  1. There is a 2mm model of Tintern Station in one of the coaches on site.
  2. Kato are now offering staff with passengers for the Glacier Express coaches. See Hobby Search Japan www.1999.co.jp/eng.
  3. Just checked my order and noted it will be 4 years in April since the orders were first placed. Patience is a virtue.
  4. I think Naas House is being renovated by a local builder after years of neglect.
  5. I noticed this as well and would agree it is an error. I have not seen any earlier references to any of the class being painted green. Bearing in mind their short lives and use mainly on goods workings, then it is highly unlikely. Perhaps a polite enquiry to the author may reveal his source on this matter.
  6. I have pre-ordered 5809 and 1474 from Hattons: The EPs look superb:
  7. Good news. Will be buying a 16xx at least. I had one of the Cotswold kits years ago but had to be sold unmade when there were other demands on the finances.
  8. Youngest grandchild wants a "green choo choo" from Father Christmas. She's 2 1/2. Any ideas?

we've bought a Duplo train for our 18 months old by Christmas grand daughter but its 3 boxes on wheels linked together so probably too young for yours. Ikea do some wooden trains on wooden tracks, worth looking at, even if for la.ter

  15. Could someone confirm the Nine Ems allocation worked local freights to Wimbledon Raynes Park Hampton Court etc? Did they venture towards West Croydon on the Wimbledon to WC Line? The O2 allocation at Feltham and the solo one at Nine Elms is intriguing given their haulage capacity. Any ideas as to where they worked. Thanks
  16. 14XX/58XX were more limited in haulage than the 64XX/4575 so if the capacity is similar to the O2 then 2 auto trailers will be fine. Freight haulage as on the Kington branch will be within the capabilities of the model. The 58xx hauled two coaches with ease on the Barmouth to Dolgellau locals. Their last workings on the WR were hauling two auto trailers from Gloucester to Stroud. Later workings as on the Seaton branch never exceeded two trailers. If the model follows the geared driven route then the haulage capacity will be similar to the O2. Looking forward to these releases next year.
  17. It's frightening when the coach is nearly the same price as the loco 64XX OK it will be cheaper than the Hattons DJM 14xx.
  18. Picked my copy up today from the Dean Forest Shop: Again a Christmas present but a sneak preview revealed it to be an excellent volume with some rare photos. Just need a 16XX to top the wish list in the Poll. Highly recommended
  19. Having seen your superb Hounslow Sidings, I am looking forward to see this MPD develop, plus it's Southern.
  20. Hi Chris, I thought VIA are using RDCs between Jasper and Prince Rupert. So is this the next service to go?
  21. Three 4-4-0s were on the Norton to Chipman branch in New Brunswick until 1959, CPR no. 29 136 and 144. This was because of a weak or several weak bridges. There was an article in the Trains of the 1950s which reprinted several articles of steam chasing in Canada by David Morgan and his co author whose name I have forgotten. So there is scope to produce these three veterans but they appear to be the Canadian equivalent of the Adams Radial of Beattie Well Tank.
  22. Thanks for the link. I did not know the extent of the fish traffic on the Southern. Very interesting. I think that solves the mystery.
  23. Further to my post re the J50/4 at Victoria, I have had another look at the photo. The loco is coupled to a BR 20T Brake Van and 2 Blue Spot style Fish vans with the brake van between the loco and the vans. The loco is bunker first towards the concourse end of the eastern side of Victoria Station. Any ideas as to the working? Billingsgate traffic would have been transported by road from Kings+.
