Small point with J413.. Black 5 numbering started at 44658. So 44617 is probably a typo?

Here is a shot I took around 1965-66 and at that time there were two cranes in use. There is a lorry between the cranes so it was possible to get alongside the loading platform while the cranes were there. In the latter part of 1965 I had to travel from Carlisle to Cardiff, changing trains at Newport. While waiting for a train I started talking to a railway worker who told me not to catch the first train to Cardiff but wait for the second on which was steam hauled. Sure enough, the train arrived hauled by 7029 Clun Castle. The worker told me this was a regular working for 7029. Its home shed at that time was Gloucester Horton Road. Does anyone know anything about this regular working and the dates involved? I took quite a lot of photos of it, being the last working Castle. Here are a couple I took at Cardiff.

Here is a shot I took in Carlisle in the early 1960s. Not a car expert so I don't know the maker or type.

Class 45 (possibly D16) crosses over the West Coast Mail Line at Kingmoor in February 1964 with 1S64, the northbound Waverley.

Here is a photo I took of 35029 Ellerman Lines on a 3 coach down train. Taken south of Brockenhurst on 19 August 1966. It returned later that day with a 4 coach train.

I was amazed when I came across Grange 6858 on Huddersfield shed while on a railrover in 1964. Nottingham Victoria was the farthest north that Great Western locomotives ventured down the Great Central, except on rare occasions. One of these occasions took place on 15 August 1964 when engine No. 6858 Woolston Grange working the Poole to Bradford/Leeds train, and which normally would have come off at Leicester or Nottingham, managed due to an oversight by control, to reach Huddersfield. However, en route, it had hit the platform edge at Berry Brow station between Penistone and Huddersfield. The loco was quickly removed to Huddersfield shed where it languished well inside until it was towed to Crewe as an out of gauge load two weeks later.

Here is a photo I took in early 1964 of a Metrovick Class 28 D5704. Anyone recognise the station?

C9110 is at plaform 3 heading north towards Glasgow and Edinburgh....

Apart from occasional trip workings, it spent most of its time shunting in London Road sidings along with N15 69155

The weather really deteriorated later that day. Here is BR Standard 5 73080 Merlin approaching (by the docks in the background) Southampton station. Slightly out of focus but with an Ilford Sportsman and its 1/250 shutter speed with no light meter on a heavily overcast day not a bad photo!

Thanks for that Peter. Next negative on the film strip is this shot taken from the train approaching a junction between Bournemouth and Southampton. Not much to go on here. The loco hauling me is West Country 34026 Yes Tor

Another interloper here in the form of Modified Hall 6961 Stedham Hall. Photo taken somewhere between Weymouth and Bournemouth, again on the 9th August 1965.
