  1. The layout looks great! If you crop your photos to remove the edge of the baseboard and back scene. Then you will have some very realistic photos.
  2. I have seen in most cases where an existing line has had OHLE fitted, portals have been used that are fixed to the outside of the viaduct/ bridge. This I am guessing is to maintain clearances for track side access.
  3. That is wonderful! It is great when people like you think outside of the'box' and make something a bit different. There must be more different wagons out there to build which are not rtr. Now we are stuck with just class 66 locomotives, we need different trains to pull!
  4. Great looking layout! Does it run to a sequence or is completely random? What control system do you use? Will the lorries become a permanent feature? They look great fun, as they are not restricted to follow guide wires in a set route.
  5. Great effort! Looking at the photo are you going to add the real life non working overhead line? Or maybe it in progress of being fitted?
  6. Great looking MXA wagons! What are the dimensions for the box and the spacing for the ribs?
  7. Great start! Are they medium radius points? What motive power do you plan to use?
  8. Make sure you put some removable ends on the cassettes! You do not want to drive off the end or drop it when moving the cassette. I used mini electrical trunking on my N gauge with track stuck in.
  9. Great inspiration! How are you going to disguise the exit to the fiddle yard on the left behind the aggregate loading building?
  10. Cheers! It was surprising what can be achieved when the exhibition dead line is reached! A lot of time was used researching ideas from other people's layouts on RMWeb to get the right look.
  11. Hi your acid tta looks great! How did you build it and where did you get the plans? Is it now finished?
  12. This is a really great inspirational modelling thread! Clearly laid out techniques. On your last trip to the sands, did you actually get some modeling done? The first wagons built under enemy fire! There was a padre and a captain who actual held a one layout exhibition in a medical centre in Iraq. Scenery was made from bandages and it was well received by the nurses! Do the other guys know about your hobby? Especially when you are drawing all over iso containers!
  13. This is a real character layout! Can you take some photos of the fiddle yard and back of the layout? Living in the south east, the chance of seeing this layout is rather slim. Are you going to have cassettes or a traverse in the longer fiddle yard?
  14. Great progress! Most of us have only thought about doing jobs on a Saturday morning! You will have it finished by Sunday evening. I guess you did a lot of paperwork planning before, rather than make it up as you go along.
  15. Hi Great looking carriages! Have you painted the interiors, seats, tables and floors? If so what colours and manufacture numbers.
  16. Hi have you seen these? http://www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/bulleid-door-furniture-19.html mk2 frames, I guess you would want them all on the same coach as they might be slightly different from shawplan. Has anyone else tried them?
  17. Looking good! You are adding all the detail that we all see on the railway, but forget to put on our layouts. Will the lever move when the point is thrown? We can not have the track circuits not operating correctly to set the shunt signals!!
  18. Or be really modern, by reopening it as a Tesco Metro or MacDonald's! That is what has happened to the pubs in London!
  19. I was at Norwich on Saturday 24/06/2016. The class 37s and mk2 set are still running. I could hear the different engine sound from a campsite in the country park! Better than the class 156! At the station, in the carriage sidings near platform 1, was the West Coast Railway Company maroon coach set with a couple of class 57s top and tail. Bit of an over kill for DMU replacement! There was also an DRS class 68,at the end of the royal dock. So that might get used in the future. Tried to get a look at Crown Point depot. Could not get any good views.
  20. Looking great! I had some similar ideas with ratio spear fencing and tower blocks on raised ground. I like the lower continuous run to keep something moving. Is it two ovals or something more complex?
  21. How deep are the baseboard frames to make the river?
  22. Hi great looking layout! Is the platform going to be double sided or have a fence on the rear side? How are you going to run the fiddle yards, cassettes or mass hand shunting, especially in the left hand yard with one track? I like the varying levels from the river up to the road bridge. The modified footbridge makes a good set of steps!
  23. Hi looks great! How is the layout progressing?
  24. Today is the first time I have exhibited my own personal layout! I have operated club and other people's layouts. That is ok as it is a shared operation. So lucky I made a quick list of all the items I would need. Nothing worse than forgetting the transformer leads! It has gone well. Getting the balance between keeping trains moving and talking to the the visitors is hard. The layout can be run by one person, but two makes it easier! It helps to have spare locomotives and rolling stock. So any piece can be removed if it fails and dealt with later. The morning was a learning curve, but by the afternoon, I was actually enjoying myself! I managed to take some of my own photos. I take it as a compliment when other people do. I must have done something good they want to remember! Tomorrow the exhibition continues at Pratts Bottom near Orpington. Pop by if you can! http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/calendar/event/1466-pratts-bottom-model-railway-show/
