  1. Your scratchbuilt Optare Solo is excellent, especially as its such a difficult shape.
  2. Everyone needs to be patient. Locomotion have a huge job sending them all out from their cupboard at Shildon. Given that Locomotion had a weekend at Ally Pally followed by York show the following weekend, I think you'll find Sandra hasn't had a day off for ages. We should all be thanking her for such dedication and hard work in getting the models out as fast as possible.

    Peco & Piko

I have a Piko G scale diesel loco, while it is OK, the quality is much below that of LGB. The main problem is that the electrical connectors come apart. However, it was much much cheaper than LGB locos.
  4. Took my parents for a run out to Shildon today. Collected my APT, thanks Sandra. My parents really enjoyed Locomotion, thanks to all the staff there for making us welcome and for lending us a wheelchair so my mum could look round the museum. On the way home visited where I was born, just down the road from Shildon. Back home mother must have been dreaming about riding on the tilting APT, got her home and she tilted off her chair onto the floor.
  5. Ask the driver for a rover ticket.
  6. Yup, its an Advanced Passenger Train, so you need a advanced controller.
  7. Could someone please explain the differences between the Mk3s on the prototype HST and the production Mk3s?
  8. At least you didn't do what I did once - knocked the soldering iron off the workbench and with amazing reflex action, caught it - but only briefly, I caught it by the hot end. Ouch. Good luck with the build.
  9. Here it is on this mornings Preston - Barrow.
  10. 402 is working one of the Cumbrian Coast passenger diagrams today, looks stunning.
  11. Coming with two security people and armoured car to keep my APT safe.
  12. Thanks Sandra, I've ordered a sound fitted one. I won't be arriving early as Shildon is a long way from Lancashire. ColinK
  13. Just got my shifts for next week, I've a day off on Tuesday and no urgent jobs at home. Planning a trip to Shildon to go and pick mine up. Do I need to take anything with me?
  14. A bit of toilet humour, gents in the Lake district.
  15. Look good, but hope they are not ready for a while as I have an APT to pay for first.
  16. Walking through London today, going faster than the traffic jam near Cannon Street. In the queue was a taxi with a illuminated sign on the roof. At first it was saying 'message from TfL, road works on xxx are going to cause dalays' Sign then changed to advert for 'Les Miserables'. I'd be miserable sitting in that queue.
  17. Nice to finally see it on the Locomotion stand at Ally Pally. Good to meet Sandra and Simon who have done such a good job of keeping everyone up to date on progress. From talking to them, we should all be recieving them pretty soon. If we can all be patient and stop asking them about delivery dates, they'll have more time to send them out.
  18. And I suppose you could name one of them 'Sir Lancealot'.
  19. Regarding the pole from the front of the APT-E. If you have two sets on order, you could fit the poles on the front of each set and try jousting on your R2 curves. Off on my horse now...
  20. There is also a bungallow currently for sale in Hest Bank which has a model of Glenfinnan Viaduct in the garden. My parents looked at it when they were looking to move, gave us quite a suprise.
  21. Now had the email asking me to pay the balance, which I have done. All handled very well by Locomotion. Decided to pick mine up from Shildon. Looking forward to the day out.
  22. Is it the spam for Mr Tilt's sandwiches?
  23. Wonder who will make a sound decoder including the sound of bagpipes being played at Kyle station?
  24. Thanks Izzy, it will be on its way to Howes next week.
  25. Just home from a RCTS meeting which had a digital slideshow on The Blue Diesel Locomotive Period. Two slides stood out for me. First a Western arriving at Derby on a service train from the south; second (and relevant here) the APT-E departing from Derby to Duffield on its first ever mainline run. Nice, looking forward to receiving my model.
