  1. If your'e not in a rush give me a day or two and I'll Pmail you. Rich.
  2. I lifted the following from the club's FB page as I can't find anything about it on RMWeb. Address isCleveland Model Railway Club, Unit 2, The BHive Centre, I'll be there hobbling about on my two sticks! Skelton Industrial Estate, Skelton, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, TS12 2LQ Cleveland Model Railway Club will be having our Annual spring open day on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May from 10.00 to 16.00. These are smaller more relaxed events to our main shows where you can see a selection of our layout in operation and under construction. There is also a chance to chat with club members and find out what we do and what we have to offer. As usual there will be a small selection of traders present along with our club sales stand with a fine collection of pre owned items as well as some light refreshments available to purchase. We have also held the costs again this year at the previous levels of £1 for adults and 50p for children over 5 years old, this gives you a one day membership of the club.
  3. Thank you for the vid link. Spot on. This crossing had wheels in a previous incarnation. Unfortunately I'm not sure if it was a sliding version. It certainly had wheels when it was a swing gates as I recall the motors were mounted on the gates above the wheels. PS the site of the multi story car park ( right side , across the railway) was once occupied by the goods shed and sidings, coal office and the Pig and Whistle, the finest boozer in town. Knocked down so that Morrisons could have a bigger car park. Shame. Rich.
  4. Ahhh. Apologies. That's me defaulting into Teesside Speak. Our old barriers were of the type that either closed to Rail or Road by swinging across on a pivot. They were replaced with the current barriers which only close the road. When the barriers are being retracted to open to road traffic they give the impression of sliding or gliding across the road. Rich
  5. Hmm. There's lots of ''chat'' on the local FB pages. I've lived in the area for 65 years and know the crossing well. Not so very long back( couple of months?) the road was closed for a week or so to install new equipment at the crossing. Eyewitness 'opinions' are that the red lights were flashing but the gates didn't slide across to close. The passenger train that collided with the car would have been slowing down to stop at Redcar Central Station (yes we've got two!) If this had been a Boulby Potash train going at some 'lick' through the crossing I fear that the outcome would have been tragic. Rich
  6. https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside-news/live-crash-redcar-level-crossing-29091392 This just happened this morning. Not entirely sure that it's correct for this thread. The ''word'' is that the barriers, which slide across the road, were open to road traffic. Nobody hurt . Rich.
  7. Sent you a pmail. Regards, Rich
  8. They sure do, also the discolouration on the rods and waggly bits. Inside the cab is a transfer saying it's a 501 type. I'm no expert on Hornby 0 gauge but I do own the ''Bible'' on the system by C and J Graebe. A quick look on page 119 reveals that Hornby called this clockwork version 501 ''after the war'' also it wasn't in the catalogue until September 1948. Not 1928 as claimed then is it. Just saying like. Regards Rich.
  9. Here's a couple of bargains for any Triang fans looking for spare Brake Van Bodies. Item 1. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276390468755 Item 2. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276390468712 TBH the Triang shorty body does look cute fixed on top of an old HD SWB wagon chassis and painted up in NCB livery. Seller asking just under £11 each inc P&P. Mine cost 10p each table top sale. Time for my medication. Cheers again. Rich
  10. Same seller has these listed https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305368732526?itmmeta=01HT5PY9D483F752B0DC0FS1T4&hash=item471965136e:g:3W8AAOSw-BllsRbB We all may know that good quality Wrenn material has some serious collectors prepared to pay good money. However-------The AI blah blah for this lot says '' have been professionally upgraded with rare and expertly detailed features such as very precise and detailed rusting over the carrigies to give them a more authentic and real look'' Apart from the ''El Diablo'' AI machine apparently having trouble with the spelling of carriages I think ''carelessly devalued '' is a more fitting description. Some on here may remember my tale of my old friend who made his living buying selling vintage 45 and 78 rpm vinyl and shellac blues, jazz and soul records. His grading system was pretty normal Mint, Ex, Vg Poor etc. His unique bottom grade was POBAC. (previously owned by a cretin) Nuff said. Cheers, Rich
  11. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/296322575281 Whilst I'm here I'd just like to share this with you. A rare opportunity to purchase a much sought after model of the elusive LMS N2 0-6-2. ''Stunning detail'' ---- evidently. (Not really) a bargain at £60. PS seller has lots more like this. Cheers, Rich
  12. Yes Indeed!. I have a vague memory of having a set of these when I was aged 5 or 6. Even at that age I thought they looked weird. Having consulted with my 93 year old mother she reckons I got into bother when I buried them in the back garden.! Cheers, Rich
  13. Hi @SR71 Lovely neat pickup there. Is it for your 4-4-2T project? May I ask what you used for the domes at each end.? They seem to be a bit smaller and neater than the drawing pins I use. Thanks, Regards, Rich.
  14. It might end up for sale again by friend Gostude, only with a 1 in front of what you got.😉 Joking apart. It's a long time since I sold on ebay, 9 or 10 years. A couple of buyers really put me off selling again. Worst was a French bloke. I'd estimated the postage and unintentionally overcharged him. Without being asked, I refunded him a few quid postage as soon as I got back from the PO and dropped him a message to say so (in English). My reward for my honesty was a big red one coupled with a verbal blasting (in perfect English) saying I had demanded extra postage!! Deffo the wrong end of the stick I think. Hope this works out OK for you Captain, Regards, Rich
  15. Your right there. Certainly would need the grandbairns stood at the corners as 'catchers' ☺️ Cheers, Rich
  16. I've noticed that spare tenders for the old Dublo A4s ( and other locos) are sometimes fetching what can only be called bonkers prices. I suspect that this creation was born from desperation. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305435066509?
  17. Hi, sorry but I don't have a drawing and all my C20s are Dublo 3R, but there are a couple of YT vids that may be of help. This first one cover the C20 at about 12 mins in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2jpmQPOkq4 This 2nd one covers the Brighton Belle which used a similar motor/chassis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BLS_lj22Jg&t=487s Hope these may be of help, Regards, Rich
  18. Hi Captain. I'm pretty sure I've a couple of those with the ''green'' looking plastic. I'd always put it down to grubby fingers but having seen yours now I'm not so sure. When I get a minute I'll dig them out. Looking closely at your picture the 'slot in' cabin door/ends seem to be in the lighter grey material or is it my ageing eyesight playing tricks? Regards, Rich
  19. Had me beat too. Intrigued I did a quick google and found that Our Late Majesty first met Phil in 1934. She was 8 he was 13. Didn't look any further. Cheers, Rich
  20. I will struggle to sleep tonight having seen those 😂 PS Did you manage to find a front pony and tender draw bar for your 8f? Cheers, Rich
  21. https://www.davidduggleby.com/auctions/23092021948/0/4203/4203.aspx Whoops. I forgot to add this link last night. September 2021 a large collection was auctioned off in Scarborough. A fab boxed, complete,48094 8f with all the trimmings went for £200 plus 20% commission. UK P&P £28.98 plus £10.08 per additional lot. !!!!!! Regards, Rich.
  22. Hi I've a stash of old S/H Airfix kits . Last night I stripped a couple off using my 'go to' cheapo £2.75 drain cleaner caustic crystals. Just a couple of capfulls in the tray of warm water. I suspect it was enamel paint and that it was quite a few years old. The paint came off in less than 15 mins. I've used this method for years on everything from Dublo diecast locos to Triang plastic stuff with few problems. Occasionally I come across a paint that won't shift, I then resort to olde fashioned brown Dettol Regards, Rich
  23. Yes it is a bit bonkers. I may be wrong but I think this is a case of ''box madness'' The box is for 8f 48094 which hit the shelves in Dec.1961. It was the final (limited) production and as such is as rare as Ludlow Castle, possibly more so. The starting price was a very sporting tenner but looking at the bidding history it appears that a few folks got a bit excited. Quickly looking at the contents I've seen 3R tenders go for £30 plus.(equally daft) A certain person is selling just the tender draw bars for £8.00 !!!!!. Hard to say re the motor parts as seller hasn't checked the comms for continuity or resistance so best consider the motor scrap. The price of chassis is a bit up and down but I'll own up to shelling out £35.00 for a pair of rather nice motorless 8f chassis to get a couple of scrappers rolling again but I've seen them go for more. (Personally I only buy old manky scrap/wrecks as I get my fun from rebuilding and getting stuff running again) Maybe some trader has a boxless 48094 and thinks he's on a winner? I just hope the box isn't a repro.🙃 Cheers, Rich
  24. Hi. I'm sorry but the HD A4 chassis won't fit. HD used the same upright,'' integral'' motor for both the 2 and 3 rail versions The pole pieces that wrap round the armature won't fit in the boiler of the K3 and the magnet will protrude into the tender! I've attached a picture of an old K3 kit sitting on a Triang 2-6-2 chassis compared to a HD A4 chassis. Regards, Rich
  25. Hi @cypherman I'm on with doing up a couple of scrappy old HD 8f locos. A previous owner had treated them to LMS and LNER transfers. Luckily they hadn't been sealed or varnished over so they came off with nothing more than rubbing with a wet thumb. A couple of stubborn areas came off with a toothpick or thumbnail. I've also had reasonable results with those fibre abrasive pens. Cheers, Rich
