  1. We missed out on the Hornby great gathering aswell. I have successfully removed LMS letters and numbers, by using Tcut and a Cotten bud, or a cocktail stick (for smaller areas) on a Hornby 2p loco, it worked very well and did not affect the paint underneath but It did leave a gloss shine where the Tcut was applied (but the gloss shine is good for applying transfers to). Hope this helps, but I would recommend that you test it first (I don't want to be held responsible if anything goes wrong) I'll do a youtube vid soon about it.
  2. Your welcome, I think if you were to make an NRM diorama with the turntable and all the A4s around it, just like the great gathering, that would be a brilliant sight to see in OO gauge.
  3. I really like the loco, the high gloss shine looks brilliant with the light reflecting off it, she looks exactly like the A4s currently in the NRM. Well done. One question, if you don't mind, what varnish did you use? And how did you apply it? Ps: just my opinion, I would be tempted to add real coal to the tender, that would finish it off beautifully.
  4. Has been out all day, doing military re-enactment, and now my feet are killing me.

  5. There are loads to choose from, and I wouldn't know where to start, so here's a few to get you thinking. http://www.ehattons.com/31831/Peco_Products_LK_35_Yard_Crane_lineside_kit/StockDetail.aspx http://www.ehattons.com/40389/Wills_Kits_SS51_Goods_yard_crane_with_fixed_timber_jib/StockDetail.aspx http://www.ehattons.com/40627/Ratio_531_Yard_Crane/StockDetail.aspx http://www.ehattons.com/52740/Bachmann_Branchline_44_146_Highley_Station_Yard_Crane/StockDetail.aspx Hope this helps, it all depends on which type of crane you want and how much you want to pay for it. Maybe fellow RMwebers could help you more than I can.

I am thinking about changing the layout a small bit, to fit onto a shelf, still don't know yet.

  8. Wow, it looks really well. Dad pre ordered one last year, can't wait to receive it.
  9. Hornby's free track plan looks really good, just the right size as well.

  10. Brilliant, really looking well you must be proud of it, you've just reminded me of homework that I have yet to do, LOL What are you planning to use for the grass?
  11. Had a brilliant day driving our 7 1/4 gauge Bridget, despite the few teething problems, such as the safety valve not reducing steam quick enough. Shouldn't be too hard to fix.

  12. I would love to have a go at the Sealink livery (I've found the transfers and all for it) but I don't know, it would really stand out and look great. Do you have any idea for the colours of paint I need, for this livery?
  13. Finally the weekend is here, now I can get more modelling done.

  14. Hi, Thanks for the comment, please go ahead and post the link to the jig, it would be very interesting, and would make life easier.
  15. Welcome to my workbench thread, thanks for looking. This is where all my magic happens, I main interests are as you can see are the North East Railway, Northern Counties Railway and Ulster Transport Authority (the last two are Northern Ireland based) and I also like the look of LMS engines as well, so you can say that I have a very! Wide range of interests. I am no expert in any way, so I would like if people could point out anything that I am doing very wrong, so that I could learn from my mistakes. Thanks Nelson.
  16. It does look really good, I like it, I will hopefully be getting a couple of coaches to repaint, following your excellent guide soon.
  17. Thanks, I have seen all the vids I just wanted to hear what it was like from a modeller who used the wash to weather a coach. Thanks
  18. What do you think of the new humbrol black wash, I was going to buy some but I didn't know what they are like, Any good?
  19. Stop going on about HS2 it's doing my head in, why don't we spend the money making the railway we currently have more better.

  20. Brilliant update, the layout is really coming along well.
  21. I bet you can't wait, all I can say is take your time and everything will go to plan.
  22. Thanks for your kind words castle, I was looking at rivet transfers some time ago but I didn't find a UK supplier, do you know any supplier in the UK? "We will have you soldering etched brass kits before you know it" Funny enough I was looking at one the other day, don't know if I should go for it. Thank you everyone who has commented I really appreciate it. Many thanks Should I change this thread to my workbench thread or start a new one?
  23. Hi thanks for the comment. I will admit and say that I skipped on a lot of detail such as handrails, rivets etc... That's why I have said that I would like to build another one, but this time it will be as perfect as I can get. Many thanks for being honest, I don't mind that at all. Thanks Nelson.
  24. Ah you know me too well, I will weather it, I weathered everything else but not the ends, don't know why, must get around to doing them later.
