I hope you are right, but I am afraid I had to order from elsewhere to obtain what I wanted.

Tried that one - no reply. Tried the other again - no reply. Emailed to the new address per their advert in BRM (www.sefinecast.co.uk) - surprise, surprise - no reply. I am trying to get them to sell me something, but I fear I may have to look elsewhere. Sorry.

And the "forties" are back........

email received from Hattons explaining it was an error and should have been their pre-owned listings email! So all OK and nothing to worry about!

Anyone having problems contacting , what I presume, is the new SE Finecast? I have called on the number listed on their site but consistently fails to answer. Anyone having any better luck?

Some pictures taken at Exeter St. Davids, all in 1965. D7052 and an unidentified Warship D1019 and another Warship! D819 and D6346. I hope you like! Chas

Re Duchess of Montrose and the other Polmadie Coronations, all were painted in green and none of them were painted red. The story goes that the shedmaster (?) at 66A reckoned that as they were almost exclusively used on the overnight trains to London then as they ran in the dark nobody would care what colour they were! I can find no evidence of a colored nameplate for 46232.

Footplate tarpaulins info needed.

Latex gloves as used in the current circumstances are useful and are available in black. Once they are worn or torn they provide a source of very flexible material which can be used as the tarps. -
Tony, It was an unbuilt kit which actually came with a set of the later brass frames but I had already purchased a set of Comet frames which I used, the valve gear was made from a combination of the two. As regards the efficacy of the "smoke deflectors" and the Austerity type chimney, I have no idea and can only assume it was no worse than any other V2 and lasted until withdrawal. Chas

Yes, indeed they do and quite regularly. I recently picked one up for yet another lockdown project to do the unique 60813 - see here! Chas

Just received my subscribers email for the new issue and I am afraid the link to BRMTV is not working, just says "Loading"!

Try this one. https://www.brdatabase.info/index.php Chas

During your period (and mine) the TPO vans were all ex-LMS vehicles and were always in Maroon. Only very much later did Mk1 TPO's have red livery. Seen here going through Plean, a bit further South from You. Chas

What to do with Smokey Joe

Shown before on the "Pugbashes" thread but here you are, Caley and NB - From memory, Falcon Brass chassis, and basic Hornby wagons for the tenders. Chas -
Yes, the steampipe is an oddity peculiar to this loco and is only on the one side. The reason for this is unknown to me, perhaps someone knows? Dave's kits are no longer available except on the likes of ebay and there is no news of anyone having taken them on. I was lucky enough to know of one owned by a friend and he kindly passed it on to me, re-imbursement by some nice French liquid! Chas

In the spirit of showing things we have done during lockdown, my latest effort is a K4 from a Dave Alexander kit. Chas

The transfers from Fox (no connection) include an outline of the crest "plate", I would agree with Tony that the transfer is sufficient. Chas

Originally, if memory serves, the SP coaches were the best ones if you wanted a flush glazed coach, as the only rtr ones at the time were old Hornby or Mainline, so the SP ones were a Godsend. As stated above they are no longer available and the current rtr ones are much superior, although I still find it difficult to accept £40+ for a coach!

I am somewhat surprised that no-one, as yet, has produced a valve gear fret for the parts of the Hornby gear that need "beefing up" or altered. Chas

Some photos of my attempts at improving Hornby green, the first picture shows Tamiya X-24 Clear Yellow airbrushed on to a spare A4 tender - And the second picture shows the same paint brushed on - The clear yellow was used as I felt the original green needed to be richer. Both finishes seem to be acceptable. Another experiment I have tried was using the Humbrol 1322 clear orange (yellow?) on a Hornby Duchess pictured below. This has given a very good finish in my opinion BUT, and it is a big but -- The Humbrol finish has a glossier look then the Tamiya which some may prefer but both do seem to enhance the original green.

Would be very interested if anyone has and would like to part with the above.

Now there's a good idea! Chas
