  1. Well, in all honesty, I really loved the Thomas that was in many books I had, the very same one that appeared on shows produced by "HIT Entertainment". I think those were based on G scale models used to shoot the series. I'd always remember Thomas like that. So I'd wish something like that was done. - So yea I think a better shade of blue and even the new face is OK. - He will look a bit more like the series one if shortened - I'd not want those lowered buffers I fully agree with you. I think Annie and Clarabel (and other coaches in the series based on the same design) would look much more realistic on a CCT chassis. Didn't some company actually make a OO scale model of that steam tram that Toby is based on? I think it is a J70 and maybe will be suitable if you can get hold of an extra face.
  2. TBH, I will not keep my hopes up. As I said before, I'd have not had a issue with the old tooling, it was just a bit outrageous that they took 2 years to review something that probably has different packaging. That was more disappointing. However their new GWR coaches have sent me over the moon. So I am atleast happy with that. If I were Hornby, I'd start off small with a fully re-tooled and more accurate Thomas, Annie and Clarabel. Accompanying this I'd love to see Percy, Toby, Henrietta and a standard wagon with various faces. Starting off with a smaller and more accurate range would cost less and also restore faith in the customers.
  3. Never expected a range of GWR coaches...Well done Hornby. Just out of interest - are these coaches actually the same type that appear in the railroad range (with the working parcel van?)
  4. I think the minimum thickness for walls is 1mm. If lower then I'd use 0.8mm and nothing lower than that as it will affect the structural strength of the model. BTW...Nice work!
  5. Thanks...that answers it!! Maybe 3D printing some more accurate tenders and other things would be better.
  6. Seems like Thomas is only available in sets? Can't see him available as a single piece
  7. SILLY QUESTION: Well I'd like some accuracy in my Thomas collection (if I ever start one) Would designing just the bodies and making models for myself cross any legal barriers? Just a question, nothing serious. I'm sure the faces have more to do with license than the actual body of the locos?
  8. Ahh well a bit of disappointment for me. 1) I actually don't mind the Hornby range or Bachmann range. Thomas himself has changed multiple times in the series so there is literally no real one I'm glad it's back, just expected more from it. 2) What really upset me was the time taken to review the range and act like big changes were happening. I never knew it takes 2 years to re-introduce the same thing. That is upsetting. Other than this missed opportunity, I'm happy it's back.
  9. Nothing immature in that. I've had nothing but good service from Hornby. Being an international customer I've still had exceptional service from them with little or no issues. Bachmann has been the opposite to me. As I stated that this was just my personal opinion and I was lucky to see the better side of Hornby. Furthermore I'd prefer buying a model from a company I like and supporting the smaller suppliers with their kits (alot of RMwebbers do that). And to my last point, there are alot of members on this forum who have a double standard and love to bash Hornby, but when it comes to Bachmann there are alot of excuses ready thus giving Bachmann a lot of leverage. So where is the immaturity in that? I shared my personal opinion with Dave (never forced anyone to believe in it), accepted that others feel just the opposite. I showed my support to the smaller suppliers which also aids me in my modelling skills and I simply stated a fact about some RMwebbers who've been constantly behind anything Hornby did. Alot of people were not pleased when Hornby decided to announce the SR MN but no one is complaining about Bachmann's announcement that is due. If you think I am immature, there is simply no need to reply to my posts. I think logic suggests you buy what you like, be open to others opinions, have a standard and keep the main aim of the hobby going. That is what has been promoted by this forum which is excellent and that is what I did. Cheers!
  10. Exactly why I prefer Hornby (all personal reasons). I prefer buying the Hornby Class 90 and using Peter Harvey's excellent Class 90 Detailing Kit + my own 3D designed detailing stuff to do it up myself. Not only have I had 100% satisfaction from Hornby but also been buying stuff from them since '99. Always had top notch service also. With Bachmann I've been less satisfied with a variety of problems. For me it's Hornby and PH Designs all the way when it comes to a Class 90. Hope Pete does something for a Class 92. Cheers! JBM. PS: Pity hardly anyone is bashing the blue team, people are every ready to bash Hornby......strange!!! Well I'd stand and support the true British brand a.k.a Hornby who seem to have turned a corner.
  11. Hi Darrel, Without any intention to nitpick....... Yes I do understand that you feel the price is high but please take into account the following. 1) The 4wDM Sentinel is 2 years old now (maybe more??). It now has an MRP of 55.99 if I'm not mistaken. 2) The Sentinel whilst detailed isn't actually full of separate detail (apart from the handrails, sandpipes and side panels. I think it has one etched metal grill also) 3) The 4wDM Sentinel will be marginally smaller than an 0-6-0 like Thomas (longer and taller) 4) If you look at the prices of fully detailed 0-6-0s today they all are aroud the 99.99 or 100+ mark. Thomas for 60.99 is perfectly fine (if it's new tooling + a license fee %age)
  12. Will be looking forward to hearing something....Please do post once you get to know. Many thanks for the heads up
  13. "New Thomas" as in fresh off the old tooling with a new lick of paint in that old light blue?
  14. It's best we talk about how many want a Class 91 set and not about the tooling costs at the moment. There are many ways to get the necessary funding. It's better if you join the topic if you want one rather than be discouraging to those do want one. It is a possibility.
  15. I agree with Rabs. I was nearly cheated by 2 gentlemen once in a similar case. They only boasted about their print quality and time. But they took too many short-cuts. Luckily I was able to see a test sample first. It was ########. So I was saved in the nick of time.
  16. A good reason to actually read the article mate....
  17. Bomag please remember that whatever you say isn't gold......So far it's literally only you who feels upset with this. No one else has a problem so please learn to accept it. I think what Revolution has done is actually the better option. You don't like don't go on about it. It's a place to discuss. I don't think your are good at discussing. I think getting an N gauge Pendolino wasn't enough for you (you're the hard to please kind) Ben and Mike..You'll didn't tell me about your latest "N gauge complain box" Was the project crowd funded?
  18. I also just noticed that.....They playing tricks on us.!!! Bad Hornby! *Spank Spank!*
  19. A pity really. I at the moment have no hopes of a "NEW" range. If they do plan on having a new range I don't think they should have put an image of older tooling alongside screengrabs. Whilst I have no issue with which tooling they use (i.e. old or the rumoured new), my main issue is that it just seems like they wasted time in making people hope for something new and they may turn out old stuff. If it was time consuming in the lisence process or something then Hornby should have said that. Alot of people will be hoping for brand new stuff and they may be disappointed. That worries me. Would not want Hornby's reputation to fall again.
  20. By different I meant that finally we are not guessing "Contents May Vary From The Images Show" I wish that was the case....
