  1. Excellent depiction of a Germanic building in its simple form Iain. Having read your descriptive notes on the build you've come along just at the Wright ( sorry ) time and given me a nudge with the use of paints used for the realistic roof colouring. Like you I have a day book but do you think I can find it ? Well done Best Grahame
  2. Has just been alerted to an article in The Sun newspaper about "steamy" Prieser figure, maybe "anoraks" could be taken the wrong wayby their readers ?

  4. Hi Pete, Looks like I'm hogging this site a bit more! ( with Allan' s permission -see above) Nice work again, can I ask the which "green leaves" you've used to get the ivy effect please ? Very effective ! Regards Grahame
  5. Er..... Are there any sausages being served in there Allan ? Sorry, I've hogged your site enough today, keep it going, tea and biscuits at midnight eh! Cheers Grahame
  6. How did I do it hmmmm.......some acrylic paint, a slice of Celotex type insulation foam carved into the sausage shape and a spare motor bogie fitted into it. Don't worry no real sausages were harmed or wasted in the process !
  7. Looking good Mikkel, I like the out of the box approach for retarding the wagons, I hope it works for you. Even so, I'm still very impressed with the way in which the wagons seem to slow down upon entering the shed. Looking forward to further updates. Kind regards Grahame
  8. Envious.....er what do you think! Excellent photographs, if only I'd have know it's something ive wanted to do for a long time now. Do you know of any more similar this year ? Cheers Grahame

  15. Thank you Iain, It was a bit of trial and error on my part but having spent a day on a roof being thatched by a good friend whilst going about my inspections it was just asking to be attempted. The original cob cottage ( now slated) still stands with the thatched outbuilding at right angles to it on a road in Devon and having asked the owner if I could measure both buildings they were most obliging. The plumbers hemp was cut into small stooks and then just the ends dipped into pva to hold them ( my workbench at the time looked reminiscent of a crop circle gone wrong! ) . The bundles were then pinned to the card sub roof using wire "u" shaped crooks ( or hooks ) to hold them in place, some of my friends thought at that point I should have been committed ! LOL I'm sure there are easier and just as effective ways but I just wanted to prove to myself it could be done in miniature. I'm extremely glad I've not been asked to produce another one too! This will now go back in its box until another project calls out for a thatched building. Happy modelling everyone, happy modelling )
  16. I'm a bit late to the post, but thanks for the vids, they've given me mant hours of enjoyment too. Keep up the good work, I'm sure you have encouraged many modellers both old and new
  17. So, what do you use for thatch? I've responded to another post with these examples of my 1994 "efforts' Early trials using plumbers hemp, due to the fact that Chinese hair isn't widely available as per the Pendon way. Happy modelling everyone Grahame
  18. What is it with today's "kids".......every other word is LIKE! Argh! Can they not use it correctly? I'd rather listen to a Neanderthal man conversing , atleast there is more guttural expression in his utterings! WAKE UP children you won't find the word being used in books or even your favourite television programmes!!! Rant over thank you
