  1. I like the suggestion of a Parkside or Cambrian kit. Hope they are reading this.
  2. I've used it brushed on and from a spray can (not airbrushed it). It did dry OK, but I didn't think it worked well as a primer.
  3. But what about one pf the Woodhead co-co electrics?
  4. I remember making one of these years ago. I would be interested in one or two.
  5. Two intriguing photos in the book. On p85 there is 37264 hauling the 1220 Mallaig - Fort William on 14th June 1984. The consist is three Mk 1 coaches, plus what looks like the Bachman Inspection saloon. Why the inspection saloon? While on P91 we see Loadhaul liveried 37698, but the door in the centre of the bodyside appears to be in EWS red and gold. Presumably a replacement door has been fitted?
  6. Home now and had a look at the book. It is superb, a varied collection of interesting photos, all well presented. If you've not ordered a copy, I recommend you order one now before they run out. Fittingly, as I was opening it, the 37 hauled (actually pushed) Cumbrian Coast service went past. I hope other preservation groups produce similar books of their loco class.
  7. Hi Martin, I've just had a message that mine has just been delivered. Looking forward to reading it when I get home from work - driving rail replacement coach, went through Adlington at 0759 this morning.
  8. From the photos on this thread it look just like a class 02 with a bonnet each side of the cab.
  9. I've seen all the ads for this, but haven't yet managed to work out quite what it does, how it works and how you wire it up. Is there a simple explaination somewhere?
  10. Rain hammering down on the conservatory roof.
  11. I see the loco hauled services most days (they pass my house). Yes, punctuality has been a problem, but it seems to be more a case of turnround times that are so short, if a train gets delayed a few minutes, it cannot recover, then with sigle line sections, things only get later and later. There have also been some signalling problems too. Hence I don't think reliability/punctuality problems are due to them being loco hauled sets rather than dmus.
  12. Thanks for the info. Wonder if there will be a rush by preserved lines to buy Pacers?
  13. I've had an email today from 'Hermes' saying the book will be delivered to me in the next few days. Looking forward to it.
  14. Delighted to here that so many have been sold in advance. The delay means we've all got something interesting to read instead of watching all that festive season tv rubbish.
  15. I suggest you talk to Howes, they are very helpfull.
  16. Went to an Indian resturan last night and enjoyed a curry. Didn't have a coffee afterwards having seen the second one on the list! Then went to model railway club where it was the annual photographic competition. The room has a projector built in, the orgainser brought his laptop, but nobody had a cable to connect the two. Oops.
  17. You could then replace the rivet counter detector van with a Big Jim dectector van.
  18. Interesting to learn about the Co-bo trials. Maybe I'll get some hoppers to run behind my Heljan Co-bo now.
  19. I wonder if there is demand for one without any logos on? Then I could have one for my fictious industrial complex.
  20. IIRC, before the 37s they were pulled by single 25's (slow and noisy), occasionally 40s and there was a short lived experiment with pairs of 20s.
  21. Interesting, but why were the cowls removed from some locos?
  22. Please keep posting the pictures. They are helping inspire me to weather and renumber my stock.
  23. Two motorised power cars, both with DCC sound please. I've got a Bachmann Blue Pullman set up like this by Howes and it is superb.
  24. Looks stunning. Almost needs one side of the bodyshell of clear plastic to show off that fantastic detail. I hope Mr Tilt has followed Big Jim to the body scan people so we can have a model of him at his desk.
  25. Another reason to build a shunting layout. Excellent news.
