  1. Not a problem, I must say your layout looks great, keep it a secret, I have quite a large amount of GWR stock in my collection
  2. I suppose I better get a Digital Camera - now whats a good, cheap, easy to use model?

Canon G series are well regarded.(G10/11/12/15)

  3. If there was international Football being played in my back garden, I would release the hounds, close the curtains, call the police, and watch paint drying far more entertaining and skilful
  4. Well all this free time, has seen me in a frenzy of activity, well it would of, if the weather had not decided to gang up on me, it's too hot. Oh and my uncanny ability to find tasks on the layout that just eat modelling hours (more on that project on a future entry maybe). Anyway in between super gluing my fingers together with a brilliant hit rate (have you seen how quickly this stuff sets in the warm temperature, I barely had time to mutter "Oh sh*@t " before they were stuck fast), and being chased around the room by some rabid WASPS, I have managed to finish the 8F restoration I have been working on. "Thank heavens for that" I can hear you say or similar phrases are available, the old girl has been given a light coat of sooty black to look like an engine recently out of the workshops but put to work to earn her crust. I even applied a similar finish to the Fairburn as a nice change to my usual grimy looking loco fleet. just for the Spotter out there the 8f is No 8660 and the Fairburn No 2678 A pet hate of mine is the lack of crews in locomotives, and I have got them waiting for the 8F and Fairburn. They will report for duty as soon as I can remove them from my thumb (I wonder if thumbs are left or right hand drive?). Still here are a couple of pictures of the old girl and the Fairburn, until next time as ever Happy Modelling
  5. There are currently works in progress, though not up to your standards
  6. Its only a game and not a very interesting one at that, now if we were talking Cricket, or even better Rugger......
  7. Brilliant truly brilliant
  8. I must admit I'm not generally a modern fan. but this layout and its stock has got me hooked, and a local location to boot (excuse the bad term)
  9. Well I have managed to apply a very light coat of weathering to the Fairburn, and the 8F is now 8660, finally got the number lined up correctly..........but all this Freedom is freaking me out....I'm scared I think I might hide under the duvet and wait for the Domestic Overlord to come home
  10. Yes Ive had the superglue out again, though its not my fault, the Domestic Overlord has left me in the house all day alone, and wont be back to late.........what's the worst that could happen?
  11. Well the progress on restoring one of my 8F locomotives, to an LMS example has seen quite a lot of progress in a very short space of time. Gone is the terrible LNER graffiti on her tender sides, and the number scrawled across her cab sides, and the area has been made ready to receive suitable LMS lettering and fleet number (I still have to chose a suitable number). The moulded coal load has been removed and replaced with a slightly depleted load of real coal. I even have a suitable crew lines up, just waiting for the major surgery required to fit them into the cab, and I have even managed to fit cab windows, using my trusty method of clear plastic and superglue. So flushed was I with success that I even managed to fit windows into my Fairburn tank, which is turning out to be one of my slowest ever builds . All I need to do now is finally decide on a number and both the loco's can receive a little weathering, I think a light coating for both of them???? To be honest I was quite enjoying this little project until reality hit me..... 1. The Domestic Overlord must have something major planned for me as not obstruction of comment has me made about me spending time with my trains (I can feel some form of DIY/Decorating punishment coming up) 2. I found a rough doodle, of the plan I had for the layout I drew a couple of years ago, which is actually pretty close to the real thing, (surely this is not meant to happen ) 3. I now have more scale panes of glass glued to my fingers and arms, than you would see in one of those "I say you buy one you get one free" adverts. Apologies for the poor pictures, as ever Happy Modelling
  12. Im in shock the doodle I did of my layout before starting to build it actually looks like the layout?? I need to lie down

  13. They must have been some sort of minor affair otherwise they would have been more well known Thanks for the comments about the green stuff, board 3 is currently having the green bits worked on so once its at a passable stage I may post a picture
  14. The dreaded LNER references have now gone from the old girl, and once I have done a little research to find a Northwest based example, it will eventually be moved to the paint shops to have her new numbers applied. (Before the LNER Nuts, sorry Chaps come looking for blood, I do have a couple of their loco's for Foster Street, a green V2 and a J39 I built long before the Farish model, I may even be persuaded to photograph them )
  15. I think the LNER classified them as O6 locomotives, the good news is the locomotive has already had the numbers and lettering removed, and the coal in the tender has been removed. All I need to do now is fill a little crack in the tender top near the filler vents and its ready for the next stages of its restoration.

  17. What is the world coming too? you turn your back for two minutes and before you know it you're the victim of a bunch of brainless vandals. Yes Foster Street has been attacked and horrific damage has been inflicted on the environment, will the layout ever be the same again? There was I being a busy little bee, and there was a knock at the from door. I was only away 5 minutes, trying to explain politely to the salesman that although his product was environmentally friendly, it was not for me as I did not need a solar powered and heated cat bed and well being pod. Despite the compelling evidence that 9 out of 10 frozen Puss cats prefer warm tootsies and a spot of reflective yoga in the winter, I did not have a Cat nor was a likely to own one, and that if he did not sod off the local environment would not be very friendly for him. Once the nice gentleman had buggered off, err sorry departed to find a Cat owning tree hugger customer, I returned to the spare room to continue my modelling to find that some bunch of Numpties had attacked a lovely 8F and painted this rubbish on the tender, I mean who are these LNER people, I bet its got something to do with that silly football lot that are all over the TV... I better get my tools out and restore the old girls dignity, I mean she cant be seen out in public like this, what would the neighbours say....until next time Happy Modelling
