  1. Here's my contribution to this fantastic thread. It is a GSWR loco, built in 1879, and its steam ticket is about to run out this year, but in the meantime it's still as strong as the day it was built, being able to haul 6 coaches with ease. Please click on the photo for better quality.
  2. Has just rode behind a, more than 100 year old engine, and it ran beautifully.

A guess! I'm going on the one next week. 85 will certainly need run in at least, and it isn't even complete yet. It will get cosmetic maintenance and a UIC code on the tender. They said it'd be out for the Portrush flyer - and look what happened!

  3. Such a beautifully weathered loco, and a brilliant tutorial on how you did it, thanks Just one question, when you have finished weathering the model, do you protect the weathering powders with some sort of varnish, or do you just leave them on, without varnish? Thanks again for showing us, please post up any more pics of your fantastic work.
  4. Just received a new 7 1/4 gauge, Bridget locomotive, what a beauty it is, any part of this forum to show our model live steam locos?

Thanks didn't see it, will start a thread in there.

  5. That's exactly how I plan out a layout, by laying down track and seeing what fits.
  6. Assuming you mean the electrical connection between the scenic part and the fiddleyard, this was done with a electrical socket, I can't explain it, but if you can wait until the 24th August, I will take a photo while we are at the exhibition.
  7. Hi mark, The station building is a Bachmann station and based on goathland, and Is only available from TMC the engine shed is also from them. Here is a link, it is very expensive, but I think we agree it looks the part. And is very well detailed. http://www.themodelcentre.co.uk/44-012z/022y/prod_15.html Thanks for the comment.
  8. Hello, these are some of my dads scratch built buildings, they are exact replicas of Evenwood station in the North East. Evenwood signal box, note the unusual roof. The other side. The signal box interior, still needs a signal man Another view showing the levers Now the station waiting room, the platform will align with the doors. The inside of the main waiting room. Another view with the fire place. The steps to the platform with a outhouse and coal bunker. Another view with the enamel signs. Please click on the photo for better quality. That's all we have done so far, all of these are 4mm oo gauge and are built with metcalfe brick card. All of the buildings on this thread are of a very high standard, so hopefully this will meet the standard. Thanks
  9. Hi guys, here is a lunch time update. Over the next few weeks I will be posting photos of the type of rolling stock we use on our layout. First off are a couple of wagons that I have weathered, And a coach I recently weathered. "Just for laughs" don't worry we don't run Hush Hush on our layout, it was just to test the motor. We are currently stuck with a problem, and that is that our layout hasn't got a name as such, so I want to see if any of you can think of a name for our layout. Sorry about the poor quality of the photos, must invest in a proper camera. Any comments or opinions would be great and helpful.
  10. Just a couple more photos, any colour disorder is thanks to the iPads camera. The grass is garden hanging basket liner which is very effective. An L1 approaches the station while a steam roller crosses the bridge, the back scene is actually plain light blue. Behind the engine shed. The new "please do not touch" sign to keep those sticky fingers at bay. With thanks to John Pollock for making the sign. The end of the line. Will get more photos of rolling stock and the layout when we are at our next exhibition.
  11. Hello everyone, Here is a birthday update, yes it's my birthday and yes I'm now 15. Yay! Now on with the layout, we brought out the layout today to check everything was fine and ready for our next exhibition on 24th August. The points are operated via the "wire in the tube" method, This method is very simple and reliable. Next are just a couple of photos from today, An ivatt waits at the station with a working train. A photo of the overall layout measuring 10ft x 2 1/2ft Another view of the layout, don't worry about the sign we have got a new one. A Hornby L1 waits on she'd for the next working. An LNER a5 waits for passengers to board, the coaches are Hornby's suburban ones, and look brilliant. Another view. Any comments or opinions would be great, That's it for now until next time, bye.
  12. Ok, after a couple of days of hot weather, it is always followed by a week of heavy rain, thunder and lighting.

  14. Read what the listing says, haha, Our mission is to be a 5 star professional e bay business. Please study the photographs carefully as they aid in the description of the item for sale. I don't think you can study the photos carefully if it isn't even the right engine.
  15. Superb collection of locos and rolling stock, plenty of variety. Well done guys keep up the good work.
  16. Brilliant layout, an inspiration to us all.
  17. Thanks We have plans to extend the layout, but they are still on the drawing board. I'm currently scratch building an LMS brake van, but after that then it's back with the layout.
  18. Hi doug The engine shed and the station is from TMC and they are detailed very nicely. I will promise to post up more photos, but with the weather being 25 degrees hot it will have to wait. Thanks for all the comments.
  19. Hi Mark Well done for spotting it, but it doesn't belong to us. Our first exhibition was inside 1 of the 4 halls inside a church, and the hall that we were in belonged to the BB for there use and just had the anchor on the wall. Thanks Nelson
  20. Hello I have always wanted an oo gauge exhibition layout, with 3 layouts at home that weren't portable. So when we were shopping around in Ikea in Belfast me, my brother and my dad made the decision and bought some 50p chipboard wood, and the layout began. It was only 5 weeks until the exhibition so we were racing against time. The layout wasn't going to based on anywhere in particular, but as a general area in the North East of England. We got the layout finished on time, and our first exhibition went brilliant without any major faults. I helped out with the ballast, and seeing I'm only 14 years old, it's not bad. I'm sorry for the non NE loco, but I will promise the next photos will have proper north eastern locos I'm sorry I haven't got any photos of the full layout, but I will get some more photos soon. What are your opinions of the layout. Bye for now.
