  1. Graham's Golden Lager appears to have been brewed in Alloa and Burton? So was there regular tank traffic between the two and other parts of the Aliied Breweries empire? It became Skol in 1959.
  2. Purchased the latest BR issue from Derails. It is marked "Honeybourne RU" with further panels showing the van to work between Honeybourne and Cheltenham St. James and return. Superb model but the panels will have to go. Hornby appear to like to get away from run of the mill markings. One of their GWR shunters truck is marked South Lambeth and would therefore be restricted to the goods depot close to Battersea Park. Malcolm
  3. According to "Vanished Railways of West Lothian" this is a double line snowplough designed to deflect the snow way from the tracks. Great book by Harry Knox for Lightmoor Press including many photos of J36 class locos. There are several of "Maude" in BR days without the name painted on the splasher.
  4. BR Database has some details of allocations and dates of withdrawal. Hope this helps. Malcolm

It's a shorter list these days of what's NOT made in the PRC, I'm afraid...

2x Panasonic handset and base station setup with answerphone still going strong here after eight years . . . and still has original re-chargeabkle batteries in the handsets.

  14. Agreed, the book is superb. The photos of Tewkesbury shed provide inspiration for a project. Hopefully the Bachmann 1P will appear in 2018.
  15. This layout is in the December Continental Modeller and was shown on Saturday at the Letchworh MRC Exhibition in Arlesey. As I was visiting Hitchin this weekend, I managed to get some free time to visit the exhibition. Klaus is an exceptional layout depicting the meeting of OBB standard gauge and 760mm and is based on a real location. Thoroughly enjoyed my time watching the layout. Superb modelling overall.
  16. Purchased mine from Martins the newsagents in Lydney today.
  17. I also visited the exhibition today. It's one of my favourites. As has been said before, a great selection of layouts. The stock on Allt-y-Graban Road was excellent with some of the best weathering I have seen. Good slow speed running. A very friendly show with operators and demonstrators taking time to explain things to young and old. If you are in the area tomorrow visit the exhibition. Well recommended.
  18. There are a series of colour photos of Evesham LMS station in the just released Lightmoor Press Railways of Gloucestershire Volume 3 Midland lines Gloucestershire North. These may of interest.
  19. Lightmoor Press have announced the book is in their warehouse. So expect this volume to be with your favourite bookseller soon.
  20. I have found my copy of Railway Bylines December- January 1996/7 which has a detailed article on the P class. The article gives allocations but I was interested to discover 31027 was loaned to Betteshanger Colliery in February 1956 and also to Chislet Colliery in May 1959 while 31323 was loaned to Betteshanger in February 1952 and to Snowden Colliery in August 1953. Surely a bit under powered for such work. It also states 31178 worked at Bowaters on several occasions prior to being purchased by the Company. There is a mention it operated passenger services within the complex. I thought these were on the narrow gauge only. If this is correct, does anyone know what the coaches were? I may have to order one of the BR versions to keep the Peckett and Barclay tanks company on my future industrial layout.
  21. Neil Parkhouse of Lightmoor Press has confirmed the publication of this book is imminent. The books are on their way from Poland and should arrive later this week. The volume covers Defford to Gloucester Eastgate: Barnwood Shed: Ashchurch to Evesham and Ashchurch to Upton On Severn. Originally there was to be one volume, but he has acquired slides postcards and photo collections so much so this volume covers Eastgate Street and Barnwood Shed in great detail as well as many pages on the Evesham line. Awaiting publication so I can pick up a copy from the Dean Forest Railway Shop. Malcolm
  22. 501 was the last of the class in service and was being kept for the National Collection. Sadly it was involved in a fatal collision in 1971 by Contumil depot and written off. The day before we had a run down the Douro Valley from Regua to Porto behind 501 possibly its last working.. I did not know CP had joined the 1930s streamlining craze. Thanks for the photo.
  23. Dropped in to Derails today and pre ordered the named version. Excellent service as always.
  24. Apologies John, must have been another book. There have been several books on the industrial heritage of the Swansea Valley.
