Ironic that a train cast aside and branded a failure should hold the record for so long....and continue to do so. Who would have bet on that in 1985?

Personally i was very disappointed that the supply problems in the model railway industry didnt feature more prominently in thr recent G7 talks. All this guff about corona this and climate that..... i want my deltics! -

Im probably one of a very few people relieved the 37s are delayed til next year. In the next 6 months i have 2x deltics, 2x slw 25s, a full APT, 18 mgrs, and some mcv's, to pay for and funds would be very tight if the 37s were due too. At least this way we wont be having roast sparrow for xmas dinner. -

No, im being firm with myself, i only check every odd numbered hour, this is my 1700 hour check. I'll be back again in 96 minutes. -
Considering Heljan are designing a brand new model from the wheels up and Bachmann was a very limited upgrade, (and the sealed beam end was already tooled some years ago) they were bound to be quicker to market than Heljan.

Cant understand why people expect a 56 to follow. Despite the real world link, in model form these are very diffrrent beasts, cabs, roof, underframe tanks and body sides all very different. Only the bogie sides are common and the internals.

Totally different situation. On one hand making a model to broadly represent many similar types that arent available at all, and being acceptible to many modellers because nothing more accurate exists in the market, versus having a fairly wild stab in the dark at trains that never existed other than in vague plans. After all, who knows what they would have looked like? You cant take it as read than the squadron trains would be simply the same coaches marshalled in a different order, that was only true of the Q train and even that had a DVT that was, at least to my knowledge, never actually designed. I cant imagine that there would be anything approaching enough people interested in spending big bucks on a fictional train. After all how would we know what the true number of rivets to count was?

If you were starting a new rtr manufacturer...
The Ghost of IKB replied to Joseph_Pestell's topic in Smaller Suppliers
Just for the record, if ihad a couple of million to drop into a new rtr company and wasnt bothered about getting a return Id launch "Great British Trains" all stock would be p4 as supplied, but easily modified to oo, each item comes complete with a 12 inch piece of p4 flexi track, on which to display the model or hopefully to inspire gauge changing. A range of 3 feet radius points, 3 feet radius set track curves and straights in 6, 12, 24 inch lengths available all in p4. Locos: a class 40 all three nose styles, a class 83, a class 84, a class 06, steam: a gwr collett goods, a LNWR Cauliflower and LNWR claughton. Coaches, Lnwr bogie coaches, 4 designs, and mk 2b range. DMU EMU: class 120 3 car, class 303 Everything with more detail than uou could shake a stick at. And a big hole in my fictional bank balance. -

Unless ive misunderstood, the range youve picked out is almost entirely a copy of Hornby railroad. As they are the dominant brand i doubt youd make much headway. Accurascales business model looks far more robust offering models that either havent been done or were in need of modernising, with lots of detail at competitive cost. Any new entrant would need to offer something new rather than duplicate whats already there. Hence i think your imagined company will struggle to off load yet more 66s 37s 47s (all done to death) and mark 1s, unless of course you sell at 1978 prices, in which case where do i place my order for a £5 class 31 please? -

Website shows 25324 is now sold out. Best be quick if your sitting on the fence. Otherwise radio silence maintained since march 30th. I was hoping for some more pre production photos by now.
