  1. Pete, Apologies if I am being thick, but you mention using the rolling road for wheel cleaning. Ca you describe how you go about that. I have one (in N gauge) but never thought about it for cleaning wheels........... Excellent updates, thanks for sharing. Really inspirational. Scott
  2. Dave, What is the story with the N Gauge wagons at present? Are they like the Class 17 et al where you said you would only be making sufficient numbers to cover pre-orders/expressions of interest? If so can we pre-order now? Thanks Scott
  3. Anthony, you continue to inspire us with your work and dedication. This is an epic project. Well done and keep up the good work. You're an inspiration to us all, and us N-gaugers in particular
  4. Out of curiosity, the uptake was 120 after 3 days, where are we after 14? Is there a distinct split between 21 and 29? I have pledged for four 21s.
  5. Pete I'm really liking this layout, and in particular the thread. It is very imformative, thanks for sharing and illustrating how you are doing things. My in-progress N gauge layout follows a very similar track plan, as far as the station layout goes, and I particularly like your idea of cut down canopy girders. I was trying to think of a solution to that problem of not seeing the trains where a canopy would naturally have been. I hope you don't mind if I copy/adapt your idea! I also like the idea of a tall retaining wall, with an overcast backscene. I shall be following this with great interest. Thank you again, and great modelling.
  6. At the current price of £50 each, perhaps you'd be able to get them resprayed professionally, probably even weathered into the deal, and still come out no worse off than the cost of the actual retail price of a Diesel or Electric locomotive? (circa £100)
  7. Ben, I still can't find any evidence at all that these engines ever worked over the Highland Main Line between Perth and Inverness. I suppose it would be churlish to say that one NEVER passed over these rails, but I don't think they did on any scheduled services...... Happy to be proved wrong. And you may want to include the GSWR route from Glasgow to Carlisle (i.e. via Dumfries), as they found work on freight to Carlisle along there.
  8. The first Scottish machine, D6138 went to Edinburgh St. Margarets in February 1960, Kittybrewster examples following shortly after. Between April and September 1960, the original 'pilot' examples, previously working in England, were transferred to Glasgow Eastfield Depot (followed by all subsequent production machines). After various repairs and 'improvements', crew training between Glasgow BS and Dundee had commenced by January 1961, the engines running in pairs. The short answer, is spring 1960, with Kittybrewster employing them on GNoSR lines. Hope that helps.
  9. This looks fantastoic, thanks for sharing the build. Could we possibly see the fiddle yeard (i presume trhere is one on the otehr side of the backscene?
  10. Looking great! Could we see a track plan at all?
  11. I've just come across this layout. What a lovely little piece of modelling :-)
  12. What a lovely little layout! It look so spacious and well thought out. Thank you for sharing! Would it be possible to have a wide shot of the whole layout please? If space allows of course..... I'm possibly being thick, but where is your fiddle/storage yard? Would we be able to see behind the scenes?
  13. Next branch up from Blairgowrie, Alyth. A very old image of Alyth Station... http://api.ning.com/files/ruYO5xFDZr9DvlYDbFfyetFbSkk4cGagKz019NgS4e0HCQpiqnO9WHx*4rmI4X-KbBBfnaHpnzRy8Aya8JHuefDNS02Xh7K6/TrainStation.jpg http://www.railbrit.co.uk/imageenlarge/imagecomplete.php?id=7016 and a bit more recently: http://www.quazoo.com/q/Alyth_railway_station
  14. Hi Ben, Would it be possible for you to post some photos of the scanning process when it is carried out? Could be quite interesting to see what's involved......
  15. A couple of images of Blairgowrie http://s0.geograph.org.uk/geophotos/01/82/84/1828496_69660283.jpg Quite a substantial station building for a branch line terminous? http://www.blairgowrieandrattray.org.uk/BlairgowrieStation.jpg http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/a1/0b/a0/a10ba07d1b7ff6e35c6c973fd71dcd4b.jpg
  16. Thanks Ben, as good a reply as any. I'm still hoping for a kickstarter success.
  17. Ben/Mike Hopefully the kickstarter succeeds, it's at 87% with 4 hours to go. If it doesn't, and plan B kicks in, would the original kickstarter pledgers still end up with exclusively numbered modellers, different from the ones that the post kickstarter pledgers get? If it's possible, I would suggest that they should, to maintain some sort of exclusivity as a reward for the original backers.... Your thoughts?
  18. Hi Mike (and Ben) I appreciate you guys are still ironing out the details, but maybe for some clarity.....: Once the kickstarter closes at 2200 on the 18th, will there be a deadline that new customers at the full price will have to order by? If this is the case, will Rapido still only be producing enough sets to satisfy the kickstarter orders and the full price orders in total, and still committing to not making anymore for at least two years? Or will the model now become a standard freely available model? Many congratulations on bringing your project to market! Scotty
  19. A view taken in 1984, looking west towards Alyth Junction......2 years after the line completely closed. This has all been leveled now and I think it is lsated for housing after lying empty for many many years. https://www.flickr.com/photos/taysider64/15044351021/ And the yard in 1982. Is that a Mk1 CCT ? https://www.flickr.com/photos/taysider64/14945200969/
  20. It's not a case of the manufacturer coming to us saying give us your cash or no model. It's Mike and Ben going to the manufacturer and saying, no-one wants to build this, if we fund the R&D will you make it for us? Theres no excess stock because by its very nature, supply equals demand. Or have I got it all wrong?.....
