  1. The problem is that if you buy everything online you risk model railway exhibitions going the same ways as model railway shops have done over recent years. Model Railway exhibitions can not exist on the paying public only, they need the revenue from the trade stands. So please do support the traders. Terry
  2. I suggest you read MarkSG reply to your previous post.
  3. Hi Chris I wondered if that would be the way the cement tower worked, perhaps someone can confirm ? If it does it helps me with a plan I have in mind, adaption of the Shelfie layout. I don’t think I’ve seen anything on Lockdown Fen, neither Bakewell Street is this your venture into 7mm Cheers Terry
  4. Hi Chris I'm pleased it all went well for you at Thornbury. A bit to far to travel from Stafford at the present fuel prices, and to make things worse I tested positive for covid last Friday, which also means having to cancel Camel Quay appearing at Warley this year. Not a happy bunny 🐇 I love the layout as I did Dock Street so with the inspiration of your postings I have packed away Camel Quay this morning (next outing York in 2023) So time to start a new project or two. Question re the cement tower just before the bridge, I understood (perhaps incorrectly) that the wagons went under the tower for filling ? When and where are you exhibiting one of your layouts next ? All the best. Terry
  5. I would like to add my thanks to all concerned with the Wigan Show over the very many years I have attended either as a exhibitor or a regular visitor. I don’t think I ever missed a exhibition for well over 25 years. To me Wigan was always a premier show, and not one to be missed. This years selection of layouts was one of the best ever. The Wigan Show will be sadly missed. Terry Stafford Railway Circle
  6. The current situation of rail strikes is a problem to Warley NEC exhibition as It was for both the recent Wigan and our own exhibition at Stafford in September and I am sure many other model railway exhibitions over the last few months. The rail strikes clubs comes as a bitter blow after clubs having had to cancel exhibitions in the last two years because of the covid restrictions. For many if not in fact all the surplus revenue generated pays for the clubroom and model activities for the future. I firmly believe that model railway exhibitions are the lifeblood of model railways and we all must wherever possible try and overcome the obstacles that are put in front of us. Although the rail strike will most definitely cause travel problems not only for those that normally travel by train but also the increase of cars will undoubtedly cause traffic problems. So if you are going by car go earlier, share a car with fellow club members and share the costs, go on the Sunday this year. The good news is there seems to be a return to attending exhibitions with levels seen pre covid that I have attended in recent weeks. So let us all try to be positive and find ways to support not only Warley but all model railway exhibitions that we have been going too for years. Terry
  7. The Hunslets look absolutely stunning and I will be very tempted to have a dabble in 009 Well done Bachmann Terry
  8. In the case of the NEC the charge will be £75 if you overstay your hour. Personally though it hopefully will deter some from leaving there vehicle longer than to just unload the layout or trade stand.
  9. Here again my understanding is that you can book in on arrival and you but it may take longer to find you a time slot that is available. I have spoken to Afford the van company Stafford Railway Circle and it’s members use, and they should be able to give the hire van reg a few days before (in theory) It will all be a learning curve but let’s give it a chance
  10. My understanding is the breakdown will be as previously years conducted by the Warley team. Thank Heavens
  11. There are additional problems to overcome this year for all the layout owners, traders etc. The NEC in there wisdom have now introduced a vehicle booking system for any vehicles who wish to enter the halls or even park outside the halls to unload on the Friday or Saturday. All vehicles have to be booked in advance with the full details of which hall they are going to, the stand number. They also require to know the vehicle registration number (not possible if you are using a hire van till the day you collect it ) the drivers name, contact telephone number and email address. Plus there credit card details so if you stay there allocated time slot they will be charged a minimum of £75 And of course the cameras will log your time in and out. If it all works great, but I have my doubts . Terry
  12. I think it is easier for all the operators to use my second recoded power cab hand unit as then all buttons are the same on each controller. I will probably sell the NCE 06 hand unit. Terry
  13. Have any of the magazines done a feature of fitting a sound chip in the Bachmann N Class Terry
  14. Stafford Model Railway Exhibition will be held over the weekend of 23rd & 24th September 2023 It will be in the larger venue of Bingley Hall at the Stafford County Showground The Adult admission price will be £15.00 accompanied under 16s free The will 50 layouts and 55 traders demos and club stands So that’s about 11months away and hopefully next year we will offering advance tickets All the normal features of free parking for 2500 cars, courtesy bus service from Stafford Railway station on both days. Hope to see many more of you there. Put the date in your diary NOW And there will not be any snow…… Terry
  15. On behalf of Stafford Railway Circle I would like first of all to a thank all the visitors who voted for Whiteacres and win the trophy as there favourite layout. I would also like to thank Mike Wild and all the Hornby team for all there hard work in making the exhibition a success, also a thank you to all the MK stadium staff who all so very helpful. A great atmosphere at the exhibition with a good selection of layouts complemented by good trade support. Terry
  16. I found a issue this evening when switched on after tea for which I have found the solution. The slave handset needs to be unplugged on powering up the system, then plugged in. You live and learn. Terry
  17. Hi John All works a treat, many thanks for all your help. Kind regards Terry
  18. Thank you for confirming my thoughts. I will try it this afternoon Terry
  19. Hi John Its a Power Cab Its used on my other layout and may have different macro programmed into it. If its acting as a slave controller will it use the macro in the master. Would it be best used with the curly 4 wire cable Terry
