  1. Been a while but have been detailing the Bachmann Pullman car need to pick a better blue for the other bits but might get onto the other coaches for a bit of detail as i find pics
  2. Cheers again Andrew also do you know what length the white boxcar would represent/style so i don't pick the wrong one to model. I will also keep an eye out on the decals there a bit outside the budget but they might go for a cheaper price ad will take a look at the CP pack from model junction
  3. Ah cheers for the info Andrew will get it resprayed into a non fake colour when i find cheap CP multimark decals somewhere for the boxcars otherwise it can just stay as it. The white boxcar and the CANFOR thrall all door boxcar i purchased together look like life like brand products similar to the AP lumber one i got
  4. Cheers for the info guys will have a proper flick through them in the weekend. On a side note gonna be ordering up the Kadees and the pair of trucks but my question is what sort should i use for the brown thrall all door box car i own since it was missing one when I got it from a show last year. The loco I bid on when to stupid prices so i didn't bother with it but will be on the lookout at shows for something smaller to go with the fleet as i have been using a non era Bachmann ATSF Plymouth Switcher. I may get another F7A+B unit if a dummy ones comes up cheap at a show for repaint into Maroon/Grey livery. I may do a session in the loft for some photos and to bring the stuff down to add to the spreadsheet gonna also focus on the fiddle yard at the back get that moving along for more storage space. On a stock note i know my tank cars are outside the era but anyone know any correct ones for the era also been researching the white boxcar I acquired last year as to why it would be white and for what purpose struggling on that front but progress will be made with the layout this year to move it forward
  5. I have been trawling eBay and wondered within time period would there have been other road names in CP consists to look out for and i have bid on this to modify to multimark scheme it wore when converted in 1981 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WALTHERS-EMD-GP-9U-CANADIAN-PACIFIC-WED19/283325046243?hash=item41f77d1de3:g:uZcAAOSwcapcLO0G:rk:3:pf:0
  6. Just seen these on Peters spares site for Athern but will these fit into my F7 i own https://www.petersspares.com/flushglaze-windows-se98-athearn-usa-f7-diesel-a-b-b-a-set-ho-gauge.ir
  7. Cheers for the info quinn didn't see much American at the show but I know Crewe Heritage Center have a show or 2 i need to research that may yield project items. On a side note been doing a lot of research over the Xmas break for projects one I decided to start a spreadsheet to keep track of the rolling stock and locos and what i want/need but I wondered within my time period would there have been other road names in CP consists to look out for
  8. Cheers for the info do King X have a website to look at by chance and i will take a look at the spring to see how easy it is to remove myself or i will wait till dad is back to get his help
  9. Its been ages since i visited this project since moving over to American locos but with the recent release this year of the warwell/flat by Oxford decided it was time to revisit the project for another use. I will be ordering these from fox https://fox-transfers.co.uk/60800-green-arrow to replace the tatty ones that came with the model when i purchased it and have a question about what comes with are the works plates usually found on the cab side or towards the front. I may also depending on how hard it might be replace the molded coal with some real stuff to add some detailing to it.
  10. Cheers for the information i do plan to get one of those slab sided hoppers to add to the consist. On a side note i have decided to pair the christmas cracker event in Manchester on the weekend with the Manchester Model Railway Show on the same weekend and have a few to look out for or project items at the railway show and have a few questions listed below 1) Did any Caboose run in the maroon and grey livery as google has thrown up either this http://yourrailwaypictures.com/Cabooses/Windsor_Hantsport_Cabooses-feb18b.jpg or this http://www.whippanyrailwaymuseum.net/images/stories/equipment/elc372/stripes.jpg within my time frame of 1790s to early 80s 2) if above applies what are the closest colours for the scheme in the uk 3) thinking of this scheme maybe https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b3/b4/0e/b3b40ea630fdd697b58c043af442702c.jpg but is there a closest match for the red in the uk 4) What would you recommend for a CP multimark shunter or smallish loco for the time period
  11. I noticed this a few days ago but the banner in the forum header seems to have broken for this forum
  12. Been fixing some broken items on the donor grain car getting it ready to create the grain door on it today but onto my question. I saw this video on YouTube and was wondering saw within the consist the slab sided grain hopper anyone got much info on them and my 2nd question is why would there be a B unit generator car within the consist as i could technically have my F7B unit in a consist
  13. Cheers for that looking forward to seeing your slides
  14. Another Bachmann cylindrical grain hopper arrived today in the form of the CP black multimark scheme It was then shunted by Canadian Pacific 4800 to join the rest of the consist for onward travel A 49 Mercury awaits to cross as the consist heads out And some run by shots of the new hopper
  15. Some people iv seen and used myself paint the inside or around certain areas with black paint to stop light bleed. I had this occur on my CSX loco by Bachmann before it stopped running I had to paint around a few spots on the rear and nose and it sorted it once i checked with the lights out but its still an interesting project your creating
  16. I have read the question in Model Railroader about grain in boxcars. I have a question what’s the best material to use for the wooden planks on the doorway as I have a Southern Pacific boxcar that has a sliding door that opens I am considering using for this project to go alongside the cylindrical hoppers on the layout. It would make a nice addition to a consist on the layout it this was seen as the proper ones came into service
  17. Did some rust job on some wheels today as a test for the Thrall all door boxcars plus touched up paint work on the brown one
  18. Interesting pics you have there Dibber I did bid on a RDC a while back took it to £60 quid bidding on eBay then the same guy bid again and took it from £60 quid to £110 so ive not seen one super cheap to bid on like that one at its tempting low low starting bid price. I do keep a watch on eBay to find another as there a neat looking machine to have on the layout to do maybe a cameo like your first pic flagging the train down to stop
  19. Picked these 2 new additions to the rolling stock fleet today at a local transport show another thrall door boxcar this time sporting the CANFOR livery and a white multimark CP Rail boxcar in white. Can anyone explain why its painted white is there a reason or some kind of special purpose perhaps
  20. I have decided to turn it into a preserved working line that way i can run some of my other locos on the layout instead of them collecting dust but have stipulated that it will mostly be Canadian with the odd piece of american stock or locos. I also intend to keep the 1970s theme and do some early 1980s as well apart from the 2 non era american locos which with occasionally be run. So my question is besides CP who else was around in the 70/80s excluding CN and via around CP territory
  21. Been considering a name for the layout without much success but i saw model junction and gaugemaster do wheel sets so my question is what type and size do i need for my 2 Thrall door box cars i own and anywhere in the UK to get decals.
  22. Got the bus from home to the train station at Crewe and was greeted with a 2 quid optional bus ride to the depot no mention of this on the site so i decided to walk there. The weather held out all day and i really enjoyed it especially the turnout of locomotive types i had never experienced before. The trade was decent and picked up 3 items from the class 40 stand and enjoyed the atmosphere especially when they fired up the locos and blew the horns also revving them up was a treat to hear the sounds, I noted the following locos i took pics of and some rolling stock also noted on some locos and equipment the replacements brake disks on the 68s the models received the new release of the snow plough set was there in the flesh 9575025 - no idea what this was it confused me no end trying to figure it out 37558 Avro Vulcan XH558 - this was coupled to the above coach 68021 Tireless - splended in its TPE livery 68014 - I assume this was in the wessex connect livery if i have this right Nuclear flask wagon 37069 88002 Prometheus 37403 Isle of Mull 57007 - nameplate on this was covered up any ideas what it was named 68019 - splended in the TPE livery 37606 37407 68019 Brutus - splended in its TPE livery also had headboards on the front 20302 20303 - had a name plate on the cab rear Max Joule 1958 -1999 37218 57303 Pride of Carlisle Twin snowplough set behind the fence was 66425, 66424, 37422 & 57323 Solway Princess looking smart in its Northern Belle livery In the shed was 37259, 57301 Goliath, 68020 Reliance, 68029 The only nitpick id have was traffic flow you'd move a bit then someone would stop for photos then others would the you get stuck trying to fight to go around them and a few lads in youtube shirts and there attitudes when you tried walking in front as you couldn't go around the back getting irate and nasty but overall the event scores 10/10 for my first ever event of this type and would do it again if it was that easy to get to. On a side note anyone know what the rake of BR blue coaches was that was thundered past the depot and on my walk into town spotted DRS coaches on the move
