  1. Great day out at the Festival today. Really like the relaxed format, great selection of layouts, and got some fantastic deals. Met Andy Y, walked through the background as Howard and Phil (?) were doing a piece to camera - will look out for myself on the DVD. Also liked the really, really loud "Can Howard Smith return to the BRM stand announcement!". - gave the impression it was all kicking off at BRM! Layout wise quite a few excellent diesel TMD layouts including Lomond Street (4 trains moving at once - no danger of a lack of movement). Remagen and Amiens were fab. Liked the N gauge modern layouts as well. Some fantastic scenery across all the layouts. Thanks to all involved.
  2. Social media, Andy. You have to tell us everything so we can be outraged and tell you how you've got it all wrong. And hold you in contempt for not publishing the details in full.
  3. Thanks - I meant the forum 'home' or front page I see when I login. Not sure what vnc is? Would prefer a particular thread not to be visible to me.
  4. Is there any way we can block particular threads from appearing our homepage for the forum? I've tried the ignore button but it doesn't seem to do anything. Thanks
  5. They obviously opened a BRM account, made 1 post announcing these would be coming out, and haven't posted since. Then it turns out they have released them but not told anyone. Bit odd and Paypal Buyer Protection only lasts 180 days from date of payment so have diarised a check in 5 months time. Hopefully all is fine but a bit more comms would be good.
  6. When I was at school the driver of one train home got confused as to what he was driving. We boarded a Reading to Redhill stopper but the driver thought he was taking the Gatwick Flyer (fast to the Redhill)! Took until Blackwater for him to figure it out, missing quite a few stops!
  7. Good news. I picked up a copy of "Railways of the Yorkshire Dales"* at a show and on p,68 is a b&w photo of 2 warwells, a warflat, inspection saloon plus 47's about to unload 2 Warriors at Redmire. Dated 14/02/97. *Michael Blakemore, Atlantic Publishers 2001 ISBN 1 902827 02 3 Only about £2.40 from secondhand outlets e.g. https://www.abebooks.co.uk/9781902827025/Railways-Yorkshire-Dales-Backtrack-Byways-1902827023/plp Lovely pic of Y3 Sentinel with 6 wheel milk tanks on p.65!
  8. Bit of filing and it runs quite happily on Hornby R8218 wheels towed behind another loco.Wheels sit quite happily with lots of movement. Only issue is the buffer beam isn't glued in so fell off when the buffers locked. Haven't put it along side any Bachmann 66's yet as none to hand.
  9. Merl and 37116 top and tailing respectively, flashing past Kelvedon Church Street LC southbound on the GEML on 15/08/2018 with the Plain Line Pattern Recognition and Overhead Line inspection coaches
  10. Although you can't see the full length this is 68017 Hornet passing through Witham on the GEML taking a single AGA Mk3 to Ilford for tyre turning
  11. A point I was going to make on another thread about the queues before the opening of model shows! You will get some bargains early doors but there will be plenty more buried in the back that won't come out until later.
  12. Loads of those still at £6 in my local shop. Also plenty of other cheap railway books, including this one on lost railway architecture which had lots of good photos. https://www.theworks.co.uk/p/british-history-books/britains-lost-railways/9781781318638
  13. Definitely Specsavers. MFA's are a conversion of ex-HEA's and are much shorter than SPA's.
  14. £70? £80 is the going rate at the moment, probably a useful investment. Currently 2 buyitnow at £80 and one auction at £56, although I suspect bidders may not be aware of the new releases!
  15. Checked now I'm home and these are new ones, although to get pairs e.g. OOC you needed to have bought one of the earlier versions so not ideal. Also you will be charged in full now to pre-order.
  16. Excellent idea - couple of years ago was at Chelmsford station when noticed a pram had rolled off the platform onto the Up line. Luckily mum and child were in the cafe. Does happen.
  17. Are these re-releases of one they've done before? Apart from Buxton TMD no way to run a pair without renumbering?
  18. I'm running Win 10 and Firefox 63.0.3 with uBlock and NoScript. Even with Noscript turned off the page numbers at the bottom of the page don't work - instead of going to the page it just returns to the top of the page I'm already on. Looking at Noscript it is trying to run 20 or so scripts. uBlock is showing 79 requests, blocking 38%. Too much going on here, presumably why it doesn't work? New site looks ok but not a fan of sites where it consuming bandwidth and power just to look at stock or buy something. Although fairly academic if I can't select the pages.
  19. Thanks for posting. Was there today and have to say it was a really good show. Lots of great railway layouts and other modelling (love the huge RC model A10 Warthog!), and a good range of traders including a good few I've not seen before. Got cracking deal on Eckon signals, even though I had a 20 minute walk to a cash machine (forgot to go beforehand). All the layouts were really good, ranging from 'Overlord' to a fab Lego trains layout with model 73's and Virgin HST in Lego, and nice mix of non-UK with the layout above and a Z gauge US one.
  20. Last time someone hit a train on a crossing in Norfolk we got top and tail 68's - here's hoping!!
  21. "PC Jon Parker was one of the officers on the scene of the incident and said on Twitter: “Currently on scene at a train vs car incident. Unsurprisingly, the train emerged the victor." The car driver needs to watch Clarkson's educational video about level crossings.........lucky it wasn't a 31 at speed..
  22. I think it is 2 different things - the normal cakebox challenge and a separate modular one.
