  1. Are the different 16t 4 packs on the site now? They are showing as £39.50 per pack rather than sub £35... it is entirely possible I am missing something....
  2. Lovely. Thanks for the explanations, Anthony. The viaduct will certainly look, rightfully, imposing. I'm sure I'm not alone in waiting eagerly for its cosmetic completion in the months to come. No doubt you are looking forward just as eagerly, to the end of the next six months. Thanks, as always for the updates.
  3. Very clever use of the hole cutter. I never thought of that, and I may use that myself! How did you cut the channel for the track deck? Router?
  4. Blimey, happy days if you're in the market for Class 350s, 4 car set with change from £90........
  5. Nice idea. At the risk of being labelled a "spelling fascist": * Rannoch Moor........
  6. This offers a nice comparison: http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/img/s9/v18/p1004460183-3.jpg A very nice rendition, I'd say. I think the only thing negative we could say is that the "Chains" are overscale, but other than that, just lovely. Looking forward to receiving my four, hopefully to be followed by two indian red examples and a Perth Shark.
  7. Yes, sadly it is missing. Can you complete it for us here, Andy?.......
  8. Yes, I agree, a lovely piece of writing, well thought out and balanced reasoning. Thanks for taking the time to jot down your thoughts. As an aside, I was at an exhibition in Solihull 3 or 4 years ago, at which there was an N gauge layout that proudly proclaimed, via a notice on the front of the layout, that trains were running to a real-time timetable. A riveting display, it was not.
  9. Hi Neil, The plan looks very good, and has more than a flavour of Aviemore, a station I am familiar with. The shed components look very good indeed and I look forward to seeing it assembled. Where has this come from please? I sit RTP or did you commision it's construction?
  10. Ben, These models continue to impress, I think we are all looking forward now to seeing them decorated with the name plates. That access ladder is exquisite, no other word for it. I think they may even exceed the TEAs in terms of visual effect. £20 for each of these is definitely money well spent. I have 21 on order, and a block train will look fantastic. It will almost be a shame to weather them! Thanks for the continued commentary. Hopefully the running and coupling tests will go well. Best Scott
  11. Ben, This looks outstanding. Perhaps a new benchmark in transition era, N rolling stock. Is that Brass buffers? I'm sure these will look exquisite in their liveries, particularly with the etched nameboards. Glad to see all the hard work has paid off. Best Scott
  12. My father delights in telling me stories of his Grandfather, whose duty location for a time was Hilton Junction, just south of Perth. Signalman's tea in the 40's, 50's and 60's apparently didn't use a kettle, the tea pot was placed on the stove and throughout the shift would receive repeat amounts of tea leaves, without removing the previously entered leaves, and replacement water as the progressively tar-like stew was consumed.... Grandad was later one of the first signalman to serve at the then new Perth Powerbox, where such activities were rather frowned upon.
  13. Who needs a house out in Hackensack Is that what you get with your money?

    1. MarkC

      MarkC

And it seems such a waste of time.

If that's what it's all about.

Mama, if that's movin' up then I'm movin' out

  14. All the best wishes for the survival of the layout...and of course your home!
  15. Ha! No you can keep the contents! Erm, maybe we should get back on topic.............
  16. If you sell me both of your kidneys, you could order a third King.....
  17. To help deal with a health problem or two, I find it very therapeutic (and enjoyable) to work on track plans within the Anyrail software (other track planning programs are available), primarily in N gauge. The most satisfying are real locations, with track plans derived from old maps. As a discussion promotion, I present, therefore, a code 55 rendition of the once proposed replacement for Queen Street High Level and Buchanan Street stations in Glasgow. http://www.hipkiss.org/data/maps/british-transport-commission_passenger-transport-in-glasgow-and-district_1951_proposed-new-north-station_5396_2481_300.jpg The reference map is hard to discern at times, so some licence has been taken with regard to some of the crossings and turnouts. Also there are limitations when working with RTP track. What I'm getting at is, I know it isn't 100% accurate, but its a start and since it was never built, who's to say what it would have looked like anyway? I've used the canal aquaduct as a scenic break, so everything to the right of that is "rest of the world" and doesn't have to be 100% plausible. As for who would build it? It's rather large (the canvas is 17.5ft by 9.5ft - the size of my garage) so perhaps a large club or group, similar to those who develop and exhibit Liverpool Lime street. Anyway, it's not a serious proposal, I just enjoyed drafting it with a view to promoting (constructive, and non-judgmental) discussion. Hopefully some of you will find it interesting.
  18. If it were I, I'd be inclined to glue the track to the foam. This would make it more secure. My adhesive of choice is copydex, however, I've never tried that on the foam so I'm not sure if it would take? Just a suggestion.
  19. This is great news indeed. As one of the modellers who put together the proposal and garnered support for Ben and Mike to consider taking these vehicles on as a project, I'd like to thank everyone for getting the project to the 'commence tooling' landmark. Particular thanks should go to those who ordered examples for philanthropic reasons. Thank you all!
  20. Is that three magnets together (in each bank) or is there a spacer in between? I'm assuming a spacer?
  21. This is a welcome announcement. I will need to try and find when ESSO used these, as potentially I could take at least one to go with the fleet of ESSO Class Bs we all hope will be produced. I'm sure I'll take a second, to commemorate the 50th anniversary, and put it in the display case.
  22. A lovely and atmospheric set of shots there. My favourite is the third one, very realistic with the lighting glinting off the rails. Such a shame about the building lights, not because they aren't lit, but more because you know it will eat away at you if you don't try to save the situation. Easy done really, so try not to be too hard on yourself. I'm sure you'll arrive at a beneficial solution. Keep us posted! Thanks for sharing!
