  1. G'Day Folks My all time favorite picture that I have taken. Is a loco being steam cleaned at Peterborough steam shed (South Australia) in 1969. Garratt No 400, with another class member to the right and a T class 4-8-0 in the background. manna
  2. G'Day Folks Vast difference, just one coat of black paint. manna
  3. G'Day Folks I was lucky in living in South Australia in the 1960's, steam was still working, the narrow gauge line from Port Pirie to Broken Hill (about 400k's) was mostly steam worked by 4-8-2+2-8-4 Garratts which I managed to photograph over a couple of years, these 400 class locos, were built in Belgium. manna
  4. G'Day Folks Hey, if you want a laugh, this is my rendition of a J17, made out of a Tri-Ang 3f, a B12 cab and tender, with bits from a King and Thomas. manna
  5. G'Day Folks A V2 and the V1/3 for me. manna
  6. G'Day Folks Got to pick the Clacton units, for best EMU's, but the REP's have got to be a very close second, both unit's had great acceleration and top speed. manna
  7. G'Day Folks Nothing wrong in running a vintage train, I run from 1920 to 1970. I even have a GNR Ivatt single. manna
  8. G'Day Folks Lovely selection of ECML power. manna
  9. G'Day Folks I'm going to pick a loco that disappeared in the mid 30's, 20+years before Gilberts masterpiece, A Q1/Q2. manna PS. Since I took this pic, I've fitted a new chimney and boiler bands.
  10. G'Day Folks As a model, I like the Thompson L1, but as a full sized loco, well the less said the better. The BR 4MT is a pretty good balanced design, which gets my vote. manna
  11. G'Day Gents Gresley's A1/3, for the Tank version an A6 manna
  12. G'Day Folks Gilbert, thanks for reminding us that the best 4-6-0 in the country is a V2...........................................After Gresley had played with it. manna
  13. G'Day Folks B17, followed very closely by Robinsons B1. manna
  14. G'Day Folks I prefer the N1 as well. manna
  15. G'Day Folks Thanks for the information about the paints, but 'Apple Green' eludes me, I can get the Acrylic one from Humbrol, but not a 'oil' based one........ manna
  16. G'Day Folks 520 class, 4-8-4, 526 at Aldgate, South Australia 1969.
  17. G'Day Folks O2, with the GN cab, but the Gresley O1 is only half inch behind. manna
  18. G'Day Folks With all these 'older' coaches taking to the tracks, do I see a LNER layout taking shape ??????? manna
  19. G'Day Folks I like both GN loco's, but I suppose the C1 has to take the honours, but I've always thought the C2 is the more elegant. manna manna
  20. G'Day Folks Season, Season, are we having roast beef or is it Bl00dy Christmas all ready.....................! Shame about Little Richard, not a bad innings though. manna
