  1. Is it the spam for Mr Tilt's sandwiches?
  2. Wonder who will make a sound decoder including the sound of bagpipes being played at Kyle station?
  3. Thanks Izzy, it will be on its way to Howes next week.
  4. Just home from a RCTS meeting which had a digital slideshow on The Blue Diesel Locomotive Period. Two slides stood out for me. First a Western arriving at Derby on a service train from the south; second (and relevant here) the APT-E departing from Derby to Duffield on its first ever mainline run. Nice, looking forward to receiving my model.
  5. Would it be easier to use miniature plugs and sockets between the coaches?
  6. Thanks Paul, I've just removed the chassis baseplate and lifted the wheels out. One of the gears does indeed appear to have split. I've no idea how to fix the problem though.
  7. I knew TPE were intending ordering new units now they have retained the franchise. Have they placed the order yet?
  8. I got my budget airbrush, compressor and paint from Finishing Touches at Ally Pally show last year, I'm really pleased with it. It uses glass jars for the paint which I find great for weathering. They are at the Chapel-en-le-Frith show this weekend and I bought another similar airbrush from them for just £18, this time with a paint cup for doing more detailed work. Finishing Touches can be contacted on 0116 278 5134. No connection with them other than as a very happy customer.
  9. ...and if you didn't pre-order you will be disappointed.
  10. What a tease. Seriously, many thanks to everyone at Locomotion and Rapido for keeping us informed on progress.
  11. On the Tin Bath railtour recently, we passed through several cuttings where roll of large wire mesh had been fastened to the top of the cutting and unrolled down. Looked like they were just waiting for someone to come along and apply some plaster bandage. Would need a very large static grass machine to finish it.
  12. Several helicopters flying close to the train too. On a more positive note, all the coverage on the news does show plenty of people are still interested in railways.
  13. Many thanks for the words and photos on how to dismantle and reassemble the airbrush. Now I can do mine.
  14. Thanks Andy for sharing these and encouraging constructive comment.
  15. Nice to see the layout. There are lots of trees now, so many houses don't have a good view of the railway. However, following a tree blowing onto the overhead, Network Rail have told us they are going to cut the vegetation back.
  16. A single car dmu is the only item I need (as opposed to would like) for my layout. Hope its out soon.
  17. Hope you sleep soundly Charlie. PS very happy with my Thumper.
  18. Have to say all this attention over Flying Scotsman and coverage on TV etc has been good for our hobby.
  19. Well, you've got the first line written, so just keep going. I suspect many of us would be interested to hear your story.
  20. There was a pacer plus 153 south through Arnside about 1605 yesterday.
