  1. https://www.elaines-trains.co.uk/index.php?pg=w Hi Ged, there seems to be 3 or 4 16t minerals at Elaines Trains (unless I've got it wrong) link above I have over 30 of the old Dublo 3 rail cast minerals and could certainly spare a few but I doubt that's what you're after Hope this helps, Regards, Rich
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pquYCNKQy70 I've no idea who built them but they are loverly! I suspect the builder was heavily influenced by the brilliant efforts of Mike Sharman. (see you tube link above) There's a thread about his work on RMweb . In the second post Devo63 mentions his efforts along similar lines. Great stuff, thanks for sharing, regards, Rich
  3. Evening all. Spotted this afternoon. Sign in charity shop door. Guisborough North Yorks. Me and the missus just burst out laughing. Luckily the shop is open 7 days a week so you will only have to ''sit tight'' until it opens in the morning. Cheers, Rich
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c8P592ENCc Hi. An interesting youtube vid link above. DCC 3 rail Dublo in what looks a bit like a wine cellar! Regards, Rich
  5. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305073974930?hash=item4707d36e92:g:EzQAAOSwF~Bk4glY&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwABqSVACR%2BfBE1eH5LGZ7qfAua%2F%2FEP8i23zxOxM%2Bp2UyipZBjBNDUBGc8%2B%2B3Y35lh7EJpvjz6qbGBgYgdTRUf0K9xjAjLoKh5LqjJd8Oqyrj%2FBRZBf3vfZpkYxRcw6MpQwqdfeatoO0n4AkXsMIyP1occROmoUiJHwXgtkJ52Q8c2jK1uhYETI5f9YH2F2Qw77jd%2F0qj4sT2A2WXVtRKsjN8xdTCDqujcC5Go5xVQBs5yCu1BA0AghIom%2F%2FH240GjA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR87MnIfdYg Errm Apart from the rather ambitious asking price, what's going on with the cabside numbers? Check out the last picture. Regards Rich
  6. Yes .Agreed. The headboard had me scratching my head. I remembered this interesting article on what used to be called the SEMGO site. https://sremg.org.uk/misc/nferry.shtml#:~:text=The Night Ferry photographed passing,class4-4-0. Top picture shows an L1 double heading a D1 on the Night Ferry pre WW2. I've a stash of those old Jouef CIWL carriages and also a few old Triang L1s so I'm now getting one of my barmy ideas of a ''poor mans'' Night Ferry'' for a winter project. (There's plenty of room underneath the Triang L1 for a Marklin 3rd rail pickup skate!) (😂Clearly the difference in scale between Triang and Jouef doesn't bother me too much🤣) Time for my tablets I think. Regards . Rich
  7. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266433331562?hash=item3e08aa016a:g:hfkAAOSwPLNlGB4a&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4H2sZDJoKhvDSwCmcsGmnhDcahjN%2F9Y307mgjLvF5GI1t4LCvtazY8RtxkCNwdlIm6oYyM9uTzqIL4zcV76%2FLZUzSzHBCfjIBMD2JEhIM56F%2FCqUJ%2Bnqilhb%2Fql7m%2FPGOQVg2dIXodvNHEkR9rlNdwuKHArrxG6k0XDDOqzqJkda8yYPmex8%2FV9B6wtl77PFNjqqA%2BNWA4R8kb%2FZPJlV1SLZteIc6UPEkprYOpAxD9CGP1GQBYqQc7nnU17En88%2Fvi%2Fyb8EKp5tbf9SDOQCjlGjaWxrkJopz4nQtkb%2FgrAan|tkp%3ABk9SR4LF8vrcYg This is described as in ''excellent super detailed condition'' and ''lightly weathered'' Might be me just getting on in years but I think covered in dust is more like it. 75 beer tokens start plus 5 more P&P? Bit steep mate. Regards all, Rich
  8. No, nor me. If some saw my collection of old 3 rail rusty, tatty, junk they'd collapse into fits of laughter. (or perhaps suggest that I be certified)😂 Cheers, Rich
  9. I'd have thought that the TTCA would be looking for the vendor of the metallic-painted monstrosities! http://www.tri-angtt.org.uk/sett48.htm Greetings all. This set is metal plated not painted. Only 300 made for the Kay's Catalogue Company just before one christmas in the early 1960s. I've a vague memory of an article years ago explaining how the plastic moulded bodies were dunked into an electroless copper solution, then electroplated with acid copper, then finally flash plated with precious metal. Being a short run of only 300 sets I suppose it ranks high in rarity value. I spent a fair old few years manufacturing unpopulated 'bare' printed circuit boards and wonder as to the integity of the plating after all these years. The bidding has a way to go yet but I wouldn't be at all surprised at north of £400. Just as Sjcm says the popcorn is out at Tintracks Towers😉 Cheers All. Rich PS somebody has tipped off the vendor what it is as they've added a footnote to the listing
  10. https://www.fox-transfers.co.uk/transfers?scale=2235&transfer_company=2678 Hi David. The above link should take you to the Fox transfers range of transfers for GER locos. I've a (very) vague memory of Blackham Transfers once doing a range for the GER. Maybe If you contact the GER association they may be able to help. Sorry I can't be more helpful, Don't give up. Regards, Rich
  11. The pigeon or the loco?

The above link should take you to a recently sold R45 turntable (on ebay) On ebay if you click on ''advanced'' at the top right side of the page you will be able to select sold or completed items to check out what stuff did, or didn't, sell for. There are a few more sold examples on ebay. Yours looks to be in very good condition and I suspect that there won't be many around like this. Hope this helps, Regards, Rich
  13. Many moons ago when I was a very young apprentice tailor it was the custom to torment the new starters by sending them to the stores department for a bucket of steam or a reel of tartan thread. Regards, Rich
  14. Love that rusty look mate. Fab stuff. Regards, Rich
  15. As a young bairn aged about 8 or 9 the underneath of my little brother's Pedigree pram became ............. Darlington Bank Top !! It was of course Dublo 3 rail loose layed on the floor with cornflakes box card and balsa platforms and buildings. Happy Days Regards, Rich
  16. Very Good But I prefer the Tom Waits version. 😁
  17. https://www.hattons.co.uk/752094/mehano_t244_1loco_0_4_0_diesel_shunter_of_the_sncf_in_green_separated_from_train_set/stockdetail# A Ha! By gum I think your'e right!! I wonder if Lima and Mehano were in to swapping moulds about. Somwhere I've a few of the Lima bodies having robbed them of motors and chassis. When I get a minute I'll compare them to Hattons item ( above). Just got back from the Cleveland Model Railway Club show at Redcar Tech so I'm droolin'over me swag. Cheers, Rich
  18. Agreed about the roof, but how about fully lined out in Darlington Green ? ( only joking) Regards, Rich
  19. Hi. It's a cheapo Lima diesel shunter that's been got at. In the dim distant past I've butchered a few of these into 0n16.5 (7mm narrow gauge) freelance locos. Regards, Rich
  20. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283777461818?hash=item4212746e3a:g:UH4AAOSwo5Zh3i6O Hi Ged, Lovely job mate. The above link is for an ebay seller called Silver Tay Models (or similar) He has a Goliath plate but I think it's a cuved one. The link should take you to his fictional/ J94 nameplates selection which is worth a quick look. I've used his stuff for ficticious Dublo A4 and Duchess nameplates. Nice product and ballistically speedy service. Just wondering how your'e getting on with your 4mt/9f hybrid? Did you manage to lower the body? I've got all the ingredients for my Bertha mutation that I mentioned and comparing it to an old RM drawing it will work ( ie it's close enough for me). Cheers, Rich
  21. You're dead right mate. I love to see this kind of old school modelling. I've put the whole lot on my watch list and wouldn't mind buying two or three if they don't get too spendy. Great credit to the seller, all 0.99p starting price. Cheers, Rich.
  22. Looks like two Hornby Gresley Brake 3rds ( or whatever) cut in half and re joined to make a full brake. This has just reminded me that I have a stash of old Triang Thompsons Brake 3rds waiting for a similar treatment. Maybe it's finished in Engineer's Olive to go with a brake down crane rake? Cheers Rich
  23. Hi. I spotted this item last night but was stuck for time so just added it to my watch list. Without looking at it too hard I just assumed that it was a motorised GBL static model. I've just about finished one myself and have 2 more to do so was interested (nosey) to see others take on the project. In the light of day I've just had another look and I think it's deffo a bitsa this n that as you say. Cheers, Rich
  24. Likewise the Ripon Canal in N.Yorks. Back in my boating days I was amazed to see how clear the water was between Ripon Boat Club Marina and Oxclose Lock where access was gained to the River Ure. Especially at times of low water,( usually when some scally had opened the paddles at Oxclose and deliberately drained the canal overnight), it was possible to make out rocks, vegitation even the odd fish swimming about. Granted the canal had not had any commercial traffic for many decades. Regards, Rich
  25. Possibly. Regarding the Ebay figures we may also be looking at chinese knock off copies of Preiser originals. A long while ago I was lucky enough to obtain a large amount of Preiser seated figures, very useful for populating carriages. I've also been given some of the chinese copies. These copies always appear to be skinny and lacking in facial definition. Regards, Rich
