  1. There were two KUA , MODA 95770 / 771 , so the model is of an IQA French version 33.87.9985.008 and 009 ? , although there were iirc two ? German versions also will need to find the issues of rail express which had details of all the flask wagons . Also seem to recall that the French versions were never really used and stood idle for a long time at Crewe ? Myself I think doing the KUA would have been a wiser choice . The link to the pic shows what I assume we're the German version as the pic is dated 1994
  2. Depending on the type of cradles you require , a BBA with 6 cradles that were used to carry both slab and coil would require these cradles http://www.stensonmodels.co.uk/product/cradles-small-cc15d/ There were 33 BBA with this type of cradle Or if doing a BWA with 5 cradles you would need these http://www.stensonmodels.co.uk/product/cradles-large-cc14d/ There were 13 BWA wagons If you are doing a BLA you need these https://www.hamodels.net/set-of-coil-cradles-for-bca/bla.html Although Cavalex models will be releasing these soon Alternatively you could use some cradles off the Bachmann baa wagon , hope this helps
  3. You can use some elastic strip the stuff covered in nylon , easiest way to remove the nylon is with some sandpaper gently rubbed over the outside then you will have individual strands of elastic inside , hope that makes sense . Look in your wife's sewing basket !
  4. As our crossley scrap layout was built for our modelling enjoyment, but it also falls into the category of being exhibited for the enjoyment of the paying public at shows , the techneques used in the scenery and of the likes of the scrap bales etc... or how to paint convincing concrete are often asked about and expained by us , or sometimes i will do a demonstration showing the public how to do it or the can try for themselves thus learning new skills . Whilst I could blow my own trumpet and glorify my own efforts , I don't , people will comment and like for what they see . Nearly all the shows we have done so far (about 6 - 7 ) we do not get paid for fuel , food etc.. so without the likes of our efforts there would not be an exhibition for the public to see , a lot of time goes into preparation days before , plus doing a two day show is tiring . Without shows to go to the layout would sit on its trestles covered in a cloth gathering dust !
  5. As mentioned in the above posts , making a layout different to stand out will get you noticed with more booking likely to come your way . With the first showing of our Crossley scrap layout at the small cardiff show two years ago, we had further invites , a recommendation to Hornby magazine for a photo session with an article published this year and a invite the Great Electric show this October followed by Railex Taunton ! So far we have had invites from every show in the last two years of exhibiting.
  6. On our layouts , we used some thin ply as an edge , about 10 mm higher than the baseboard , this protects the scenery and looks neater
  7. hello all ,hope someone out there can help us please , my son having bought a Bachmann class 47 , now wants to put a Hornby tts sound chip in , so having purchased a sound chip which is 8 pin this now needed a 21 pin to 8 pin adapter , so then sent off for one of these , all we had to do was plug the 8 pin into the adapter and plug the 21 pin onto the loco pcb board , that is all fine , tested the loco out and all works fine , now to the problem , when the body is put back on the top of the tts 8 pin is to high so the body will not go back on , ok its only a few mm but enough , so what are the options , would buying this type of 21 pin socket then soldering the 8 wires from the tts decoder to pins 1 to 8 marked up work , i live in hope regards Baz
  8. Thank you for posting the link , only found out about it tonight ... need to fully finish it off one day mind you .... enjoy
  9. probably the easiest option to build rakes of the BSC ore wagons is to have a two pack of outers and a five pack of inners , makes sense to me , that way there is no duplication of having too many outers in a rake ... just a thought
