  1. I fitted a set of RT models' brake rods using the thin Peco track pins, they are a good fit in the brake hangers. When I came to do my next one I'd mislaid the second set so I cut the pins off the Hornby rodding and there is a tiny indent on the outside of the moulding so you can line up and drill them with a 0.6 mm bit. The Peco pins are a push fit, easy to line up, and you can use epoxy or superglue to hold them. When it's all set, cut off the excess behind the hangers. Ash.
  2. I had a similar nightmare with a fitted West Country, just an intermittent short. I ended up changing it back to analogue and spinning it up in the dark. The centre driver had so much side play it was tracking onto the chassis. As you say, steam outline is much more "interesting" Ash.
  3. Hi Mikkel It's such a relief to see you posting again, I was afraid "Slipper boy" would be your swan song . Just a thought about the lack of gutters on your smaller shelter, the one at Lustleigh does have a brick base, if the wooden structure sits directly on a hard floor you will get rot up the lower nine inches or so. We don't have heavy rain, just lots of little bits, so the constant drip and splashing up causes the bottom planks/ends to be damp all the time. Either an interesting retro-fit of gutters or a different weathering opportunity. Keep up the good work, I always admire your depth of research. Ash.
  4. I don't know how to post a link, but if you look on you tube, " Mercedes, Shopping in Lidl" , shot in Bell Green, Catford.Just to lighten the mood in these worrying times. Ash
  5. Thanks, Colin. The files are far too large at present, I'll get my head round re-sizing, or take some more pictures with my other half's compact camera. We all have our "niche" in this hobby, I don't struggle with wiring or fitting decoders, but computers are not my strong point. P.S. I just have to say "Chapeau" to Mikell for making it into the monthlys with the Honorable Slipper Boy.---------- I lurk on the Farthing Layouts as well. Ashley.
  6. Hi Gents, As a longtime "Lurker" on N2B, just thought I'd say I used Brooklands Green on my two Unrebuilts, very pleased with the finish and the shade of green, updating the Mallchite Bude , using the 4,500 Gallon tender from Dapol. I've got some pictures somewhere but have no idea how to post them. Had enough trouble attaching the avatar . Ashley.
  7. Mikkel Your Blog is a constant source of amusement and your scratch building an inspiration to many of us. Happy New Year, Rich.
