  1. Face recognition software wouldn't phase her
  2. Originally built by the Roman Mechanical & Engineering Legion the bridge crossed a fairly small river in a fairly deep ravine. The continual pounding of elephants weakened the construction unnoticeably. In later centuries the bridge fell into disuse except for the occasional fire chariots but the river widening scheme of the early 19th century brought it back into use. Global warming required more room for glacial water run off and the continued erosion of the chalk ravine meant that the bridge was split into 2 halves. Each part being dragged backwards for several metres (Belle Tout lighthousestyle) and major engineering took place using carbon fibre strengthening and some Gaffa tape. A large inserted centre piece was cleverly constructed in reinforced fibreglass and dressed in similar style to the original stonework. During the reconstruction period nobody was killed and a replacement bus service took pasengers on a 75 mile detour.
  3. Yes, agreed. My thought processess overlooked that.
  4. Overcast here in sunny Teignmouth today but I can see Shaldon which means there is no sea mist. Very impressed with GDB's shed. If he just clads it internally with foam rubber he will be safe for years. But I have a feeling electricity, pointy sharp things, tools and other weapons of infinite danger will soon fill it. Having just covered my river bridge in DAS and scribed stonework into it, what is the favoured method of painting it? Does it need an over all coat of something akin to mortar colour and then paint the stones? Any suggestions greatfully received.
  5. I finally decided to roll some DAS and stick it on the bridge. Having smoothed it out on all 3 surfaces I started scribing whilst wet and in about 3 hours it was complete. Drying out is now taking place and hopefully the DAS will remain in place.
  6. Spent the afternoon rolling DAS and (hopefully) glueing it onto the plaster bandaged polystyrene bridge that I made some time ago. After getting it all in place and smoothed out I decided to scribe it whilst wet. It went quite well although a stone mason might be critical of my style of stonework.
  7. Say no more. How's Blodwen these days? Does she still harbour thoughts for Talbort? He likes to enter port Caerphilly with his tiller midships.
  8. To be honest visit the valleys? Pobl y not. However Penn y Cillin sounds like a nice place. Do Andy & Tony Pandy still live around there?
  9. It certainly is and here is a photo of the plant in my garden that travelled to Devon, way back, from my grandparents garden in North London. Pink plant in forground.

  11. Overcast today in sunny Teignmouth. Three teens who were part of a larger group who were involved in smashing up an elderly couples summer house yesterday have handed themselves in to the police this morning. Amazing the power of your photo bring posted on Facebook. Earlier this morning I thought about going to SWAG at Taunton but I didn't.
  12. Storm Hannah has departed and we have a lovely evening, in fact, apart from 2 showers this afternoon it has been quite sunny today.
  13. -al people someplace else?
  14. I like the GWR poster advertising London Pride many years before Pride marches were thought of. Clever forward thinking there ;-).
