  1. Daily Bargain from Tony's trains of Rugby through December
  2. Having seen these in the flesh , these do look stunning and possibly even better than the small prairie which I didn't think possible Really nice to have a chat with Richard from Lionheart yesterday at Warley
  3. A wise move . I can see TT becoming a white elephant and at worst will tank or at best will cannibalise from existing OO and N gauge markets . The notion there is somehow a vast untapped market I don't buy .
  4. Thanks Ben . From my perspective I appreciate Dapol's (and Lionheart) continuing offerings in O Gauge and that is where my interest and custom lies .
  5. page 55 of Hugh Ballantyne's western region steam in colour published by Ian Allan has a shot of 5531 with a red backed smokebox number plate and I think red backed cabsides too appreciating this is the larger tanked variant
  6. Collected mine from Tony's Trains at Rugby today . What can I say but what a stunning model . runs beautifully, very heavy Captures the proportions of the class to near perfection Question is can I stretch to another
  7. A short break to Wales and an opportunity to see as many Narrow Gauge lines as practical whilst giving each some time A pitstop enabled us to see the Earl in operation at Welshpool Panned Earl by Martin Creese, on Flickr The afternoon was then spent at a busy Talyllyn railway Talyllyn railway 16th August 2022 by Martin Creese, on Flickr Talyllyn railway 16th August 2022 by Martin Creese, on Flickr Following day we went to the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway where I was able to enjoy a trip behind Russell Welsh Highland Heritage Railway by Martin Creese, on Flickr Stop at Boston Lodge Ffestiniog Railway by Martin Creese, on Flickr Final destination was Vale of Rheidol and a play with Margaret at Devils Bridge Hunslet 605 "Margaret" at Devils Bridge by Martin Creese, on Flickr A little video compilation from my two https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgfc34irF0k
  8. mines an hours drive and I have to get past Coventry (lovely city really )
  9. I'd prefer to stand by my local (ish) model shop than buy direct from Hornby especially if I have to pay Hornby's full prices . If needs be happy to wait for items to be available second hand
  10. Or they knew based on preorders with shops the volumes and saw an opportunity to increase their margin by taking the x% retailers get and in effect hoping the majority of pre orders with retailers shift to direct website sales . Now we could of course not move any of those preorders leaving Hornby sat on a mountain of stock they have to fund until such time they release it back to a now totally tiddled off trade or heavily discount on their website
  11. yes and no . I get the argument but what amazon predominantly sold was books and CD/DVD . Niche interests like ours still benefit from access to retail outlets and I buy things from a model shop because seeing something for real is often enough to swing my interest in buying . I also have a good friend who is a model shop owner so in my case I like to support him
  12. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295043995042?hash=item44b1fe15a2:g:GuQAAOSwioVirFPV interesting one , yes it may cost more to make anew but if the part isn't usable value little more than scrap
  13. How much is Hornby's offering a spoiler to dent Rapido's sales , smarting as they are by not getting the rights to The Titfield Thunderbolt . There is a play that says we won't see the advertised product .... irrespective of the legal matters , to me this and previous steps are morally wrong . Q6, King, Large Prairie , Hornby have become a company which comes across as bullying
  14. Another year almost gone . Many thanks to Tony for looking after my and my children's Railway modelling wants . Excellent service and much appreciated . popped over just before Christmas and came away with some goodies https://tonystrainsofrugby.com/ and I know he is listing a number of discounted offers on his website
  15. apologies as this is way too late a response but to add to others Transport treasury have produced some excellent books . Steam to Diesel transition in Cornwall is a must have , as the Riley collection ones

Please do take the opportunity to support Kidderminster Railway Museum if you visit over the gala
  22. Mine is loosening up with running and makes quite a nice slow speed now . Just DC but the lights on the cab ends that change with direction is a nice touch . It is settling nicely into my GWR Branch line terminus
  23. speaking of Sid Rickard .There are some shots of Super D's in the latest Railway Bylines (September edition) of his and now noted as J&J collection
  24. I should add that the sound of 7029 at Dorridge was hairs on the back of the neck stuff . Liam Marsh video 4;34
