but keep trying and you will get it, there’s a few tutorials on YouTube now to. Paul
  6. Tonight’s progress, the missing timbers are where copper clad sleepers will go, in the past I’ve not used them but during construction of the last couple of turn outs I’ve built I have added them and it does make a things a bit more solid especially around the vee’s
  7. I must admit it’s nice to be writing on this thread again (how long will it last I hear you all cry 🤔) timbers arrived the other day along with lenghths of BH rail and Exactoscale chairs, great service once again from the EM gauge society. So today I’ve been painting timbers ready to glue down onto the Templot which I’m hoping to carry on with tonight, I’ve also marked out where the point rodding, signal pulley wire etc will go to. I also bought some ply today which I will cut down to size for the track bed, this will make it easier to work on around the house as it will only be around 10-15” wide and once done I will add the boards. Paul
  8. I’ve survived four early’s (getting up at 0400 does not agree with me!!) so I’ve literally been getting home tea, shower and bed so no modelling whatsoever, I have been thinking of a few ideas though and I’ll be working on the shed building over the next couple of days hopefully. Bits n’ bobs from EM gauge society have arrived to in the form of chairs, rail and sleepers etc so I’ll be cracking on with the junction for Edge Lane. Not sure where to post progress on that as my original thread is still in the 7mm section although I have asked for it to be moved so I’ll wait and see what happens before I decide whether to start a new one.
  9. Not much to report over the weekend other than, timbers, sleepers and chairs have been ordered from the EM gauge society so once they arrive I can crack on with a few things and tonight I lay a few tracks out to see what size the real Edge Hill will take up. I’ve got 8’x2’ to play with and it fits in with room to spare, I could make it narrower but if keep it at 2’ I can fit in two stabling roads that used to be part of the main shed. The real Edge Hill diesel servicing shed Track roughly laid out tonight The two lines along side the fuel storage road are the two in the pic below (not mine) where the disc headcode 40 is and the cl25
  10. Following this with interest Colin, as I’m downsizing my plans, less is more and all that 😉 travelling pas on our company normally means a 2h taxi ride at the moment I’m jealous 😂 Looking forward to more pics and loving the track work. Paul
  11. Again for those who never seen my original ELJ in OO and then EM here’s some pics, it also proves I do sometimes get past just the track laying stage 😂
  12. Thanks Mike chatting with you, Phil and Brian really helped this week and I actually feel relaxed and happy about what I want for the first time ever I think. I’m not undecided about anything and my mind is not racing with a thousand ‘what if’s’ and ideas. I’m 100% happy with ELJ and how that will be and I’m 99% happy with Edge Hill there’s just some concerns on how I will do certain things but I’m totally happy with just modelling the real location how it was. Not quite as exciting I’m afraid but at least it’s manageable. Thanks again
  13. Morning all no progress this week but lots to think about as I will be making a few changes, like most things with our modelling fantasies it’s easy to get carried away with how big and complicated layouts can become. I’ve been back modelling for over ten years now and I’ve not completed a layout yet so to allow that and allow some fun and actually ‘play trains’ I’m cutting back the wild plans and going back to basics. Edge Hill will be built but I’m building Edge Hill how it was, a small two road servicing shed, I still need to work out the exact track plan to scale and what I’ll include but the overall length going by quick measurements comes in at well under 8’ which will be ideal. As some of you might of also seen this isn’t my only project, I’ve decided to make my original planned layout Edge Lane Junction my long term project with if done to scale will be a maximum of 12’ long, I know fiddle yards need to be taken into account but initially small cassette either end will allow running etc, but for me it’s more making something with that extra detail and realism and that goes for both projects. Here’s a roughly laid out track plan for those who’ve not heard of ELJ, the only difference from the original is I added a third line to the up and down main to allow use of AC locos
  14. Nice videos there Rod very enjoyable 😉👍🏼
  15. Cheers mate I’ll take a look 😃👍🏼
  16. Thanks Phil I actually thought about a helix but would have you look into it a bit further, if I do start this do I hand build all track or just the points 😉
  17. Meant to say this plan is in 4mm, I’ve asked Andy could he please move the thread back to the appropriate section 👍🏼
  18. The garage is getting converted next year, but to be honest the scenic section at max is only 12’ asks at its widest just under 3’ the narrowest being just 1’ and that’s if it’s built to scale, as for fiddle yard I’d prob use cassettes etc.
  19. Right must admit it’s been a while since anything model related has been posted on this thread regarding ELJ itself. A lot of things have happened over the last couple of years, as most of you know I’ve returned to 4mm since my dive into O gauge and am currently building a depot based layout, but what’s peoples thoughts on this? Is ELJ still popular enough to build? Will I ever finish something I start? One thing I do know is that I keep coming back to this… ELJ 4th time luck? Apologies for the photos the light was awful
  20. So sorry CS only just seen your comment so again I do apologise. Apart from two locos they are all sold on, the others I’m just awaiting payment.
  21. It’s called Paul 😂 it would be so much easier if I had one but then were would all the fun be! I kind of like being old school and scratch building everything gives a sense of achievement or disappointment if it looks crap 🤣
  22. Tonight’s progress was the stores platform and some work on the stores itself
  23. Well after many late nights last week the school project was finally finished, so today seen me make a start on the hard standing using foamex, got quite a bit done but then got a call from the school to pic a poorly daughter up (big finger showing still to do bit)
