  1. I've ordered a 4TC and am looking forward to the model. I do prefer moulded handrails as they can't get knocked off as has happened to several of my models (probably as a result of packing and unpacking to attend exhibitions).
  2. Hi, The most difficult job in converting the locos seems to be adding the extra grills. I'm thinking of getting some etched brass ones made, but to do this I needs some good photographs of the actual grills together with the dimensions. Does anyone know where I can get such pictures and measuremens?
  3. For those interested in class 37s, West Coast are running Scarborough Spa trains from Carnforth to Scarborough (where else) on a few days this year. They are steam hauled between York and Scarborough. I've seen a couple of them on the diesel section, both hauled by a pair of 37s.
  4. A couple of days ago I saw one of the Sellafield - Crewe flask trains, two class 66s pulling one waggon. But the flask trains are always doubleheaded whatever the load. Great for modellers with more locos than waggons.
  5. Get them sent seperatly several days apart, then you can say you sent the first one back, the second parcel is its replacement.
  6. A 71 would be totally out of place on my layout, but having heard how good the model is, I've ordered a 74, plus a 4TC for it to pull.
  7. Wow Dave, that's really good of you to answer all those questions. Can't see any other manufacturer doing that.
  8. If you could arrange for the third rail pick up shoes to actually work - that would really be Marklin 1970s! Only joking.
  9. I saw a pair on the Tesco Express a few days ago, accelerating away from Carnforth, fast and noisy. Excellent.
  10. Today my wife and I went to the preserved railway at Kirkby Stephen, it was as their model railway show. An excellent event. One of the attractions was 'drive a diesel for a fiver'. This was the loco. Yes, a Janus. What a great loco and we both had a drive, brilliant. It does mean I'll have to get the model when it comes out. Not sure which one to go for as I would prefer plain green or blue, or even better a model of the one I drove today.
  11. That's reassuring Steve/Ian, having got the current version of the super deltic sound which is pretty good. It will be interesting to hear the new version.
  12. Conversion challenge, buy a 4TC and convert it into a 3TC. IIRC there was a 5TC too, a more difficult conversion.
  13. Just got this news while on holiday. Delighted. Now do I get a 33 or 73 to run with it? Probably an excuse to get both. Well done Kernow and Bachmann.
  14. NCE Power Pro, usually with two handsets in use, occasionally four. Vety happy with it.
  15. Two things from my travels today, First a car with a sgn on the back 'I'm speeding because I need a poo'. Then a car comes down the main street in Skipton, all windows down, loud music blaring out - not some awfull pop music, but Wagner's Ride of the Valkries.
  16. A suggestion, you could use the baseboard you've already made, but add a second smaller board for the 'fiddle yard' or shunting neck, this could be non scenic to keep the height to a minimum. It could then go in the box under the main board. You've got me thinking too.
  17. I don't know how the Diggle route will be electrified. Obviously it will mean a great deal of engineering work, presumably with quite a few closures. But, when these closures take place, what will people do? The Calder Valley line is busy and doesn't serve all the stations, while rail replacement buses on the M62 will not be popular, especially as the motorway is often congested. Any thoughts?
  18. If we all buy one they will be POPing up everywhere. Looks very nice, might have to get one.
