  1. I was chatting with James Hilton at Doncaster Exhibition, and yes he has a second book planned with no firm publishing date as yet, but maybe next year. He tells me the first edition has sold out. Terry
  2. The Chilterns Model Railway Association (CMRA) have a large number of barriers which are available for clubs that are members to use for there exhibitions. I believe there are a couple of stores in the south and I manage the store in Stafford. They are used at the Stafford Exhibition and supplement the Warley’s own barriers at the NEC. In the past they were used at Derby and Wigan Exhibitions If any club wants any further information about the CMRA barriers please feel free to PM me Like many have said, I prefer to have barriers in front both on the Stafford Club layouts and my own layouts. Terry
  3. With going to Doncaster last Saturday and Glasgow next Friday I would be pushing my luck with management. Hope there will be some YouTube videos to watch of the exhibition in the coming days. Terry

  6. Like many have said before me, a really enjoyable day out at Doncaster Exhibition on Saturday. I arrived at 09:25 and thought the long queue was for the 10:00 pay on the door customers However joined the pre paid queue but I was in the hall within 10min (Well doe to all on the door) about 09:40 As I didn’t leave the exhibition till 16:30 plenty to see and I I had a most enjoyable day looking at the layouts (some hopefully to be at Stafford in the future) Lots of chats with fellow railway modellers, traders and layout owners/operators as I walked round. A most enjoyable day, and good value for money, it was great to see so modellers have started to return in larger numbers to exhibitions once again after the pandemic. Terry
  7. It’s strange that no one has commented that about five hours ago I gave all the Exhibition information of our forthcoming exhibition in September with layout names, photographs and descriptions (thank you for the RMWEB members who gave it the thumbs up) I agree having all the information and photographs of the layouts in advance could perhaps prevent a potential visitor coming to a exhibition. I believe it’s better that happens and that they don’t go away disappointed and have not wasted their time and money and perhaps never to come to the Stafford Exhibition again. I believe at Stafford we give a wide selection of layouts in all scales and gauges and as we regularly have 4000 visitors each year others think the same. I like others that have commented here look at what layouts, traders and demonstrators will be at an exhibition and make a decision as whether to visit the exhibition or not, and if I don’t go it won’t stop me looking again next year. Terry Stafford Railway Circle
  8. We at Stafford have always made available both descriptions and photographs of layouts attending our exhibition providing the layout owner has made them available to us. The list of layouts already booked to appear at our September Exhibition 23rd & 24th will be published here on RMWEB very soon. Full information can be found at www.staffordrailwaycircle.org.uk Press the three bars at the top right hand side of the header (Menu) Press the option EXHIBITIONS Press - Under details of the Main Exhibition in September First you will see the header with all the exhibition details Scroll down to layouts booked All the layout names are underlined and are in red Select the layout you want further information on A full description of the layout and photographs as supplied by the owner I feel that answers your questions Terry Happy Modelling and I look forward to seeing you all at our September Exhibition
  9. Did that many years ago at Warley when John took the place of Norman Solomon’s
  10. Asking John along as operator of Camel Quay was not a problem. However asking John to operate my modern image layout Oil Drum Lane with smelly blue diesels was never going to happen. However John will be one of the team with Camel Quay at York this Easter and hopefully at Warley this year (I had to cancel it going in 2022 as caught Covid)
  11. Morning I will drop a email too all the demonstrators in the next couple of weeks, a additional demonstration for 2023 being a certain gentleman called Mr John Wardle demonstrating the dark arts of how to ballast you newly laid track.
  12. Good Morning Mike Thanks for your positive comments about our Stafford Exhibition, which will be the way even bigger for 2023 Perhaps you would kind enough to vote for Stafford as your favourite exhibition in the British Railway Modelling Awards Terry
  13. Any way back to the Stafford Exhibition in September. I believe from our exhibition layout coordinator that I will be able to add the the list of layouts booked here in a few days time. The booking of the traders is in full swing after a few computer hiccups by me. About to send out the paperwork to the demonstrators. All for now Terry

List of layouts will be posted shortly, details on our website www.staffordrailwaycircle.org.uk/exhibition A demonstration area and our legendary secondhand stand in a dedicated area on the first floor Disabled access to the first floor together with full facilities whether a cuppa, snack or light meal As in previous years there will parking for well 2500 vehicles and a courtesy bus operating from Stafford Station on both days. 17. I can’t believe that Hornby will miss the 75 & 100 year anniversaries, so perhaps on January 10th we will find out what’s in store from Hornby to celebrate these major British Railway anniversaries. Terry
  18. Let’s just all hope it arrives in early 2023 as it was January 2019 when it was announced. Terry
  19. I heard a rumour at a recent exhibition that they were looking to introduce Z gauge to there range. Merry Christmas to you all Terry
  20. Condolences too on behalf of Stafford Railway Circle Your stand has been a regular at the Stafford Exhibitions from as long as I can remember, having over the years had a number of different owners including Eileen and her husband who originally started the business Like many of others have said you will be sadly missed on the exhibition circuit as you offered a range of tools and materials which are not easily sourced. Terry
  21. Thank you for posting the sad information that Trevor Cousins had recently passed away. I believe I first met Trevor many years ago when he had a small model shop in Rugeley. Our paths crossed again when he became a regular supporter and trader at our Stafford Exhibition, even after he ceased to take trade space with us I often had a chat with him at both O Gauge and 0.16.5 narrow gauge events. I many of his kits NG 0.16.5 wagon kits. I think I’m correct in saying that last time I saw Trevor was the 0.16.5 Narrow Gauge Exhibition at Burton on Trent earlier this year. A absolute gentleman RIP Trevor Terry Stafford Railway Circle
  22. Chris - Thank you for your kind words about our exhibition. We have learnt a lot from our 2022 exhibition, and plans are are going very well to build on the success of this year’s exhibition.with our move to Bingley Hall with its much better facilities. It will be even better in 2023 I will keep you all posted. Terry
  23. Plenty of free parking at Stafford (around 2500 vehicles) 23rd & 24th September 2023 ADD THE NEW DATE IN YOUR DIARY See our website for details www.staffordrailwaycircle.org.uk/exhibition
  24. The best way is to try what you have suggested, you could try a light dusting of a matt varnish as option after the acrylic paint has dried. Another option would be a light dusting using thinned enamel paint instead of acrylic paint. As always try it on a old piece of track first. Good luck, let us all know how you go on. Terry
