Despite the cost of living crisis, the external "Christmas Lighting" is already making its presence felt. One wonders.... I agree with Steamport Southport, there aren't many football flags out yet, though when the matches start, it might be a different story. To add to the terror and woe, I hear that Baddile and co may be releasing a rejigged version of "Three Lions"
As for "Bah Humbugs*", I always keep a stock for when alleged carol singers come and whine a few verses of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" through the keyhole. Figgy Pudding? Fat chance!
* They're the ones with latitudenal stripes...

A number of years back, my area was plagued by a load of particularly tuneless carol "singers" - then there seemed to be rather less of them.
I'm not sure why (not that I'm exactly complaining):
- Dodgy renditions of "Silent Night" - followed by people offering to make this happen?
- Repeated invitations to experience the delights of cycling?
- "Friendly benedictions" along the lines of "Piper Oscar" - somewhat similar to the one that starts with "Foxtrot", but with a key difference - whilst I could imagine people wanting these individuals to "go forth", I doubt if too many people would particularly want them to "multiply".
Whatever actually happened, I'm just relieved that things have been slightly quieter around these parts in the last few years.

Why have I now got Corey Taylor's* Xmas song in my head? 🤣
Very sweary, but worth a listen if you can put up with a few swear words.
*Out of Slipknot
One of the none sweary bits, you get the drift....
There ain’t nothing more depressing than a pine tree
Gussied up with candy canes and balls
Those carollers have kept me up for hours
"It’s Merry Christmas" — seeping through my walls

Hey ho!
Off to see Pete Watermans new trainset in Chester Cathedral. It'll be rather nice to see trains running on the day of a national railstrike too...
-
A good day out to Chester, and I enjoyed watching the trains go around. Most reflected the modern railway, though sound fitted Super Ds double heading a lenghy goods train, "Tornado" on a railtour and Thomas with Annie and Clarabel also made appearances.
While I was there, things were a little fraught with some problems in the fiddleyard, shorting the DCC supply and bringing trains to a halt. Another diverting occurrence was Pete Waterman pushing the rear portion of a divided container train along by hand to recouple it!
While not watching the trains, there was an interesting game of "spot the wildlife" for children of all ages, miniature rabbits, swans, a fox, a pheasant and a badger could be located. For railway enthusiasts, there was also a "dalek", which could be seen flashing away in an obscure corner. An ISpy checklist was provided to record sightings. There were also two checklists to identify passing trains. All in all, good efforts to engage visitors.
In addition, Key Publishing have produced a bookazine, describing Pete Watermans layouts, "Leamington Spa", "Making Tracks" and "Making Tracks II". Copies were available at the exhibition.

I'm not watching the footie final in case it jinxes them.....
I have ofthen found that in a sporting competition, the team or participants I favour lose abysmally if I so much as sneak a peek!

It's dawned sunny and clear, it feels warm already.
I think this is IT...

Here, the mornings will start getting later by Thursday, though the evenings won't start getting earlier until next Tuesday. I expect that the effects won't be appreciable until the end of July.
l do know that at present I can see the sunrise and sunset from my north facing bedroom window. Once they vanish around the sides of the house (probably the end of July...) I shall be pleased!

Stewed Rhubarb and Vanilla Ice Cream!

It'll be downhill until the Winter solstice!

I see that the RMweb logo at the top of the page is now saying that this is the "ad version".
Even when logged in...
Is this the top of a slippery slope?

Had to sit through the Eurovision Song Contest this evening...
Best entry was the Moldovan Railway song!!!

Cambridge and Oxford are paddling up the Thames this afternoon.
Hardly worth watching, unless the conditions are likely to swamp at least one boat...

Spring is sprung!
The grass is ris,

I think this answers that question.

Two years since Lockdown started, I've had all three jabs and not been affected. Government starts winding down precautions...

Don't know how I got it, I still wear a facemask when out and about, and I've not been in any entertainment venues. I suppose its as is said, you wear a mask to protect others. Some other ******* with covid decided it was perfectly ok not to take precautions...
The covid guidelines say you're ok if you get two consecutive negative tests after 5 days, they also say that it might be a good idea to isolate for those 5 days, but you can go out if you need to provided you wear a mask... Talk about mixed messages!
Its all going to be fun after 1st April, when lateral flow kits won't be free, no one will buy them and so no one will really know if they have covid. We'll be wallowing around in a pit of infection.
Pah!!!

Nothing to do with railways, or models....
...
I've just discovered that a big toe nail makes a surprisingly effective guitar plectrum, with plenty of attack!!!
I'll just leave that thought here....

Pancake Day too!!!
