  1. Following up on Focus Stacking, and not wishing to get immersed in complicated PC programmes, I downloaded an App on my iPhone* which takes 3 photos, each focussed on a point you choose. You have to hold the phone really still during the exposures and you get processed combination image which has its flaws but gives the impression of a huge depth of focus and thus realism. Probably worth the £2.99! Sven has been asked to get the orange paint off the cattle truck floor while a 64xx simmers waiting for more scenery. Samantha is busy scoring in Bath! *FocusCamera
  2. There are a few topics under 'focus stacking' but Andy's tutorial is found at http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/84168-whats-involved-with-processing-an-image-for-the-magazine/?p=1403993 That looks a bit long, but I copied and pasted it from the 'share' box ! Mike
  3. It was worth watching it (FS) being driven on the SVR with their own crew, with the driver providing an understated commentary. The green looked the right colour too! Thank you BBC!
  4. I vaguely remember a breakdown train derailing in Frome -on the way to a derailment. That would be the late 1980s and presumably the crane would have come from Swindon. I had hoped there was one based in Bristol or Westbury so it could trundle through my Limpley Stoke set in the '30s.....
  5. A Doctor from Brent called Rolf Creasy Was asked why his hands were so greasy, I confess then, he said I've been in my shed, Now my locos run so much more easy. I rest my case for Dr Creasy in the Austin Seven : he would have a bigger car had he not spent so much money at Basset Lowke
  6. I knew of a Dr De'ath and a Dr Reckless. The best was a Dr Harding-Rains, known behind his back as 'raining hard' Perhaps you could ask Dr Wollaston of that parish who her predecessors were- there must be one funny name for our titillation!
  7. In 1947 Pre-nationalised GP's had to wait a couple of years for their favoured car- the Triumph Mayflower. I wonder if an Austin 7 would be sturdy enough for Dartmoor in the depths of winter- perhaps his second car was a Mk1 Land Rover,.
  8. To celebrate 2017 our central heating failed this morning- it's now warmer in my shed than our house ---SWMBO will not be amused!!
  9. Spare a thought for all those Chinese ladies doing this every day for us - to keep us happy and have lots to discuss- though they would have a jig for the really difficult bits, or is that what those metal clips are?
  10. Thank you for pointing me to the 'GWR post 1942 Cornish Riviera formation ' thread - I should have read it earlier, but it didn't come up in my searches! It's well worth reading.
  11. After the bumpy ride on this topic I have not seen, or have missed, comment on the recessed number plates in the latest images- to my eyes the plates seem to fill the recesses without a gap- a big improvement- which shows this medium is effective.
  12. I have some ABC ( Alan Brett Cannon ) track from the mid 70s, fibre sleeper base with holes punched to accept plastic chairs. Mine is to EM gauge but I think OO was available. The rail profile is more flat bottom than bullhead though. I think it predates Ratio's OO and EM track.
