  1. Sounds like a huge undertaking. Thanks for posting your thoughts and ideas. I thought my 17.5ft by 9ft garage project was big, with 60 turnouts, but yours is another level entirely. Please do keep us appraised of progress as I shall be following your thread with much interest. Looking forward to seeing your trackplan.
  2. Try this: http://maps.nls.uk/view/82887405 and this: http://maps.nls.uk/view/82887405 I am assuming that dalfraber was a typo?: Dalfaber
  3. I wonder if this would help? 25 inch OS maps, albeit from 1901, but it may help combined with other sources? http://maps.nls.uk/view/82887444
  4. wow! Just wow! That looks fantastic. I am very impressed with the scale of the cooling towers and other structures. Keep up the good work and keep sharing your progress please.
  5. I have just found this thread. What an outstanding layout. Some lovely "railway in the landscape" on the right hand side of the layout. Well thought out and executed. Thanks for sharing and good luck with future improvements.
  6. Thank you. Now that you have said that I see that the original text says exactly that. Thanks again.
  7. I'm finding this whole discussion very interesting, but I am having trouble following this highlighted section. I realise I am probably being a bit thick, but what does this mean? Is it the train engine that is hauling the ECS to the carriage sidings, with the Pilot providing initial banking, as per the previous sentence for a service departure?...... Apologies........
  8. This will no doubt interest some on this thread....?# http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?m=1101318906379&ca=8ff4e781-15b9-4202-a07e-ea1976431a09#class92
  9. What colours did you use for that livery please ?
  10. What were those errors, just as a matter of interest?
  11. I've never heard of N'Gauge in Steam. Who are they? Who will actually be producing the model? I could be interested in one of these. Any idea on what sub-type(s) will be produced/proposed?
  12. Outstanding layout. Would it be possible to see a trackplan? and also what are the dimensions of the layout please? Keep up the good work!
  13. Blimey, Dave, that first b & w shot in post 2916 looked terribly convincing, I had to look twice as it looked like the 1:1 scale. Lovely work.
  14. I know we are very early in the process but would there be plans to offer a bulk buying option for the carflats, and therefore at a different price per unit? My intention is to use Etched Pixels Newton Chambers TCVs for Motorail services, but I can see me looking for a rake of about ten of the carflats for a manufacturers transfer train. In fact I could easily add another six to alternate with the TCV rake. Also, is this going to be an NGS model that is going to have only limited availability or will it be produced in batches as an ongoing stock item?

  17. Great progress, thanks for the continued sharing of information. I always wondered why Olympia had that very long platform and yet the other was quite short. Was it always thus? Perhaps due to the motorail facility being on that particular side? or is the short platform a recent adjustment?
  18. What a delightful and well made little layout! Thank you for sharing. Can you tell me what track you have used? Apologies if you have covered this somewhere in the text but I couldn't find it......
  19. James. I'm a wee bit confused. Is this supposed to be the end of the line, as it is now? or is this a yard between Kittybrewster and the yard at the harbour? Either way, great and inspirational modelling. Nice commentary too.
  20. Tom, I realise I'll probably come across quite thick here.......when you say you've attached the rails to the plastic, I'm assuming you mean you have de-slepeered the track. Any particular method you have used to ensure it stays in gauge, that being the case? Many thanks Scott
  21. Hello, The staiths next to the track were actually the exception rather than the rule. In most cases, the coal was unloaded into wating bags or waiting lorries/wagons and then any left over from that operation would be manhandled into the staiths for storage. This allowed the wagons to get back onto the network as quick as possible. Apologies if I am teaching grannies how to suck eggs.......
  22. Yes, these look fantastic. I wonder if it would be possible to modify them after purchase to have real chains? Does such a suitably small chain even exist? Thinking out loud........... I have six on order plus a Shark. Looking forward to seeing the decorated samples.
  23. Pete, Apologies if I am being thick, but you mention using the rolling road for wheel cleaning. Ca you describe how you go about that. I have one (in N gauge) but never thought about it for cleaning wheels........... Excellent updates, thanks for sharing. Really inspirational. Scott
