Are we more interested in the making than the "playing"? The answer to the question is a resounding yes for me, the enjoyment / hobby is in the building , weathering , research ect... When the layouts are at home they have never been used but I am always trying to improve my standards and level of detail ...as for Crossley scrapyard it has only been to one show this year , it has had three invites and is due to be published in Hornby magazine soon -

The Thunderbirds' radio code "F-A-B", meaning "message received and understood", didn't stand for anything, it was just supposed to sound "hip". In fact, when asked what it stood for, Gerry Anderson once replied, with some bemusement, "Fab," as though it were obvious. -

The barrels are made from the two nylon rollers found in an old music cassette tape , the chain is handmade from the inner copper cable from TV coax cable -

Handmade oil drums , these are made from old cassette tapes , inside there are two nylon rollers , these are glued together , a disc of plasticard is super glued on and sanded to shape , again rust weathered , the fuel stains are by AK interactive Also a better picture of the chain -

Some rusty ships anchor chain, handmade from the inner core of some old coax TV cable , wound a long length around a small flat file , cut down the length of the windings , then linked them together, painted with various shades of rust paints , and some real rust powder brushed on , also you can use the thinner fine copper outer core of the coax .... Scrunch it into a ball shape and you can use it to clean your soldering iron ! -

I was a member , done many of their trips , the chairman was a Simon Guppy , I have somewhere 1 or 2 tatty trip report brochures , remember doing IIRC a 4/5 day grand tour of Scotland and north east , highlight was drinking too much at on overnight stay ( possibly in Darlington) and being very ill the next day . In the trip report it stated people who had cleared a class of loco , my name was mentioned as Barrie who cleared his stomach, other names I seem to remember were John Virgin who had one false arm , Jeff Trebey , Andy Down ( Cardiff), Ian Hall ( Bristol) , Mike Edge (Caerphilly) , Royston IIRC from Westbury I will see what else I can find / remember !

Terry the T*^t was actually a good shop once you took Terry out of the equation; he was a miserable sod who seemed constantly resentful that he was not becoming a millionaire off our backs. But one could get most things there, and he stocked Smith's scale couplings, the only place in Cardiff at the time that did. I used to buy my Smith's couplings there , but when I bought a couple of packets from there many years ago , Terry wasn't there, but he had someone else minding the shop , I gave the said stand in shopkeeper iirc probably a £10 note for my goods , the bloke put them in a bag , and handed me probably something like £17 in change , I left the shop rather quick !
