  1. But an “industrial loco” comes in other sizes and configurations too. A few posts back,I made a pitch for the Lambton tank ,currently enjoying its renaissance on the NYMRC.We were given the nod that it’s under consideration. Bigger than your average Peckett / Andrew Barclay ..?
  2. I have already posted on this on ANTB. So to repeat here,I can reassure you that it is no longer the case that Hornby’s rendition of GWR/BR green is the travesty that was inflicted on us for years. Citing three examples released at least 4/5 years ago : Star 4013,Castle 5013 & earlier edition 4073.
  3. Another GW/WR useful dose of information. Rails have just deducted payment for my Rapido 15XX order. Bright news on a dreary day I think.
  4. In fact, looking at the last iteration of 4073 released at least 4/5 years ago,it had reached the identical shade&finish then. I recall that I purchased it at a time when Hornby were giving them away with a packet of breakfast cereal & it was via eBay. I said I didn’t need it then but obviously I’m glad I did now. Star 4013 is also of the identical shade. If you follow trends on retail websites, you will notice that with some releases there are significant reductions after a while…the A2&A3 for instance. See if this happens now with 4073 .Just a thought.
  5. Yes it’s better and truthfully has been for a while.Would suggest waiting on hold for a while to allow over inflated current prices to reach a rational point by subsiding to what is best perhaps described as “market value “ . The Hornby Castle remains a damned good model in anybody’s currency.
  6. Yes you’re right.Especially when you consider the attention that models of other one off diesel/ ‘non steam’ locomotives of the transition period have been receiving lately…notably KR ( No such thing as bad publicity? ). Wonder why this is ? Are we sated by failures & near misses perhaps or might we consider that Heljan has sometimes been on the receiving end of some less than favourable comments on this forum. And thus are we mildly surprised that actually this is a good model ? Look then back over the last decade at the rtr editions they’ve provided. Yes ,maybe a couple of glitches but quite a bit of quality stuff too that others wouldn’t or couldn’t touch. …..the Gas Turbine ,the NER railcar & dc electric being recent.
  7. I am giving serious consideration to upgrading my order to a sound version…..even though I’m dc analogue. Don’t suppose there’s knowledge yet to support my wish that, like most sound offerings atm ( apart from Hornby) it’ll work in limited fashion on dc. Be good if it did…but not for the finances.
  8. To reassure you,I have currently in front of me a photo of 1505 taken at OOC c1955 in lined black condition
  9. Arrived on the scene in 2018 at Rails new store launch at the same time as they scanned the Deltics at the DPS Barrow Hill…a short distance away. A retail relationship followed soon concurrently with a successful business plan.
  10. Both the girls were indeed. I’m glad because Lucy is a local lass. Enjoy.
  11. Which is in itself complicated by the fact that it has split coverage between BBC1 & 2. IMHO an excellent choice.as was last night’s prom .Tonight’s soloists are stellar. Sheku needs no introduction. Watching Lisa Davidsen for me is very special.Apart from the fact that her voice is glorious,my late wife and I attended her Met.Opera debut performance some four years ago in New York.It was memorable but sadly it was our very last such occasion together. So I’m not going to miss it. If you do watch,I hope you enjoy & succeed after with ITV player. Sorry for going OT.
  12. I’ve had a rake of 6 LLNW wagons stored for months but little suitable motive power for them until now.My hope was to run it t&t with a pair of 37. I run dc analogue on my tabletop and my simple controller is a Gaugemaster Combi….simple but effective which will give results with sound too. So I’ve just gone nuclear with much trepidation and the result is smooth, effortless and stable in each direction. Both A/C 37 respond in unison and are entirely controllable. I know I shouldn’t be surprised but I am . The whole train looks right.I won’t indulge in sound with this however. But good to know I can model a typical DRS waste train.
  13. I your case Phil,Caprottidom ended at Temple Meads. Of course Black 5’s were everyday on the S&D but I have no knowledge of a Caprotti variant working the route. That’s not of course to say that they didn’t. To further complicate matters,Standard 5’s also had a run of Caprottis…..but Bachmann thus far have shown no inclination of producing it.
  14. If we’re talking of the Stanier Caprotti 5 ,may I respectfully suggest it would have been Holbeck ( M R ) rather than Neville Hill ( NER ) . Bristol Barrow Road in any case had an allocation of several in the 1950’s for working the Midland route from Temple Meads to New Street,Derby & beyond to Sheffield,Leeds & York . If this model is in development I hope it’ll be recognised that there existed a wide variety of design covering the Caprottis. Just take a look for instance at specifications for 44686 & 44687 ..only two but highly regarded in performance terms.
  15. This will take me off topic in response to this,so apologies for the stray. Latest Bachmann Collectors Club rolling stock release is of Mk 2A BFK 14060 which is Support Coach for the Bahamas Locomotive Society. The conclusion you could draw from this is that a model of the locomotive may be in development.Otherwise, why release the support coach ? I should add that I have no tangible further knowledge of this. So please no frothing.
  16. Fully support your enthusiasm for a County. An outstanding omission to the 4mm r.t.r. catalogue. I admit to nagging incessantly for too many years on this one.
  17. I shouted for the Lambton only a few days ago.But I did urge to keep up the noise ! I believe we may have success in the not-too-distant future.

  21. Ian Hargrave

    LMS 10000

That’s the name. Thanks. Yes of course expensive as you’d expect from Ajin.Amazing performance though and beautifully crafted. The Dapol version I think rides far too high due to body clearances.
