Hi. You scanned us last autumn 2017 at the Great Electric Train Show at the car museum (I think we were the first group you did) This included our teenage daughter who was siting looking at her phone. We would be more than happy for you to use that?

I ran an MG ZTT cdti from new up to 100K miles and was totally reliable (only changes it because I got a cheap ZT260 after they went bust) The BMW engines got a bad reputation because the swirl flaps in the inlet manifold would disintegrate with the parts getting drawn into the engine causing serious damage. They are not fitted in the Rover / MG engines https://forums.mg-rover.org/mg-zt-rover-75-sponsored-rimmer-bros-90/cdt-cdti-swirl-flaps-475976/

There seem to be a few threads dealing with Olivia's and their models, this being an example http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/121368-olivias-trains-boc-vba-and-cryogenics-tea/page-4&do=findComment&comment=3202227

Was the payment through Paypal done as a gift or were you sent an invoice for the model which you then paid?

Great Model Railway Challenge - Channel 5
Ryde-on-time replied to Andy Y's topic in Great Model Railway Challenge - Channel 5
Strange. The program aired at 8pm Friday and I watched it at 9pm Friday on My5 catchup TV -
Nor me, I'm a happy paper copy subscriber. I think it would be strange if the magazine did not try and evolve, trying different things along the way I am, however, in the position where in a couple of months I can choose whether to continue subscribing to the paper copy or I could change to the digital version. Therefore the feedback about plans for the next few months, while not set in stone, are still appreciated

Might just about fit in the hall at Warley (although I don't quite think my modelling is up to being shown there) Would probably also need a van just for the drain pipe I would need to cobble together to support it? -

I had thoughts about using Corgi 1:72 Vulcan but think the weight might be a problem? That and making it travel across the 10 foot layout at an appropriate speed? -

I enjoyed the show (as did the wife) and thought the best team won, the Strangers layout at least appeared finished and they did the best modelling during the 3 days, the trains looked appropriate too I thought it a shame that the Missenden team did not come up with some more imaginative animations relating the the Lady Killers film - a signal knocking someone into a wagon and someone falling off the roof of the house with the chimney There seems to be talk of having celebrities on the show but I liked the team of judges/presenters they had, it's worth remembering that Paul Hollywood had only appeared on TV once or twice before he started presenting TGBBO -
Yes, I get e-mails every day They always start : Dear Costumer............

Any indication on what different types they intend making?

As per the comments of many others here I found it enjoyable and entertaining Not sure if I missed it but was wondering how the members of the winning team met (as they were strangers)? -
One aspect of shops and pricing which I have not seen discussed on this thread, and which I think increases the requests for a discount, is where shops have an online price and much higher in-store price (Often RRP). There are large companies such as Richer Sounds who operate a similar policy, but they make it clear (and hence there is no awkwardness) that if you visit a shop and know there is a cheaper online price for a product, you can ask for the cheaper price and they will honor it We were passing a model shop where I had seen a loco advertised for ~£130 including packaging and postage. In-store the shop the loco was priced at ~£150. No mention on the website that they would honor the lower price instore if asked. What does one do in such a situation? - ask for a discount which a fair few on this thread seem to see as rude, go back home and buy online (where the retailer would need to shell out for packaging and postage) or just buy elsewhere (which is what I did outside the shop on my phone, buying from a large shop I have an account with, while waiting for the wife)

A lot of second hand OO kits being listed on Hattons today which seem at good prices. Tracks to the Trenches 2016 & 2018
Ryde-on-time replied to defiant1uk's topic in Narrow Gauge Modelling
Just a heads up that the 2018 event takes place in a couple of weeks on Friday 13th to Sunday 15th July. Details can be found here http://www.ww1-event.org Was a shame it didn’t make the Ffestiniog Hunslet 125 event last weekend but it looks like TTTT will see the debut of War Department Hunslet No 303. Really enjoyed it 2 years ago and well worth a visit. -
If that it really the case then buy and insure in your name with him as a named driver As others have said though insurance companies do get suspicious of 'fronting' so would be worth keeping a record of who drives when and how far, just so you have evidence in the future that you insured it correctly

Heljan announces the development of a Class 50
Ryde-on-time replied to MGR Hooper!'s topic in Heljan
Perhaps people like me have little faith as Heljan have a habit of giving such statements and then going on to produce deformed models seemingly unchanged? With such a reputation and history why would people have any faith in Heljan actually correcting the cab on the 50? Added to that, the Heljan model has put a stop to a competitors model seen as having a greater potential for accuracy If a miracle does occur and the Heljan class 50 front end is correct I for one will be happy to congratulate and praise them (and buy one). -
I think there's a massive difference between Warners putting on a show clearly in their own name (but with the help and benefit of clubs such as 'The Model Railway Club' who help with Ally Pally) and Dekota who also puts on shows for profit but pretends to be a model railway club and hides behind false club names? I think those on here just want Dekota to be up front, truthful and provide the info on promotional material that he should. My own feeling is that by doing so he could be much more successful. He could for instance develop things so that he helped clubs who feel they are unable to put on their own show themselves to put on a show so both benefit?

Perhaps the people who own the venues where his events are being held should be contacted ?
