Are you sure it's not a clever fake?

I've had a look at all my Hornby locos with that type of packaging (about 20) and the barcode is pin sharp, not fuzzy also the loco number does not stand out from the background and is not pock marked.

The card inlay showing it as a BR green Quicksilver super detail and DCC ready loco is an actual Hornby one, so it must have come from Hornby as just a loco in a box.

was the R1136 set with a DCC ready super detail loco or not? If not then this isn’t unsold stock from Hornby made for that.

Jenny, the pictures appear to be of a Bachmann product rather than one produced by Hornby. Beware!

This is an interesting one, lots of people expecting an Accurascale class 40 and to be honest I half expect one at some point, it's and EE machine, it hauled coal trains and lots of variations.

But we have the KR Model still at EOI and Key Publishing are now doing 40145 with Bachmann.

Like BRM I would expect that Key have their ears attuned to whatever whisperings come from manufacturers, so if there was an Accurascale model about to launched then I would expect they'd partner up with them over an older Bachmann model version.  That wouldn't be a preference matter, it would be simple economics, if Accurascale do a class 40 it will be the model where modellers would be expecting specials to come from and not from an older tooling.

So I don't think there is an imminent Accurascale one, I bet it's the class 20 next on their radar.

Edit: of course there could be a new Bachmann 40 about to drop and the image for Key is just a livery EP.  The description for this loco is Plux22 DCC - the Green Adania due in July said 21 pin - so there is some form of upgrade in this Key model.

So I don't think there is an imminent Accurascale one, I bet it's the class 20 next on their radar.

Bachmann have recently retooled the Class 20 and I doubt very much that this could be improved on.

It's a fine model In all respects!

Accurascale were kind enough to send me one of the sound fitted production samples to have a play with so I've put together a review video for anyone who might be interested:

    Close Up shots at 02:44

    Lighting demo at 09:28

Sound & Stay Alive demo at 11:00

and Running Session (without commentary) at 12:46

Quick disclaimer: As it was a production sample you might notice a few bumps from where it's gone through testing. Also, I obviously haven't paid for this model myself like I do with my usual review videos so take that into consideration. That said I've still been as honest as I can about the model and Accurascale had no editorial control over the video.

    Enjoy 😃

    An excellent presentation, many thanks.

I'm really looking forward to my BR Green twin headbox 6704 turning up!

Well I looked, and scrolled down .  And yet again I realised just how much I miss the original 'proper job' version of 'The Engine Shed.'as it sinks ever further into a morass of PR blather instead of solid information and the occasional teaser.

It's never been the same since Paul Isles left for Accurascale!

    You must be joking.🤣😆😆🤣

Oh I don't know, they've actually been pretty good over the years.

An example of this being the mazak rot on the 31's.

They were still offering a new chassis, or if the rot was terminal, a £100 Hornby voucher for old models for what seemed an enternity!

  6. Just received my SNG this afternoon and Wow what a model!

Runs smoothly straight out of the box, no damage, flaws in the paint work or bits falling off.

Additionally, the packaging is so much better than before.

I must say I approve of the BR Brunswick green, new close coupled tender drawbar, flickering firebox and the painted crew in the accessory pack.

I can now confidently look forward to Union of SA and Dwight D Eisenhower arriving.

Well done Hornby on a marvelous model, please keep it up!

That of course opens up the question of which ones ...

Whilst we all have our personal favourites, I would suggest you continue to concentrate on locos built in reasonable numbers which spanned the period pre-group through to BR, rotating releases through the Big Four, so next one LMS, perhaps something like a MR Johson 2F, then SR etc.

If it's an LMS loco, one that's sure to fly of the shelves is a Stanier 8F!

hmmm certainly it’s the one that stands out , but is the Bachmann one that bad ?

Apart from the window frames, overscale bogie attachments and bogie ride height.

I'm aware that KR models are doing a brand new version, but I'd rather it was Accurascale!

A bit like the British market then

    Class 37 ....done

    Class 56....done

    Class 60....done

    Class 66....done

Class 69../.done, allegedly . Only seen an announcement

    Class 70....done

All the above done or being done to latest standards . So not a hell of a lot else to go at . Time for some MUs I think

    Or a Class 40 Russell? 😊

R30112 35026 Lamport & Holt Line is available now. Hornby have said that demand is incredibly high and stock is limited. If demand is incredibly high why is Hornby limiting the numbers to 500 and why are some retailers discounting the models to £288.99 when the recommended retail price is £320.99? I would be interested to read some reviews of this model and to see how it compares with the Wrenn airsmoothed West Country class locomotives.

The previous HD Airsmooth Merchant Navy class variants of General Steam Navigation and Elder Fyfes were excellent models.

As for the discount, this is the maximum permitted percentage of 10% as allowed by Hornby for new releases.

IMO, you really can't compare these beauties with the inaccurate Wrenn Railways offering, which are now 40+ years old.

I have no reason to suspect that Lamport and Holt line will be any different!

I've just had a look at this chaps e bay listings. I did notice that he does seem to have an excellent feedback history with many positive comments re delivery times and quality etc. (apart from two negatives)  No connection with me at all, ever at all. Just pointing it out.

     Regards, Rich

Considering he's only been trading in this company name since the 13th of January this year, over 2700 reviews seems somewhat suspicious.

N.B. Canns models also had good reviews prior to going rogue!

  12. If anyone is thinking of bidding/buying items from this trader beware, as he is the former owner of Canns models of Okehampton, one Adam Cann.

He has reincarnated this company under the name of hobbyshop22ltd.

People ordered items online which never arrived, no response for refunds etc.

I thought a Black 5 too …. But could be a complete red herring for the new model which could be summat else entirely… and the type 5 is another Deltic in the next batch 😀

An Accurascale Black 5 ready for the market before the Hornby variant (Winter 24/25) would really bring the pains on at Margate Phil!
