  1. The fiddle yard isn't quite completed.. Similar to your idea, there are going to be a couple of sidings on the inside. The idea that thew autocoach and also goods running can be arranged in the fiddle yard, pass over the first crossover to the correct line and then make it's way around the layout. But, I decided to build the station area... The joy of this hobby is to be able to jump around between jobs :)
  2. I'll echo the comments about the BRM appearance, well deserved. It's shame you now have nothing booked, I'm sure there are many exhibition managers that would take such an amazing layout.
  3. Time to get some nice long sidings into the yard...
  4. Me too.. Thought about not doing it, but she looks just too nice.. And I need some larger locos for my new railway. :)
  5. I played with the track and moving some stock around last night. I think this is the best layout for the yard. Buy keeping the bay away from the slip, I get two small advantages, the headshunt is a little straighter going into the slip, should help running. And the bay can have a wagon added or removed from the main line train, without messing with the yard.
  6. Interestingly... Neither the railcar or autocoach have any couplings..
  7. I've got the base of the platform built and the point motor in place, it's a surface mount as the rear supports are in the way. Glad I did that now, as the motor didn't fit and needed to tweak the siding. Testing with some long parcels stock..
  8. Ah, dairy hasn't moved, top left still.

I'll see what I can do....
  10. With the bay platform worked out yesterday, I started to build the rear platforms. Didn't get quite as far as I expected, I was looking after my two nieces and my daughter, I honestly didn't expect to see them all afternoon. They found a box of bits and the railway spent the afternoon transporting crates back and forth. They had a great time, but always makes me very nervous as they are grabbing things in and out of trucks. One Cattle wagon took a trip to the floor, so needs to go into the repair pile. Looking at the bay platform, I figured I could get a short one in the front for a 'brown wagon' or two.. I looking a the two track plans for the yard, with the bay. Wondering if the slip would be in the first or second position. Clearly, having the slip on the bay siding means I can shunt the whole yard while the kids are running trains round and round. The head shunt in the first one is a little long, it certainly wouldn't be that long.

Mine, having been chipped, and I had to really mess with the cv settings, but she runs fine. Looks smart with my upgraded Airfix autocoach.

https://www.world-of-railways.co.uk/news/live-from-ally-pally-show-autocoach-promised-for-oo About time this one got updated!
  13. I did some more work last night with the kids.. Firstly they wanted to work out where the dairy is going to sit, it took some damage when we removed it from the old layout, but should fine after a few repairs. Then I started to get the track in for the bay platform. I want to start building the platforms at the weekend, so I need to work out how long the bay is going to be, I think as long as possible! The genesis coaches need to fit, I need room to use as a head shunt for the dairy etc..
  14. That black 5 is really nice. And I totally agree about the smell of oil and motors, I've some 80s Hornby that were my Grandfathers, totally can still remember him when they are running. I've not chipped any, so unfortunately I only run them at my railway club, but they won't be going anywhere.
  15. Thanks - I need to get him an 08, maybe with sound :)
  16. Very tempted by the Manor... Hope yours does make it to Spain quickly.
  17. £40! Yike, should have just bought her a bottle or two, might have been cheaper.
  18. It's been a bit of a team effort. The viaduct was all Abigail, but then the base scenery of paper mache was a team effort.. He's then done the base grass etc. But, now she wants to take over and finish! Part of it, the grass is to dark, looks dead and we need to work out what the water area in the middle is going to look like. She has plans to expand an area to be a farm, which is off the the right and should form a good scenic break the fiddle yard. It's nice that they are all finding the parts they enjoy and we can work together.
  19. Ballasting.. That's looking smart Andy.. My little boy wanted a class 37, of course sound fitted. These 80s diesels are pretty addictive.. (Short video on my thread) :)
  20. Someone who knows his golf brands.. It's also my name, so I can have personal golf equipment...
  21. Should be as good as Little Muddle in about an hr 😂 Actually started to really bring out his artist side, mixing the grass, darker ones etc. I did some static grass, but honestly it didn't stand up that well....
  22. Seeing as I just posted the class37.. I can see an HST at some point!! I just grabbed the 37 and GWR centenary coach. They crash. I think the best option is to flexi-track the inside, as the outside starts on a point, there is actually more room than it looks from first glance.
