Through-out the 1970s BBC TVs Blue Peter would show what looked at time on a (20inc TV) a massive railway layout .
I would think it was probably been Tri-ang / Hornby locomotives dose anyone else remember more/ anything about it.
I have looked for footage of the programme that might have had footage with layout in it but failed to come across any as yet.
Completed trials of the coach pulling power of Cock O The North on my lay-out the other day now
my P2 as the X 9108 motor fitted . She now can pull a proper train with a rake of 16 coaches.
8 Pullmans Coaches, 8 Royal Coaches. I was more than happy with that, I tried 17 coaches but
was a bit tight with that size rake radius 4s with a R 600 short straight in middle of curve.
Solved problem of my P2 out of control front pony truck that had a mind of its own like a supermarket trollies front wheels.
I have fitted a 10mm X 3mm nut on top of the pony truck held in place with blue tack that as done the job she runs all
day without derailing on my radius 4 curves that have a R600 straight in middle . None of my 4-6-2s ever have derailed
there only the P2.
ok then will Hornby still be in business come the end of 2016 either with buy-out or not ?.
I would like to see it still in business so will not sit on the fence and say ,,,,,,,,,YES.
Hi Rob,
I have sent you a P M with some YouTube links showing it being fitted
hope it helps you. You will be more than happy should you get the new X9108
fitted.
P2 C.O.C.K O THE NORTH is now out of Doncaster Works having had a refit in the form of
a new 5 pole screw X9108 motor . The P2 now runs how it should have done like a dream.
Hooked her up to a rake of 8 Pullmans & pulled with ease would not have pulled them with
original motor, I might now even put C.o.c.k. O The North on test to see if she can match
my Bachmann Tornado and pull a rake 17 coaches.
What Hornby need is a a good buyout by the likes of Pete Waterman & Peter Jones ,everyone knows
the passion Pete Waterman as for the hobby you only have to see him talk about trains to see that.
Peter Jones buyout of the failing photography firm of Jessops shows brand names can come back to life
All I can say is what would Frank Hornby think knowing what a mess management people have got his
family firm into or even present day family members of Hornby.
No one wants to see Hornby go bust , as someone as said on here they would not miss them if they did.
But over the years Hornby have been taking the mick out of us all . Look back to the great Gathering the
price to buy the box set . Now this year I know Hornby are paying tribute to the great man Sir Nigel Gresley
there is the silver A4 Collection £500ish and The Sir Nigel Gresley consisting of a P2 A1 A3 A4 another £500ish .
I sometimes wonder you know if Del Boy ,Rodney & Trigger are running Hornby they went to Margate once
and the buss blue up was it a Hornby buss I wonder.
