I realised years ago that in my hands an airbrush is simply an expensive tool used to ruin a good model.  Latest episode was last Wednesday.  Still havent recovered from the trauma.

I was modelling out in the sunshine today and dropped a brass ladder which I was attemptint to glue to a tank wagon.    Hunted for it for a long time and eventually gave up.  Found it much later superglued to the underside of my shoe!

  2. Hey, Bachmann, if the Grainflows are too expensive to assemble and be viable for you; how about doing them CKD-style for those of us happy to assemble them ourselves?

  4. Just ruminating, but would knocking out the gears to the 1st and second axles on a DJM Austerity remove the cogging issue by letting one axle and the rods do all the work?

@skipepsi They run fine with no motor or worm attached. It’s not the rods, it’s backlash within the gear train when the motor and worm are in position. EFE have changed the motor which may have resolved the issue with the new releases.

PMP.  I used a Mashima 1628 (discontinued long before Mashima ceased trading) and a gearbox that High Level designed specifically to go with that motor but was very similar in appearance to a Roadrunner+.

  7. DVLA; 6 months I've been waiting for my renewed licence. Can't even update my address details despite having moved home.

Bizarre.  Am 73 in Nov and had 'invite' to renew licence just before Bank Hols.  Request submitted online Tue 24Aug.  I was worried how long it would take due to publicity about backlogs at DVLA.  Licence arrived Bank Hol Sat 28Aug.  As an aside, they ask you to cut up old licence and send it off.  There's no way they could have received it and cross-checked it against new licence as new one was in my hands before old one got to Swansea.

      cheesysmith

Anything that requires the DVLA to actually make a decision is a joke. The DVLA is just there to take money off people. Look at photocard driving license. They said it would be free, and it is, but they charge you for the renewals. There are lots of PCV/HGV drivers waiting on them, but the Government has made sure that the DVLA cannot be liable for loss of earnings. No private company would get away with it.

Ironically, the licence arrived the day after I posted this. Now I need to change the address details!

I still appear to have a previous one around. I may send this and hope they don't notice as I'm not going through that faff again. Mainly because I need to regularly present it at work!

Och, I took my friends pup for a long walk on Sunday, Kelvinbridge to Dawsholm park, lots of CR and NB history along the Kelvin valley .(really , the NB viaduct arches are scottish bond brickwork ) Heron seen at the botanics stretch. A few trout rising on the Kirklee to Maryhill stretch, maybe I'll renew my ticket and put a dry fly over the water.... A river coming back to life.

Yep, according to the good old Wikipedia entry for the song, "The song's theme is taken from the Spanish Civil War, and the idealism of Welsh volunteers who joined the left-wing International Brigades fighting for the Spanish Republic against Francisco Franco's military rebels. The song takes its name from a Republican poster of the time, displaying a photograph of a young child killed by the Nationalists under a sky of bombers with the stark warning "If you tolerate this, you...
