  1. Just a heads up it is the annual Accucraft open day this weekend Saturday 8th June As well as showing their products they will be selling "factory seconds, damaged items and test samples as well as many ‘end of line’ items" There will also be refreshments and other traders such as Swift Sixteen Details on their website: https://www.accucraft.uk.com/2019/05/accucraft-june-news-8/
  2. I don't see a big impact with Revolution trains as I think they have established their reputation for delivering what they promise . They initially worked with an a known manufacturer, communicated effectively and products have been delivered within a reasonable timescale (not really the case with DJM). They were also known and experienced within the hobby I hope it does make people stop and consider the risk before jumping in and supporting new ventures. If a model is announced that is appealing, it should be remembered that it needs more than enthusiasm and positive spin to produce it, it needs a multitude of business skills
  3. This video at 10min 22 ish seems to show some samples at the new Kernow shop
  4. As someone who likes quirky prototypes the GT3 appeals to me but for now I will not be ordering Yet again someone has asked for info about where the models will ship from, not unreasonably as it would make a large difference to the price if people had to pay VAT and a handling charge on top. It is to my mind silly that this question has been answered at least once on this thread but this basic info is not on the website where orders are taken If KR Models wants me to trust them with my money they should be up front about the models basic spec and ordering info. I don't doubt their good intentions, but it implies to me that they are lacking in the commercial acumen necessary to bring the model to fruition
  5. I notice it”s the number 1 most read item on the BBC news website. Perhaps that is helping spread the word and with the donations
  6. Awful to see the damage in the photos linked to above I really hope no one loses out financially. Perhaps a Just Giving type appeal could be started if it becomes apparent people will lose out?
  7. Unfortunately those who invest in Kickstarter projects are not necessarily protected, this is a famous example https://medium.com/kickstarter/how-zano-raised-millions-on-kickstarter-and-left-backers-with-nearly-nothing-85c0abe4a6cb
  8. Yes, not far off Tesla money. Strange thing is that we couldn't have actually order an E-Up!, order book already full and they can't keep up with demand?
  9. Have to agree with this, there is choice if your spending £60K+ but more main stream EV's just do not make finacial sense for the majority. There is also the issue that the current charging network for non Tesla cars is still very slow. Cars like the new Jag & Audi might be capable of fast charging but the infrastructure is not in place. We ordered a new car a few days, we have a large SUV 7 seater already so just wanted a small second car. The cost for us of 3 cars, identical in spec, only differing in badge and EV/petrol: Skoda Citigo petrol - £1600 deposit and £120 a month VW Up! petrol - £1600 deposit and £150 a month VW Up! EV - £7000 deposit and £600 a month I wouldn't touch a hybrid either. My colleagues Honda CRZ is immobile & has been since Christmas. The Honda main dealer can't get it to work.
  10. If I click on your username and click the ‘Albums’ tab there are approx 50 sepatae albums of different photos. Isle of wight, maps etc etc
  11. Goods to see plenty have signed up One though that has occurred to me is whether you could offer access to the digital copies of Garden Railway or Narrow Gauge World magazine instead of BRM. RMWeb has sections for both those topics so they might be more relevant to some and attract addition people to sign up?
  12. Sounds interesting and will definitely sign up Selling a few wagons on Ebay over the last couple of weeks and already I owe £43 in fees. I sold several lots of things with the old ‘buy&sell’ site, both me and the buyer benefited by spliting the saving in selling costs Add to that the access the past magazines and free exhibition ticket and it seems, for me, like a no brainer (Giving a few quid to this site which provides me with so much inspiration & ideas also seems fair?)
  13. As above, my experience from using the track as a child was that it soon deteriorated when exposed to sunlight. You could probably leave it out during winter but it would be best to protect it from the sun when not in use
  14. Nothing new for 009 or large scale (g scale) announced so perhaps consolidation as suggested It”s the 75th anniversary next year of the first books being publish so perhaps there will be some more exciting news in 2020
  15. I think that’s because it’s an entertainment show, not a documentary. (I have heard rumours that there are some Scots who don’t deep fry all their meals!) This link earlier in the thread points out similar inconsistencies in an earlier show http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2017/12/a-forensic-debunking-of-the-grand-tours-trip-to-switzerland/
  16. Have to agree that Wickwar stood out. The sense of depth and the backscene combined to make a really convincing landscape
  17. Yes, there is parking at Stantonbury itself with people to direct to free spaces. If that parking does fill up there are overflow car parks which are 10 minutes walk away, these will be signposted Directions can be found here http://www.mkmrs.org.uk/exhibitions/getting-here/#squelch-taas-accordion-shortcode-content-1
  18. Kernow are quoting an RRP on the new 66's of £144.95 (selling at £123.21) http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/63356/32-740-Bachmann-Class-66-7-66789-British-Rail-1948-1997-GBRf
  19. Another stupid driver on this youtube video - clip starts at 1min 50sec
  20. I'm not sure that there is a problem with Kader not wanting to support the UK arm Bachmann seemed to be making good progress last year which many announced models progressing (and a good number of new items being shipped). They did however explain that they suffered a setback - explained here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/138683-Bachmann-explain-unforeseen-delay-issue/ Perhaps therefore Kader may have been unable to have supported the UK arm in recent months as much as it would have liked to, but it would appear that once new factories are fully commisioned they should be in a good position once again for progress to increase For me Bachmann have always produced models to an excellent standard with good paintwork, details which don't fall off and which work! They have also branched out into other areas that interest me such as the 009 range. That's why I always take notice of any announcement they make. I don't think their announcements will be extensive, simply because of the position they have been in, but hopefully there will be one or two things that they have perhaps been working away at already
  21. Interesting development, they look very nice with more new versions will be available later in the year. Will be interesting to see whether they have got the tooling to do Isle of Wight versions
  22. The full article is here, not sure why Kernow would object? https://www.hattons.co.uk/NewsDetail.aspx?id=417&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=TwitterHatBlog_SB_November18ModelNewsRoundUp
  23. That's not a hint is it? https://www.flickr.com/photos/manofyorkshire/8967412412
  24. Sub copy arrived today and the first flick through revealed several interesting articles, the dry stone wall article shows a technique completely new to me (it already has me thinking about using it) One thing I did notice was Simon Bendall reviewing the Heljan class 25. Someone who I have a huge respect for and good to see him reviewing with the existing strong team.
  25. Congratulations to both Though thinking about it Dennis used to complain about the commute to Bachmann......................
