Wow!! When it had turning fans, people complained & when it doesn't people still complain. Poor old Hornby..... I feel bad for them!! PS: Turning can also mean freely-rotating. Can still argue that it hasn't been mentioned that the fans turn and are bogie driven.
Yes, This image shows us a pretty good picture of the model. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-21774-0-34210200-1409939175.jpg
I quite agree with that. Somehow I like detail where it matters, other than that I see no need of extra detail where it just isn't needed. I think the DJM one would have been priced at a much lesser amount if all that extra detail difference hadn't been there. It's just extra tooling cost. I see no need for detailed smoke boxes either. I will opt for the Hornby one. However for a Class 59 I'm surely going for a DJM one.
That's good news Ben. I feel very upset not having money at the time. But to enter N gauge I think the Arnold 5BEL and the Revolution Trains Pendolino will be a perfect start. Though I have no clue how they will sit side by side
It looks too basic for today's standards, no headlights, wrong pantograph, gritty paint finish and a very unrealistic price. Can get much more with that amount of money.
Would love to see a video. Up close the nose portion looks funny. I thought of 3D printing my own basic shell. I'd love some modern liveries. Will any manufacturer scale down decals?
I think one can immediately see that the Hornby studio used to take a pic of 31285 is more brightly lit than the Hattons studio used to take a pic of 31233.
Can easily make it out by looking at the entire model.
Edited Hattons pic. Since Hattons couldn't actually get their image straight straight on, it helps us see hoe even editing can change a colour. The left hand side looks almost identical to Hornby and the right hand side is darker.
Cheers!
Advances in DCC with TTS, Superbly detailed models back on track, excellent customer service, outstanding communication and virtually a 2016 announcement every 2 months!!!! Gotta love the new Hornby!!
Hey! Some images of the various parts from the tooling from Kernow's facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/207521425956079/photos/a.312706475437573.66640.207521425956079/923696397671908/?type=1&theater
Hi, Does Judith Edge do custom etches for kits? If so how can I contact them (cannot see any website)?
I need a pantograph kit designed. I have all necessary measurements and can probably get more details if required.
Regards,
JBM.
I've long been behind Hornby to introduce a brand new RailRoad Class 08. I stated my reasons in a various thread. However You made a good point about the main one loosing sales. But I really still feel that atleast the Class 08 needs a better budget version. It will greatly benefit the Thomas range. If an accurate prototype is made with a clever design involving a front grill to be swapped easily with a face then Hornby can make 3 characters from TTTE.
