  1. yes please , I'm in the same position now as you were . @railtec-models I would also like a set of BR transfers for the Peco 7mm toad . What do you recommend . Slightly more generic , does anyone have or could point me in the direction of 16t toad numbers and allocations BR era ideally . Mtia
  2. I think eBay wants in essence to be an Amazonesque marketplace so the likes of many of us as small sellers are inconsequential and can be happily lost
  3. all the best to @rapidoandy with these . even I could be tempted although my money flows towards O rather than 00 now , I still have my 00 layout and add to it on occasion as it is nice to watch trains run as opposed to my end to end O gauge
  4. if it looks like a Siphon G then little intricacies I can forgive,as A , I just wouldn't know and B unless i'm looking very close I wouldn't see them. To me capturing the look and feel of the overall prototype is key . I'm certainly ordering at least one
  5. the interesting point is how was the Dapol container insured and is it fully covered or is there liability for Dapol
  6. i know its a picture but the wheel back to backs look different too
  7. I have bought and sold extensively on ebay in the past with very little issue until this year both items sent perfect , packaged well and ended up damaged . One I just refunded , one I claimed on the post insurance and received a refund . Since the buyer marked the item as didn't like and never sent it back (their expense) I was able to keep the compensation and original fee which netted the loss on the first item as a private seller the aggravation of both and following ebay's policy was the final straw and I will not sell on ebay again . The rot set in when postage was included in the fees you paid and since then it has been a creeping grab. I'm sure there is a price point where you actually make a loss I presume ebay policy is to pursue business sellers with items of value rather than the average person looking to sell on surplus items in their collection to fund new purchases and it certainly feels like a policy to dissuade the casual seller from selling
  8. Hornby selling direct to the public take 100% profit . selling through retailers they accept a lower margin (allowing the retailers to take a profit) Now ..... If any manufacturer works out based on direct pre-orders a production run that ticks the economics box and maximises their profit, whilst minimising the associated spend through third parties (retailers) then they are in a better place . It is not only railway modelling that I see wanting a big slice of the income to the detriment of others
  9. one post office did a very nice sideline in 00 gauge models , the sub post master having a layout behind the shop . He was accused of fraud and sadly took his own life
  10. Tony's trains of Rugby I believe is open instore again from Monday 12th
  11. a post on an o gauge facebook group suggests they are on the Ever Given which is being held until recovery costs from its contretemps in the canal are met
  12. Whilst not related to a mogul, Dapol very quickly dealt with an issue on an o gauge auto trailer replacing an auto trailer bogie FOC and in the post same day
  13. looks fabulous and well done on the build
  14. I presume there is risk that this and a number of models could be caught up in the Suez shipping issues
  15. I can highly recommend the steve and seagulls version of Thunderstruck. who knew an anvil could be a percussive instrument
  16. Speaking of parkside wagons latest construction is almost complete . Very fiddly but look good and very rewarding
  17. sorry ,I don't follow, how billions are lost in taxation . Sales are sales and there is no evidence of a major decline in sales . If anything with online profits can be higher and potentially a higher tax as a result . Why should I as a customer pay a tax to sustain a model that no longer works , if anything as prices go up what I spend is likely to go down
  18. it is but it isn't . our world is so much more virtual and I've never had any real desire to go round shops anyway .If I can order from my favourite model shop online or over the phone , even better. In fact given my dislike of shopping generally the more I can get online , win win all round and I get the time back I would have otherwise have spent going to town . Taxing online retailers isn't the solution to saving town centres . Covid has accelerated an otherwise slower change but town centres need to reinvent themselves to attract people back in . identikit shops that could be anywhere is not an incentive and sky high rents kill the smaller shops
  19. just to reassure you I'm not the other bidder and hope the engine does come your way . I'm still holding on for Dapol / lionheart to deliver . although a Stanier brake 3rd in BR Maroon was todays distraction
  20. now over £500 . There was a kit built one lurking on ebay , buffer beam had come off ,just doesn't look quite there as a 45xx
  21. bidding has got beyond where I was willing to go with a couple of very keen bidders
  22. there are some kit built ones on eBay, I wouldn't grant them the word nice though. Like you a heavily discounted Churchward Mogul or even a nice railcar are tugging at the ring fenced funds
