  1. Blimey, Dave, that first b & w shot in post 2916 looked terribly convincing, I had to look twice as it looked like the 1:1 scale. Lovely work.
  2. I know we are very early in the process but would there be plans to offer a bulk buying option for the carflats, and therefore at a different price per unit? My intention is to use Etched Pixels Newton Chambers TCVs for Motorail services, but I can see me looking for a rake of about ten of the carflats for a manufacturers transfer train. In fact I could easily add another six to alternate with the TCV rake. Also, is this going to be an NGS model that is going to have only limited availability or will it be produced in batches as an ongoing stock item?

  5. Great progress, thanks for the continued sharing of information. I always wondered why Olympia had that very long platform and yet the other was quite short. Was it always thus? Perhaps due to the motorail facility being on that particular side? or is the short platform a recent adjustment?
  6. What a delightful and well made little layout! Thank you for sharing. Can you tell me what track you have used? Apologies if you have covered this somewhere in the text but I couldn't find it......
  7. James. I'm a wee bit confused. Is this supposed to be the end of the line, as it is now? or is this a yard between Kittybrewster and the yard at the harbour? Either way, great and inspirational modelling. Nice commentary too.
  8. Tom, I realise I'll probably come across quite thick here.......when you say you've attached the rails to the plastic, I'm assuming you mean you have de-slepeered the track. Any particular method you have used to ensure it stays in gauge, that being the case? Many thanks Scott
  9. Hello, The staiths next to the track were actually the exception rather than the rule. In most cases, the coal was unloaded into wating bags or waiting lorries/wagons and then any left over from that operation would be manhandled into the staiths for storage. This allowed the wagons to get back onto the network as quick as possible. Apologies if I am teaching grannies how to suck eggs.......
  10. Yes, these look fantastic. I wonder if it would be possible to modify them after purchase to have real chains? Does such a suitably small chain even exist? Thinking out loud........... I have six on order plus a Shark. Looking forward to seeing the decorated samples.
  11. Pete, Apologies if I am being thick, but you mention using the rolling road for wheel cleaning. Ca you describe how you go about that. I have one (in N gauge) but never thought about it for cleaning wheels........... Excellent updates, thanks for sharing. Really inspirational. Scott
  12. Dave, What is the story with the N Gauge wagons at present? Are they like the Class 17 et al where you said you would only be making sufficient numbers to cover pre-orders/expressions of interest? If so can we pre-order now? Thanks Scott
  13. Anthony, you continue to inspire us with your work and dedication. This is an epic project. Well done and keep up the good work. You're an inspiration to us all, and us N-gaugers in particular
  14. Out of curiosity, the uptake was 120 after 3 days, where are we after 14? Is there a distinct split between 21 and 29? I have pledged for four 21s.
  15. Pete I'm really liking this layout, and in particular the thread. It is very imformative, thanks for sharing and illustrating how you are doing things. My in-progress N gauge layout follows a very similar track plan, as far as the station layout goes, and I particularly like your idea of cut down canopy girders. I was trying to think of a solution to that problem of not seeing the trains where a canopy would naturally have been. I hope you don't mind if I copy/adapt your idea! I also like the idea of a tall retaining wall, with an overcast backscene. I shall be following this with great interest. Thank you again, and great modelling.
  16. At the current price of £50 each, perhaps you'd be able to get them resprayed professionally, probably even weathered into the deal, and still come out no worse off than the cost of the actual retail price of a Diesel or Electric locomotive? (circa £100)
  17. Ben, I still can't find any evidence at all that these engines ever worked over the Highland Main Line between Perth and Inverness. I suppose it would be churlish to say that one NEVER passed over these rails, but I don't think they did on any scheduled services...... Happy to be proved wrong. And you may want to include the GSWR route from Glasgow to Carlisle (i.e. via Dumfries), as they found work on freight to Carlisle along there.
  18. The first Scottish machine, D6138 went to Edinburgh St. Margarets in February 1960, Kittybrewster examples following shortly after. Between April and September 1960, the original 'pilot' examples, previously working in England, were transferred to Glasgow Eastfield Depot (followed by all subsequent production machines). After various repairs and 'improvements', crew training between Glasgow BS and Dundee had commenced by January 1961, the engines running in pairs. The short answer, is spring 1960, with Kittybrewster employing them on GNoSR lines. Hope that helps.
  19. This looks fantastoic, thanks for sharing the build. Could we possibly see the fiddle yeard (i presume trhere is one on the otehr side of the backscene?
  20. Looking great! Could we see a track plan at all?
  21. I've just come across this layout. What a lovely little piece of modelling :-)
  22. What a lovely little layout! It look so spacious and well thought out. Thank you for sharing! Would it be possible to have a wide shot of the whole layout please? If space allows of course..... I'm possibly being thick, but where is your fiddle/storage yard? Would we be able to see behind the scenes?
  23. Next branch up from Blairgowrie, Alyth. 24. Hi Ben, Would it be possible for you to post some photos of the scanning process when it is carried out? Could be quite interesting to see what's involved......
