  1. Interesting comments Charlie, first I've heard or seen about issues with some of the Prov 156's. I resorted to using a blade as above when the usual strips of card had no effect. I'll be in touch soon about some other QC issues/misssing parts etc Regards Ken
  2. R2804XS 44875 has a V3.5 fitted R2995XS 45010 has a V4.0 fitted Unsure of any other examples. HTH
  3. Reggie Rail 156....finally made a start today on dismantling it to fit some passengers, secondary speakers and also to consider a possible fix for the dummy marker lights. Beware - spent over 2 hours trying to remove the body from just one car ! Once apart, the problem being strips of double sided sticky tape have been used at both ends between bodyshell and chassis edges, and some of the glue used for retaining the windows also appears to have wicked into the body/chassis join line at both ends. The Barbie unit I stripped previously did not have these strips of DST between the body/chassis it came apart easily with no issues. Why fit these strips of DST, the body/chassis fit is fine without them, they just make removing the body a real PITA...if it ain't broke don't fix it !
  4. L/L 47711 AFAIK is coming with square HI headlights ? can anyone link a photo to confirm this as being correct ? AFAIK these were not fitted until repainted into Scot Exec livery.
  5. Here's another clearer photo of the other side....
  6. 32-780Y was a Rails of Sheffield Limited Edition which featured the loco in 90's livery as it was when first re-painted into L/L livery complete with the infamous badly aligned L/L arrows. 32-780RJ is the more modern as preserved version in use with DRS etc.. HTH
  7. Hi Fran Well if your new Deltic sounds as good as this, I'll be delighted with it, and if any better it would be a bonus ! I believe this model has 2 x Loksound 4's and 2 YES 2 x EM2 speakers, really sounds the business. Regards Ken
  8. 24/1 Cab lights. Although fitted, these will not work on DC as supplied because Bachmann fitted the wrong type of blanking plug. They will work if you replace the blanking plug with one that has the 2 little black boxes (diodes) as fitted to DCC ready 37's etc. I've now lubricated the bogie worms/motor bearings (very lightly) removed the caps across the motor wires and adjusted the pick-ups so they now touch the wheel backs at all times, result - it now runs perfectly. Final job is to change over the headcode blinds to domino's. HTH
  9. Cab light LED's are fitted, assume they will only work on DCC ? although yet to try that.
  10. Made a start today in stripping down my 24/1. It wasn't running as well as I'd like and I also wanted to the replace the headcodes with domino's that were very kindly supplied FOC by Phil Bullock. Firstly noticed the bogie drive worms could use some lubricant they looked pretty dry. Also noticed that small caps were fitted across the motor leads, I always remove these (if fitted) when using DCC. Cab light LED's are indeed fitted. Bogies will also require stripping down as the contact strips are not always touching the wheel backs (when the axles are moved side to side.) The speaker housing is tiny, and the full length circuit board does not leave a lot of space for a bigger speaker either. Interesting to compare just how SLW managed to design in space in their type 2's which as we all know sound excellent. Due to the chassis design, the motor is smaller/slimmer than the standard Bachmann fitment. The original 24/25's mostly ran very sweetly straight out of the box, not so my 24/1 example. Hopefully once competed it will run better on DC prior to fitting a decoder.
  11. Looking very good. What did you use for the replacement domino headcodes ? TIA
  12. Phew...thankfully can pass on these, but roll on the 1980's 37/4-5's etc.....
  13. The figures are Bachmann's 00 business men pack (36-040) - some are modified to fit, the hi-vis jacket being painted on, the model also has DCC controlled lighting with front/rear lamps and interior lighting. HTH
  14. Bachmann's L/E 47 461 Charles Rennie Mac has a flush No 1 end with original BB cowls - but these can fetch silly money now...........as already stated 47 835 has a flush No 2 end but with cut away BB's. VI trains and Heljan also produced a few 47's with flushed ends. HTH
  15. Hi Albie Assume this is a 37/0 sound file as the starter motor sounds appear to be missing ? with the vid showing a 37/4 loco..still sounds good though... Ken
  16. Did the lights work when new on DC ? Have you tried re-fitting the DC blanking plug and then checking the lights work.
  17. I'm just curious...how visable is the difference between the single and double riveted roof panels ? On the double version are the extra rivets a row length wise directly above the cant rail rain strip ? And NO I'm NOT a rivet counter !
  18. AFAIK 051 had a Dark Grey/Black roof when in L/L livery .....
  19. These might do ?, the problem being getting it all to fit in the lamp housings, the finer the wires the easier it will be regardless if 0402 or 0603 LED's are used. Ideally LED's pre-wired with very fine copper enamelled magnet wire are the easiest to use. As for the voltage/current etc, most led's can be used, Warm White LED's tend to be very bright, so a suitable value resistor must be used to both protect them and reduce their brightness to acceptable levels. Standard White Led's are too Ice "blue-ish" in light output (like Xenon's) and not suitable to represent early tungsten/halogen bulb fitted lamps.
  20. Hi Rob The brackets allowed the lamps to be mounted/adjusted, but on a model would be awkward to make and would not really be noticeable especially at normal viewing distance with the lamp ON. I just fitted the lamps directly to the noses on 37262/263, - 262 is still work in progress - hence the masking tape - the glazing just refused to come out ! argh.......... HTH Ken
  21. Hi Dave If you post the eBay link for them, I'll have a look......... 0603 SMD's could also be used, but are a pretty tight fit, but at least it's possible to solder wires to them. Regards Ken
  22. DP47-06 is the Sealed Beam type etch - usually but not always fitted at No 2 end. As already mentioned the No 1 end again usually had opaque marker light rings with grommets, but not always.
  23. Hi Andrew Yes perhaps difficult but it's possible to fit working "Car" type spotlights to HJ Class 26's. The main issue is the lack of clearance due to the light guide for the top marker light. The 3 locos in the photo all have full LED replacement lighting, with new LED twin spot lights on 26 035. The spot light housings were made using cut-down/drilled out Peco R15 Nylon ? wagon wheel bearings with slices of Fiber optic cable as lenses (blobs of Araladite as I found out later) being far quicker. They are lit with 0603 SMD Warm White LED's which just fit inside, using 0403 sized LED's would be easier, but extremely difficult to solder, unless sourced pre-wired with very fine magnet wire. The 37 uses a similar arrangement for the spot light wired into the nose circuit boards, or on DCC can be powered via a spare function output for independent control. For more details see my WB thread: The Northern Lights HTH Ken
  24. Any chance of a bundle option being offered for all 4 of these 37/0's ?
