  1. it appears that the poster has made the image private . this seems a rather sad decision as something like flick is made for image sharing and the poster posted the link , rather than a snip and paste
  2. very nice Ade, always nice to see a layout coming together .
  3. I built a GWR signal box some time ago and it came out ok even allowing for my fatter fingers .looks lovely though
  4. Many thanks for these . The end ones are very sad . I watched Henley in Arden being knocked down .I had to walk away
  5. Straying off topic , as a Shirley (solihull) resident would love to see the Bentley Heath images of they are shareable
  6. Brian reports this as a one off , something he didn't see again . Stratford to Leamington service .
  7. Like everything 2020 has thrown at us Model Shops have had to adapt to survive . Increasing their audience through social media, online selling to make up for the loss of footfall . The big loss will be the loss of show sales although how much that will translate into "normal" volumes we will see . the second big influence is us as a customer continuing to spend in our favourite/local shops . I've done far more model railway stuff this year than I have for probably 35 years . As a result I've spent more and I'm grateful to Tony's Trains of Rugby for getting stuff for me from my wish list
  8. for anyone looking for some prototype inspiration Brian England has posted this image of his on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=3389307107791358&set=a.2651834521538624 A interesting discussion on how the unit would have fared on Wilmcote bank with such a tail load in tow . 9. Like many model shops the second lockdown is doing little to help trading conditions especially in what should be peak season Tony's trains remains open for online ordering and click and collect. website is here https://tonystrainsofrugby.com/ and if there is anything specific you are looking for give Tony a ring . Delivery from EFE with the Beattie Well tanks imminent Facebook page also here https://www.facebook.com/tonystrainsofrugby
  10. My dithering on the Heljan/Dapol railcars has reached a conclusion . Dapol pannier 9669 will join fellow stablemate 7714 and allow further steam era recreations . Lovely as both railcars are i concluded on a higher play value with a pannier tank
  11. My income has been largely static for the last five years (and it is reasonable) my outlay with family grows exponentially so what I have to spend on my interests contracts considerably . I have to be creative so second hand purchases where possible . Trading surplus items in the collection to fund new and my spend is now to O gauge . To frighten some my eldest prefer's O to OO and his Christmas and birthday list is O gauge
  12. I'm sure i've seen a much lower price for Heljan , more the £420 mark . It could be my eyes and memory failing edit , no they weren't ! https://www.hattons.co.uk/newsdetail.aspx?id=586 £466 though
  13. Price point is close to Heljan's variant . An AEC railcar is very tempting , Dapol vs Heljan though
  14. I'm sure you do, but there are some nice images in Branch Line Byways vol 1 The West Midlands by G F Bannister and published by Atlantic Press in 1986. A number of images of Bitterley are included Edit , should have read page 2 first !
  15. I could be very very tempted as it fits in nicely with my theme . Would want assurance on build quality although I guess less bits to fall of
  16. I should explain what all this building is for Having gravitated into o gauge all these buildings will go onto a layout which has been named Ralph Road . It was one my eldest liked and is actually where our allotment is . My interest in all things GWR aligned with the availability of engines and stock at prices that are accessible set the tone for the layout . space dictates a classic branch line terminus as the layout sits alongside my 00 gauge circuit and also a my late fathers Hornby O gauge collection. This also has the benefit of controlling the size of loco's and fleet which so far is Dapol and Lionheart products . Temptation to add a Heljan engine has so far been resisted As to location I'm probably making the cardinal error in that it is somewhere on the former GWR system and steals inspiration from many classic locations . The goods shed as you have seen is Watlington , Engine shed and huts drawn from Wallingford, Station building is likely to be Heathfield/Chudleigh once I embark on construction. This enables any running to be set in which ever part of the region that takes my fancy . I'll add a picture of the plan later but I like track and sidings so the board is filled with as much as sensible to enable running variety .
  17. More construction with a goods shed almost completed. Once again cereal packets , balsa strip and I did get slaters plasticard for the brick base and chimney . Modelled on Watlington goods shed although I omitted the gable end window and in the absence of images the weighbridge office window . It did spur me on to buy both the excellent Wild Swan books on the Watlington Branch
  18. I think every trader who has managed to keep going , often having to shift selling to an online platform deserves a lot of credit .I am very appreciative of all the delivery services who have got orders to me . finally to all the customers who have carried on modelling and supporting their local model shops
  19. That BL milk tanker is a thing of beauty , many thanks for sharing
  20. Summer tempered my construction enthusiasm as well as changes to the planned layout . Interior of the signal box is work in progress but externally it is all complete digressing I wanted a grounded wagon body and whilst I was tempted by the slaters kit my new found enthusiasm for cereal packets and an a very wet evening in front of the tele saw me sat armed with lap tray , a Bran Flakes box, Balsa and glue Roof needs a little tidying up and may be replaced as has some score lines from another project on one edge .Overall I'm quite pleased with how it looks and for a couple of hours work was rather rewarding
  21. very nice , especially the detail inside and the addition of lighting is very good . One lesson I have picked up card has a tendency to warp and lots of cross bracing either with more card or good old balsa is needed
  22. I'm afraid I also got seduced by O gauge which my wallet very much regrets. My available space now has 3 rail o gauge, oo gauge and a fledgling o gauge branch line terminus. Having spent on loco's and stock , building budget is very slender !! so my preferred medium has been the humble cereal packet aided by balsa wood . GWR signal box already created and goods shed currently being built . Once I have a moments calm I'll post some pictures
  23. just found this thread and probably at severe risk of duplication but that is very much based on Watlington goods shed and probably those at Aston Rowant and Chinnor too
  24. looks fabulous @westerner . A very convincing model and my compliments to you
  25. Excellent news and looking forward to getting one . timing thankfully aides cash flow having just bought Dapol's Pannier
